“LF3M for MC - Must have Achievement”
On one hand, i don’t have a problem with achievements existing per say so i understand where you are coming from.
On the other, classic is supposed to replicate vanilla as it was back in 2004-2005, and achievements just weren’t around then. I hate to use that “slippery slope” argument as it’s usually just a blanket statement, but once we start adding things that weren’t in classic into it… how long is it before classic is no longer classic?
And I do not understand why people keep asking for stupid things like achievements, so I guess that makes two of us.
There is already an achievement point system in Vanilla WoW that everyone can see. It’s a numeric point system that starts at 1 and goes up to 60.
If you click on any player, you can easily see their achievement ranking.
It changes the game, it makes people farm stuff they wouldn’t normally farm, it gets higher level players in the way of lower level players who are just trying to play normally.
Whether that’s good or bad I don’t know… on one hand I like having a list of stuff to do, on the other hand having level 60 players kill stealing everything in all the low level areas sucks for people who are just trying to level.
Your achievement is your character youve put months of hard work into! Just look at the people standing around SW, the ones wearing tier armor have achieved great things, and they look awesome
This might sound dumb but oh well. Achievements are honestly the only reason I don’t play retail wow anymore. I spent so much time pvping that I have really nothing to show for it other then the gladiator title. Now that I am done pvping and want to just PvE I feel so far behind due to achievements that it would be near impossible for me to catch up. Yeah dumb I know.
And to drop-kick your self-esteem even more in current WoW, it’s a data entry next to your character’s name in the guild roster. So the whole guild knows you haven’t “achieved” much in the game. What an ego-booster, huh?
If not achievements, maybe an external profile (like on here) where people can view what dungeons theyve done / how much PvP etc.
I think there will be a lot of bulls* to get into decent groups for raids etc. I know you’ll be able to check their gear but sometimes BIS pre raid gear does not really matter in terms of their skill.
I guess it’ll be try them out… Then see haha
Personally I’m glad achievements are not in classic wow. I hate them, always have. What is even the point of them? Why do people care about achievements? They’re literally just badges that are like “Congrats, you fell x feet without dying”… And it causes so much drama in many areas of the game. I.e. you’re guild wants to do a raid but there’s one guy refusing to cooperate because they want to do the achievement where you agro all the adds at once or something making it 10 times harder…
Classic Wow is an adventure, no achievements, carve your own path and play the game you want. With no shiny badge thingy system pushing you to do stuff like find every turkey in the game etc…
Achievements were only useful for tracking what dungeons someone had done as proof of experience for progression guilds etc.
That can be solved by creating an addon that tracks dungeon clears in real time where players can upload the addon’s encrypted log to a website to update they’re dungeon profile etc etc.
just a reference to another topic pretty much about the same thing but more about people saying why they don’t want achievements https://us.battle.net/forums/en/wow/topic/20759281543
also there is an addon called all the things which keeps track of a lot, there are also addons for specific things, so if you really want to track stuff there is no shortage, the real simple answer though, is simply it was not in the original game which blizzard was trying to give back to people, so they decided not to add an “extra” feature, also why there is no dungeon finders and so on.
really people would complain even if it was in the game also, so it is a lose/lose for blizzard
