Account suspended without an answer

Howdy Customer Support,

In reference to ticket 105354782

My account was suspended at 2am on the 8th, 6+ days ago (I had been offline for many hours by that point). I am utterly confused as to how I was suspended, so I immediately submitted an appeal at 6am when I saw this, concerned my account was potentially compromised. It has been 6 days now and the suspension is nearly up, and still no word on a reply or reason.

I was planning to push gladiator over the last week and this next week, however that has been entirely shut down due to this and now it won’t be possible to have enough queue sessions until the end of the season with long queue times for pvp, etc., however, I would still appreciate knowing what exactly I was suspended for in order to not do this again in the future. I had recently done a few BGs, said things like ā€˜focus the priest in teamfight’ ā€˜gg’ ā€˜get outta mid and help fc’… etc. so I am really confused as to how I am suspended.

A couple weeks ago I was also suspended for chat, and when asked for a reason I was told I was suspended for saying things like (in quote from the ticket reply) ā€œhes so madā€ and whispering and calling someone a loser for AFKing in solo shuffle, so when resuming playing I made sure to not have any banter whatsoever, so I would like to understand how my account is suspended and how I have had an open ticket for nearly 7 days at this point.

Thank you.

Penalties are rarely given WHILE the offense is going on. This was actually multiple reports from your last suspension till recently. Toxicity and profanity was the problem.

Penalties stack. This license has had one previous suspension and two previous silences.

Thank you for the quick reply, is there any way I could get details of what was toxic or profane? I don’t remember saying anything in any public chat that included any sort of profane language, maybe directly saying something to bnet friends like what the hell, but nothing outside of that I can’t recall and I’d like to understand what to avoid in the future.

Well, F bombs, when reported, are going to be upheld every time.

I honestly did not know you weren’t allowed to cuss in this game? There’s a profanity filter I thought? The rules just seem very unclear to me and I’m trying to clarify them in my mind to figure out how to move forward if I want to continue playing this game. People say the F word very regularly, and I am honestly doubting that I typed it (is ā€˜wtf’ also a bannable offense?) and if I did I don’t understand the context, and if someones going to get suspended then why let people type it in the first place? I’m just extremely confused.

Nope.

Yep. It still doesn’t mean that it’s allowed. It’s sort of a ā€œI don’t wanna see it if somebody decides to break the rulesā€ type of dealio.

Cussing always been against the rules and actionable profanity filter is just a excuse players use to break the rules if u cant say anything nice then dont say anyting at all. If u cant do the time dont do the crime.

Profanity has never been allowed in WoW - for players to use. Nor have slurs, hateful speech, sexual content, certain bodily functions, illegal substances, advertising, spam, etc.

This goes back to 2004 when it was first released. The profanity filter is to protect kids from those who can’t follow the rules, not for people to break the rules.

Note the date here… people have been saying the same thing basically since the game released.

GRRR it won’t let me link the image vs the album. The album will show up distorted on the forums. There we go!

After three previous penalties for earlier infractions, I’m amazed you didn’t get the hint.

Take your short vacation as a learning lesson, if you do, it will be easy to avoid further actions in the future… Remember WOW is a game designed for people of all ages including younger teens, so expect young adults to always be listening to your chat, and then communicate and act appropriately. Also as others have advised, the filters are not a license to break the rules. They are simply a way to prevent some unacceptable behavior from reaching some users, but its not fool proof and there are lots of people who simply don’t appreciate that kind of behavior and will happily report you.

Good luck in the future.

Something else to note, Blizzard does not scan chat in real time. They require other players to first report that chat. What you say to your friends in private chats where they are not likely to report you won’t get you in trouble.

It is what you say in public chats, groups, or whispers to strangers. Those are likely to get reported if you are breaking the player code of conduct (which is not the same thing as the game rating).

All within the last month, and as I explained one I called someone a loser for AFKing, the first was suspended because I made a silly name (I’ll admit, was fair). I’m just really curious about the specific context of this suspense. I’ve played this game for nearly 15+ years on this account have both said and seen things far worse that a small amount of profanity. I’ve definitely typed cuss words like ā€˜sorry i up’ etc or, but i’ve never used any slurs or anything like that. It seems within the last month things are being enforced differently and I’m trying to get context as to whats changed and what do I need to change. I’m not trying to argue against things, as I’ve said in all of these posts, trying to figure out what exactly I shouldn’tve said, etc.

Well, since you did it here, I’ll also mention.

Profanity isn’t allowed. Not explicitly, not abbreviated, not masked - nor misspelled.

Stop swearing as mentioned by orlyia thats whats getting u into trouble enforcement hasnt changed its the player base that taken a harder stance at toxicity and reporting more and more. Had u done nothing wrong you wouldnt be in this boat again.

It doesn;'t matter how bad you have been in the past or how many times you have broken the rules. All that matters is that if you break the rules, say swearing in chat, even if masked, if you are reported, you will be actioned. It’s always been this way, and the only real difference is it’s extremely easy to report people know while in the past it was a hassle. As Mirasol commented, Blizzard doesn’t scan text, all they do is action people based on reports they get. Which means, people are reporting you for swearing and being toxic.

Going forward, modify your behavior, realize you could be speaking with children or adults that don’t appriciate your toxicity, and if you decide you want too speak your mind in an offensive way, understand if reported, you will continue to get vacations until you get banned.

The context isn’t a factor - cussing, shorten, misspelled or otherwise trying to bypass the filter - is against the rules.

Okay, thanks for this. I genuinely did not know this after playing this game on the same account since 2008. I’ve never had any sort of chat ban, silence, etc until the last month. This feels like 80% of the playerbase could essentially get suspended or banned if you simply reported them (as im sure most accounts have typed a cuss word a time or two), I wasn’t aware that cuss words were not allowed in game. Still really begs the question of why allow the message to even be sent?

I think were done here hes got his answer.

Not fully, I’m curious to know exact context, but at least I learned the underlying reason.
