I have alot and im still siding with the strikers. They deserve more than the crap blizzard has given them and they deserve better treatment than the toxic environment they are and or were currently in.
What strikers ? Blizzard is literally still operating.
How are you privy to their work conditions anyhow ?
We have nothing but anecdotes from some ex-employees. Current employees don’t seem to be revolting in mass like you pretend.
I don’t think you actually understand that you’re being grifted. Look, give to the GoFundMe, it’s your money, don’t come crying with it ends up being spent on Ubereats and Bestbuy.com for the benefit of some now unemployed ex-Blizzard employee.
Workers that don’t work are very disposable as they serve no purpose.
A CEO isn’t developing the content that we’re waiting on.
Where’s the content in Shadowlands then? We can’t blame this on covid anymore.
We know the environment because of the lawsuit. Pretty easy to see those employees are being treated like garbage.
Any striking they do is justified and any backlash blizzard gets is justified too.
I also never said I was giving money. I only said I understand and agree with why they are striking.
Same place the content in other expansions was : slow to show up, very different from what was promised.
The lawsuit doesn’t allege low pay, it’s about specific allegations.
Nope, there’s actual rules to striking. For one : you need to wait for your collective work agreement to expire before you can even strike. Courts will side with employers if employees just do mass walk outs when a valid agreement is in place.
Who’s even striking ? They’re responding on the forums, doing work on PTR, and everything is operating.
Courts are just as corrupt. If you trust those idiots then that’s speaks volumes of how downhill this country is going.
Ok, so you don’t show up to work, you beg for money on the Internet, you get justifiably fired, and somehow, it’s the employers and courts who are corrupt and bad ?
I’m definately getting “young kid” vibes here. Like have you even gotten off campus yet ? Campus activism isn’t how the real world opperates.
You’d be detecting wrong. I never said not working was a good thing. I said if some workers wanna strike do to bad conditions at thier job, like underpay and mistreatment or in blizzards case sexual harassment which results in a lawsuit. Then they have that justification.
In regards to courts, I’m not trusting those corrupt morons with anything considered how many have been proven to be politically motivated.
If you found unions worked for you then fine but that’s in no way an easy solution to get on when not only is it pricey but doesn’t help them right away.
Blizzard will just replace the lost work force if it starts to have a serious impact upon the release date of stuff but given they really don’t have any hard dates out there yet…
No, not without a Union backing them. There’s no way to justify an employee “striking”, which is just not showing up to work. Especially an individual.
That’s just grounds for termination.
Laws are laws. And in California, employment is at will. Firing someone for failing to show up to work is perfectly valid as a reason for termination.
No courts would claim the employee was justified.
It’s neither pricey to set up or long to set up.
What it does require is convincing your co-workers to get onboard. If they won’t, something tells me the work conditions aren’t as bad as you’re making them out to be.
They probably would since blizzard doesn’t care about its workforce the same way it doesn’t care about the playerbase.
They’ll most definitely and unfortunately replace the workers with new ones who more likely than not will be unqualified and so bright eyed that they’ll accept being underpaid for the work they’ll do. Which will result in shoddy content which will chase away the very last of this playerbase.
Honestly, you might have a hard time getting people to believe that one. Given just how bad the game has been for SL, it might be a high (or in this case low) bar you are setting.
Or they’re too scared to turn against their boss.
Either way its still justified. California is the absolute worst place to live if one wants fair treatment and honest pay. Glad I got out of that cesspool of a state when I did. Especially since it’s damn impossible to live anywhere on your own without multiple sources of income.
Disagree all you want but the striking employees have cause to strike over the treatment they’ve received which is no surprise given the crap content this game has gotten.
In the current job market, that’s a ridiculous claim.
Nope, walking out of your job after you signed a contract agreeing to working conditions because you suddenly don’t like them anymore is not justifiable. The only justified action here would be termination.
You’re really naive about the real world. You don’t just get to “stop working” whenever things don’t go your way.
Don’t like the proposed pay ? Don’t accept the job.
True but there’s also a difference in this case between qualified individuals who are under tons of stress as well as having higher ups dictating how they want content to be and unqualified people coming in and throwing together whatever they can. Its a noticeable difference however small.
The job market is crashed. So if someone is too scared to turn against their boss that’s not surprising.
In other words your saying that if a contract stated an employee will be underpaid, mistreated and sexually harassed then they just have to put up with it? Wow…
No. Applications for jobs state the worker will do the job they are assigned to the best of thier ability but in no way states they have to be underpaid and overworked nor does it state that they have to be mistreated and just deal with it.
What ?
Every company is suffering mass worker shortages right now.
Dude, you really have no real world experience do you ? Like do you even have a job right now ? We can’t even fill most open positions.
They are free not to agree with it as far as “underpaid” goes. You don’t just sign on the dotted line agreeing to a salary and then just decide to no show.
The whole sexual harassment thing needs to go through courts, not ad hoc individual strikes. There’s a process for that.
Like I said, do you even have a job ? Have you ever even worked a single day in your life ? You don’t get to accept a job, agree to the pay and then just walk off whenever you feel like you should get more money and hope your employer doesn’t fire you on the spot.
there are still LOTS of places trying to hire.
I have a job dude. I’ve worked for a long time to know.
When is say the market is crashed im referring to plenty of places can’t hold onto employees anymore and the ones they do hold are so overworked and underpaid that I’m not surprised they haven’t just up and left those companies to die out.
This guy is probably a troll I’m figuring.
“the market is crashed”. Like what dude. No. There’s a mass labour shortage.
