The fact that their anti-cheat software was bad enough to allow 100k bots is insane. Assuming that number and this post are true.
Why would anyone bot in a shooter? Or do you mean aimbot?

Yeah the difference is those accounts don’t pay anything, whether this happens to our botters who pay for boosts and a sub remains to be seen.

Only after the bots have run long enough to turn a profit.
That way the botter will come back and purchase a new subscription and a new 58 boost.

Wouldn’t be surprised if they kept a list of known or suspected bots, time since activation, and used a $/hour calculation to determine when they’ve made enough money they can safely ban them knowing the botter will resub and buy a new boost…
CoD has a massive cheating problem, mostly aim botting and esp.
The hacks being used were basically undetectable; Blizzard games suffer the same, just not the same frequency in game with bots that execute rotations, CC, interrupts, gathering, etc.
Breaking cheaters is hard because it’s a double edge sword, on one hand they are money in the bank, and on the other they actually kill a game driving players away.
Because everyone worships the god of quarterly earnings rather than long term stability and sustainable growth, they try to play both sides.

They don’t play both sides. Botting is rampant,gold buying is rampant, The player base is spewing at them over a heap of different issues and all they do is the barest minimum.
The only thing blizzard care about is their EoQ and EoY financials. I understand their point of view, but it’s stupidly short sighted.

Whatever damage they do chasing this quarter’s profits, will simply be next quarter’s problem
** (though it hardly compares to the tragedy we’re going to see in a few decades when global temperatures have risen so much that over a billion people will be desperately fleeing from drought, starvation, and genocidal war in africa and the middle east)

Yup, always pushing the budget projections forward at the expense of quality and long term stability. I have worked with guys who stall on projects just to meet budgets for lean times, or push everything upfront even if it’s not ready again for the same quarterly god.
It’s good to have goals, it’s good to be efficient and not waste money but the blinders are on and all they see are $$$$$$$$$$ and nothing else.
Oh man you’re spot on, they destroy the world at the expense of others, they could invest and actually fix a lot of the damage, so many good ideas have been put forward to combat global warming trends with minimal change to society yet instead of doing anything at a macro scale they pretend to care and claim “these taxes will fix everything”
