Account Wide Ignore on Forums

Which is why posting by Btag means no alts are harmed or outed in the ignore.

Yes. It isn’t worth the hassle and it’s easier/better to let them make their own bed so they can lay in it.

This was tested after 9.1.5?

Doesn’t seem to imply it’s only character->account-level. Then again, I suppose it’s vague enough to support it too.

That’s really stupid if that’s the case.

Really? Well, if they had that setup here it would probably be goodbye from me. I dont even give my bnet via Friending ingame (other than to real life friends or family) because I dont like the idea of people knowing what I am doing all the time ingame. Social interaction is one thing but I also value my privacy.

Now now, you need to be a contributing member of society and give up more of your privacy just because a few vocal people and a CC member want warm and fuzzies about knowing who is who for…reasons.

Not sure which patch I tested it but I tested after they introduced it. But that wording you quoted supports what I said anyway.

You get that CC members are just players right? Not on the payroll?

You could attempt to be a little less envious.

How would I do that through your battletag? I can literally just make a character on your realm and look you up right now lol.

Really. The good news is you have to explicitly grant permission for anyone to add you as a friend and talk to you or see what you are doing. In almost 10 years of posting as green in the Diablo forums on my Btag I have had less than 15 friend requests and either declined or ignored most. If I knew someone was cool from the forums I did accept though. I think I have like 4? Maybe?

It is actually a lot more private than the char-server in which they can directly bother you in game without your permission.

Yeah, it’s pretty vague sadly. The commonsense interpretation would be that it works both ways, but yup, it’s written vaguely enough for other interpretations to work too, and if you tested it after that feature became a thing, then gg useless ignore system.

Unfortunately, people see different colored text (e.g. green, orange) and take their word as gospel.

I’d go for a perma-ban if I ever had non-white text.

What privacy? You said you don’t alt hop or troll so posting on one user name would not be an issue for you. Further, we agreed we have no right to privacy on the Blizzard platforms and that everything we do can and will be recorded. Also, it is all owned by Blizz.

Your battletag gives you MORE privacy, not less. It means nobody can pester you in game or try to talk to you without your permission.

Really? Usually I see people disagreeing with them en masse, but hey I guess we are not on the same forums?

Pretty much. I suspect it is because for some stupid reason, characters have a cap on number of ignored characters and if they truly made it account vs account, then you would very rapidly end up in a situation where you log into a character that will automatically try to ignore someone but can’t because they are at cap. But that’s just a theory.

Not when unfounded beliefs are shared, such as in the case of “alt armies are ruining the forums”.

Oh so you take offense when they have a take you dislike!

Makes a lot more sense than what you originally put out there! Glad we could clear this up!

I take offense when certain CC members outright falsely accuse me of running the alt armies with 0 evidence, so yes, you’re correct on that.

providing a counter example does not disprove the assertion of “there exists and x where y is true”

I am sure they have never said that once, they alluded to players doing it.

You chose to assume it was about you, so… I want you to take a moment and internalize this just a little.

No, it was about them saying they had a lot of accounts. It was a thread asking about how to best maximize all those accounts. Similar to the gold threads. If someone says they have lots of accounts, I believe they just might have lots of accounts.
