I’ve looked about a bit but haven’t found something that does this - perhaps there’s a larger addon that may do this as a side effect so thought I’d ask.
Spell tooltips in TBCC only show the base spell damage and ignores +spellpower/healing on mouseover.
Is there an addon that calculates the actual damage range based on your current spellpower on mouseover? I get that each spell is affected by SP differently based on cast time and a few other things, but that’s a flat equation, right?
It’s not a big thing, but I’m curious to see if there’s something out there.
There was one in Vanilla that did that, can’t remember the name at the moment (spell stat weights maybe) but they didn’t make a TBC version of it and like you haven’t found anything similar.
Yeah it’s called Stat Weights Classic https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/stat-weights-classic but again no TBC version of it which is sad to see.
Oooh! I’ve found one. I searched and found a Reddit post that had an addon similar to spell-stat-weights - it wasn’t what I was after, however someone posted in the comments about SpellCalc - it’s not on any addon updater that I can find but it does exactly what I want and is very customisable. Give me a few mins and I’ll upload a guide (for those interested)
OK, so the addon is SpellCalc by a guy called coolmodi
Also, I have no idea how to embed images and the pastebin images I’ve uploaded aren’t showing here - the link is there to the image, it’s just invisible. I’ve put a little ← to show you where to click.
What it does:
It shows the damage that spell does on mouseover based on your current gear.
It can optionally include a ton of extra info - such as crit damage, casts-til-oom, scaling, damage-per-mana and others.
Overlaying the average damage of a cast onto the actual spell icon on your actionbar if you want.
It’s pretty customisable. I just want the damage range shown, so I’ve chopped it down a bit.
Click the little “Latest” bubble in the middle of the right-hand-column
Download the zip file
Extract the SpellCalc folder into your WoW addons folder. If you’re not sure where that is, it lives here on my computer:
World of Warcraft_classic_\Interface\AddOns
Open WoW and type /sc to customise what you want to see.
And that’s it! This is exactly what I was after. Thanks coolmodi for this and also thanks to Heydownthere for putting me on this trail!
Looks like it’s a very useful addon; however, it only displays the healing amount if a spell can deal damage and also heal.
For example: My holy shock can both heal and do damage, but it only shows healing (green) numbers. Wish I could change it to show damage numbers or even both!
