And I would find those 15 requests from total strangers to be a bit creepy. Just as I would if it happened on FB. I’d just prefer it if the # tag wasn’t visible. I dont think thats all much to ask really.
Just hit decline and move on, takes like a second lol. Also, I highly, HIGHLY, doubt a ton of people would try to friend you randomly.
I have gotten maybe 15 in 10 years as a green poster. I would assume a normal poster would not attract as much attention. Declining one or two a year is not a big deal for me.
Beats having people in game who can add me to a friends list, message me, or mail me without my permission.
I want people to ask first. I will take 15 permission request over even 5 un asked for in game contacts.
^^^ so true.
Besides, it’s nice getting in-game mail from forum haters because it’s a great way for them to earn some much-needed time off from the game itself.
I’m not sure what this is referencing, but some of us have been saying just have your battle tag under your character name.
It is, because then there’s multiple Thallias. And I’ll get accused of whatever insanity they throw out.
For the one account, one forum name thing. The rp servers plus rp section of the forums do require a level of alt swapping and having a character as a icon during posting so that the stories wrote in can be understood. That community looks really hurt and hemorrhaging right now. It would be bad to hurt game populations more.
Spill the tea.
In game isn’t being discussed here. And why does the story forum need alt swapping? Did I miss RP story threads where you’re RPing on multiple characters?
And again…
Please don’t reply to me when I’m not even referenced in a quote. Thanks.
Mistake my’lady.
Ah, sorry. I blame the bad forum coding!
It’s not ingame.
Plus my original post you quoted was refering to someone who did want one account, one forum posting. You took my quote out of context for that. I don’t care if the battle tag is underneath, so long as the character portrait can change for the other posting in those forums.
No… I quoted you to tell you that some of us had another idea that may be more appealing to you, because it’s a compromise, so that people can still swap characters.
I’m honestly not even sure how you got that out of what I said. I’m not arguing with you. I’m trying to talk about other alternatives to what the OP mentioned to help you.
Sure it can be counter-productive… but why should people have to constantly deal with trolls and other ignorant people in the player base? Ignore should be something that is automatically in any chat based system.
I need a Zandalari snickers, I too eager for forum combat it seems. I do believe if any change ever occurs they must do it carefully. At the moment when you post with your alt and change characters then post remains as the alt image. If the new form changed every time you did it would still wreck these in forums rp sessions.(which are huge in Moonguard, Wyrmrest, and Emerald Dream.)
Oh I totally understand. We’ve all been there.
Actually no. It would just work like MVP and Community Council titles. It’s still the same swapping characters like it is now. The only change would be a battle tag name underneath it, like you have a guild name.
So mine would read:
Thallia
Level 60 Night Elf Druid
Thallia#1234
And my alt:
Rhielle
Level 42 Night Elf Rogue
Thallia#1234
I believe RP was a specific reason called out by a blue for why WoW isn’t bnet-account bound. I’d hate to see RP functionality removed just because a few people have an unfounded fear of alt armies ruining the forums.
The actual problem is that moderation is largely non-existent.
The mods do exist, but it often takes an extra 3 days to a week for them to do anything once a thread’s gone off the deep end.
Which is why some of us are saying it can be both. Just put the battle tag under “race class” as a third line.
