If they can’t authenticate your account, you can’t log on and you will get a “World server down” message because the world server is down for you. been this way since…BC?

fix your error messages, it says world server down, which does not indicate anything being wrong with authentication.
“We are aware our servers can’t handle this type of demand. However we expect the demand to eventually drop to playable levels over time. Just keep trying, or stop trying and be part of the solution.”

This is why world first is BS because it’s BS! Half the game can’t log in!
Except we get to character selection, it isn’t a logging in problem, or we wouldn’t get that far, I’m logged in can select a character.
