Yeah I wouldn’t place a lot of stock in that particular award. The fact remains, though, that by all financial accounts WoW did a huge amount of the heavy lifting for Blizzard, and ActiBlizz in general, since BfA’s release.
They nominated Sh!tnite, I stopped taking them seriously ever since
Neither would I, necessarily. My main thought is simply that it is an award and that can be a big deal one way or another.
So they won first place in a race with only one competitor in it. What an accomplishment!
Also this kek, literally what other MMO is comparable to WoW?
Lament it for the plagiarized crap that it is but there’s no getting around the fact that it was by far the most popular game of 2018. Not putting it up for nomination would not have been OK. Especially when this particular reward was literally all about popularity.
Fan Favorite MMORPG
World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth
The Elder Scrolls Online
Maple Story 2
Lineage II: Revolution
Black Desert Online
EVE Online
Final Fantasy XIV
Sigh sadly
And not one of those MMOs has a playerbase even remotely comparable to WoW’s. I didn’t literally mean no other MMOs existed; just that for most of them, the word “massively” is being a little too generous.
I don’t follow the Diablo franchise to have numbers on its playerbase and sales, but I do think Diablo Immortal will make them a tremendously higher amount of money than another Diablo PC game, to the point where the discussion has to be had about where Blizzard will want to allocate their resources. Right now, we at least know that they have some of their best developers working on mobile games.
For the Diablo franchise at least, I think it’s very possible that this side girl will become the new main girl. And the main girl becomes the side girl. If that’s where the money trail points.
You just proved his point
Probably more accurate to describe it as not being able to adequately explain their legitimate complaints… so they quickly attach it to whatever narrative makes sense them, and to an extent, best fits their perception and biases.
These “irrational explanations” often have some sort of internal logic, and take advantage of existing assumptions. They don’t stand up to close scrutiny, but you find those who feel betrayed usually aren’t up to hearing you out.
That being said… if Activision isn’t responsible for Blizz’ recent missteps…
That REALLY doesn’t help Blizz’ current situation.
It just means they are the source of their own issues.
WoW is to MMOs what WWE is to pro wrestling.
There are other, arguably better, products out there but they cornered the market so long ago that in a mainstream sense the other options just don’t exist.
No, but the point is that they won the award. It doesn’t HAVE to be an amazing award - an award still gives bonus points. Even participation awards add a few points on top. They don’t have to be great points, but they do exist.
There’s no evidence to believe this is anything beyond PR spin.
For one thing mobile development is pretty radically different from other systems so they more than likely hired on people already possessing the required experience. One of the perks of being a big company is you don’t have to sacrifice one product to work on another.
Second, if you’re entering a new market and want to be taken seriously are you really going to tell people you’ve got Danny the intern hard at work on it?
Yeah pretty much. Every decision that people hate isnt activision pushing them, Its just them making those choices. Not really a win
Man all this is getting old. Forums, social media, news websites, it’s all just people presenting information in a certain way to make people think it’s true or nudges readers into their thinking. It’s so dumb.
If you want to know the influence of the two just look at the actual facts. How the merger happened, who’s leading, how shares have been bought out amongst the two. Who is in high up positions and where did they come from. Where did implemented things originate before spreading. Don’t just read some morons post and take it as is. Do a little freaking research and formulate your own conclusion. Then also take it with a grain of salt and take into account the changing industry. It’s not hard.
In a nut shell stop reading what forum posters, community managers, and whoever else says. Then just instantly assuming theyre 100% accurate. Everyone has their biases. You read all sides, dig through to the ACTUAL facts and go from there.
We are living in a world where everyone is constantly spinning things in their favor and like John Travolta said in swordfish. “What the eyes see and the ears hear, the mind believes.”
Not really tho, Blizzard has a record of stupid decisions and those were amplified the moment the merge happened. The rumors are justified, not saying they are true tho
Ok you just said the rumors are justified but not saying theyre true. Great. Again, they are rumors and not facts. I’m not arguing that they are or are not justified, I’m saying stop taking these rumors and running with them with 0 actual knowledge on the subject.
Which is why I said
