Aah, Where to begin? My WoW account was hacked about 6 months ago, Which I assume was used for a short time spamming gold selling websites and of course stealing my riches. It was a beautiful sunny day, A perfect day to start playing WoW again with the homies! I try to login to my account and simply couldn’t, “Wrong password”. Long story short, After a few weeks of trying to recover my account I finally get it back! Super excited to play…Until I realized you guys gave me back a locked account. I’ve put in numerous tickets and finally was told its Activision’s fault? I’m so confused. From the looks of it all my characters were deleted, I mean bloody hell, look at the names they gave the characters they made. Over 10 years playing WoW, This will be my last Hoorah to receive my account back. Thank you.
Considering that Activision is not involved in the daily activities of WoW, I’m definitely perplexed by this. I imagine that there was a great deal more to this that just “it’s Activision’s fault.”
Let’s start off by understanding that if someone was able to access your account, it means that they somehow got that information from you. Blizzard did not provide that information to the hacker and if Blizzard were to be compromised, they’re required by law to inform us about it.
So while I’d love to be a fly on the wall of your tickets, unfortunately, there’s not a lot that can be done via the forums as there are no GMs here. This is primarily a forum for player to help other players and only a ticket can help with recovering a hacked account.
Somebody higher up has to read these I mean cmon. All of my emails were hacked unfortunately even my really important ones. I have images of the ticket responses from them specifically stating it’s Activision’s issue and they cannot help. I have no bans on any CoD game, I’ve checked. I’ve put in tickets on Activision’s support, No answer. There has to be somebody who can help me.
On the forums? No. These forums really are primarily for players like myself to help point other players in the right direction. Yes, there are blues (Blizz employees) who will post in this forum regularly too, and they might clarify your ticket reply, but this would be the first time I’ve ever heard of a ticket being replied to with “It was Activision’s fault” and no explanation as to what that means…especially since Activision isn’t involved in the daily operations of WoW.
Without knowing the actual replies to your ticket, nor the circumstances involved in your hack, there’s not really anything that can be done here.
I would seriously and honestly start looking into how to properly secure your computer, your emails, your online presence as a whole. Start using two-factor authentication EVERYWHERE you can. If your email provider doesn’t offer it, move to Google. Gmail offers authentication options.
Make sure to secure your computer. Search to malicious software using something like Malwarebytes.com
Somehow your account info was shared willingly or unwillingly by you or your computer.
Are you submitting tickets to the Activision web site or to the blizzard website via the support link in the top-right corner of this page?
Something’s not making sense. The problem you describe is not an unusual one as while one team is trying to revolver an account, another team may be investigating and locking it due to malicious activity - which often happens with compromised accounts.
Generally, once the account is returned to your control, just re-opening the ticket and noting that the account is now locked, will get it unlocked.
No, unfortunately, they don’t. The only Blues you’ll find here are our SFAs, and they have absolutely nothing to do with anything involving account recovery or any of that. Absolutely no other staff comes to this forum, as Perl said, this forum is one for players to assist other players.
Now, for all the people who’ve come here with the gamut of issues, never once has anyone come back with “It’s Activision’s fault, nothing we can do.” So off the bat, I do wonder if you went about this the proper way, because nothing would have been mentioned about CoD or anything else.
First off, you need to secure your account if you haven’t already. Create a new e-mail account, only use it for WoW/Battle.net. They’ve got an article here where it’ll take you step by step.
You can submit a ticket through this path once your computer is clear and everything secured: https://us.battle.net/support/en/help/product/services/316/973/solution
Just terrible, I’ve put in numerous tickets through blizzard and Activision support. I have secured ALL of my accounts. I was without my PC for about 3 months and come back to everything compromised. Here is what they said after stating everything that’s happened. “All Call of Duty bans and restrictions are implemented by Activision and cannot be appealed through us.” I do not have any CoD bans or anything and the new tickets I’ve put in through blizzard are saying my ticket doesn’t relate to the issue.
Yeah, if they’re going on about Call of Duty, you submitted things incorrectly. Follow the links I gave you above. If you don’t have one, download the authenticator app and make sure you get the SMS as well. But you can do nothing here through the forums, only through tickets.
Now, fair warning. Unfortunately, this is a bit of poor timing, as ticket times are at about 7ish days last I heard, so this is not a quick fix. No, there isn’t a phone number to contact, tickets is it. Use the link I gave you. This one right here: https://us.battle.net/support/en/help/product/services/316/973/solution
Through that link you can submit your ticket to the right place where you need to be.
Authenticator and SMS have both been setup on everything, I will try once again with your link. Thank you for your help.
There are offenses that can be committed within WoW that can result in the entire battle.net account being banned, not just a particular WoW license on that account.
I would assume that there would also be things that could be done within CoD that could likewise result in a battle.net account ban.
Bottom line would be if your entire battle.net account is banned because of CoD activity, it could only be unbound by the CoD people, not the WoW support team.
Of course, you are most welcome. Like I said, I’m sorry the timing is poor for this to happen when ticket times are so terrible, but hopefully everything will get straight for you. Good luck with things!
Not exactly. If you read the response you received it is specifically referring to a Call of Duty account. Obviously an error since you don’t have Call of Duty on this Battle.net account, but otherwise, CoD is absolutely under their jurisdiction. Sorry for the confusion though, I’m not exactly sure how you received that particular response.
The trouble here, is that we’ve received some fraudulent contacts, so we have an abundance of caution when handling the account.
You do have a couple of tickets open, so a Game Master should be able to review the lock and see what they can do.
It does not look like all the characters were deleted. A bunch appear to be transferred here and there, but otherwise I see a good number of higher level characters.
