Yeah, I got the email. And I got an appeal request response. They stated that it was for Account Sharing. I’m currently appealing (and under the impression it has something to do with my company’s russian VPN.)
Uhhhh. Yeah that would pop up as suspicious.
You certainly CAN use your account from more than one location. Providing that there is enough time for you to get to said location prior to logging in there. Say you live in Dallas, you log out of the game and 10 minutes later, you log in in Las Vegas. There wasn’t enough time to get there, so either compromised account, or account sharing would cause the account to be locked out. Now say, 4 hours pass, that is a reasonable time via airlines to travel to Vegas from Dallas, and you might have to change password, but you would still have access to the account.
Those who don’t use the same VPN all the time for anything Blizzard related might seem to log in in New York, the log out and a few minutes later, log in from Singapore. That would usually indicate account sharing, which could cause the suspension.
Just to clarify, access outside of your normal pattern may be challenged by our systems. If you have an Authenticator on the account that is taken into account so isn’t as common.
You can log into the account and play from pretty much anywhere in the world, Rainmyst. Jumping from California to Russia or Iowa to Brazil in under an hour, unless you are about to corner the market on teleportation, probably going to raise a few red flags.

Well this is me. Work PC is VPN’d, and like any good employee, I’m playing the AH while working. Then I jump to my powerhouse gaming pc after work that isn’t VPN’d.
I totally understand the reason it would be flagged, I’m just disgruntled in the fact that I haven’t been able to explain, since I wasn’t really given a reason, and I’m just making assumptions that this is probably why. But that’s why the appeal process exists… fingers crossed.
I can’t really speak to the action but I can say that our Hacks team is very familiar with how VPN’s work so use of them wouldn’t generally be a factor.
Hopefully they are able to check on yours and find an error or false positive though. That is what the appeal process is for.
Unless you are about to corner the market on teleportation
I’m currently looking for investors.
Kidding. Thanks for your response. It’s in the hands of the hacks, now.
If they could get this done before raid time i’ll buy 'em a 4 pack of tall boys from Bottle Logic.
Same thing has happened to me, Came home from running errands my account was locked and said that the reason was Unauthorized Account Access. I have had this account for 13 years and has only been me on the account. Ive had my account compromised a couple of times, last recent was back in januaryish and didnt know till a few months later when i came back from a wow break. Ive gotten little to no context on all of this and still waiting for an email back. Worst part about this is, ive finally found my self a solid mythic raid team to push with and i get suspended the night before heroic opens.
Grab a ticket and take a seat. There’s coffee in the wait-room.
This should just be the standard security lock, not a suspension. Typically you fix it by resetting the password from the new location. Did you do that?
If it was an actual Account Sharing suspension though, yeah you need to put in a ticket.
sets out cocoa, cookies, and some strong coffee (with cream).
No I had to recover the whole account back then, but havent had any issue in that realm since then.
Just got a generic response on my ticket.
“Greetings. The action will not be reversed or changed under any circumstances. Future appeals will no longer receive additional reviews”
Can’t complain. See you all in a month.
Scheming
This is an exceptionally poor forum to troll. I edited so I wasn’t forced to silence you here, please don’t make it necessary.

So just to be clear. If you are suspended by mistake there is no explanation or possibility of further appeal beyond the first one. That seems like poor policy. I am a teaching assistant at a university. When a student cheats we at least provide them our evidence and give them a chance to explain themselves before reporting them to the office of academic integrity.
No two situations are the same, so it really depends on the information that they’ve collected and used to determine if the account action is justified.
Typically speaking, once you are told that no further appeals will be reviewed, that’s the end of it.
You can appeal multiple times until you reach a point where Blizzard states no more appeals.
Hey Nephe.
Yeah, for me I reached out trying to understand what was going on. I got a response about account sharing and the ticket was closed before I could respond or ask any questions or explain myself.
I opened a second appeal just to follow up, try to take a shot at what I expected the issue to be (VPN related, still don’t really know), and received a short response back mimicking the first, and then they closed out any future appeals.
I think it’s just not policy to give any details, which means I can’t give any explanation. It is what it is at this point, and we might as well lock this thread.
You can appeal until they tell you no further appeals will be heard. Sounds like the OP appealed twice and was told. I appealed a forum action 3 times before it was overturned, just as an anecdotal example.
Unfortunately you are comparing apples to bell bottom jeans. The appeal process is not a chance for somebody to argue their case. Blizzard looks at internal data and determines yes or no. Violation or not. Simple as that. Context, intent, etc. is completely irrelevant. Upon appeal, a fresh set of eyes, as in a completely different person, will take a look at the data and determine if the penalty was warranted or not. Yes or no. Occasionally, a higher up specialty department will look at it. This may be why, emphasis on maybe, you can be told no further appeals upon a second appeal. It was already reviewed by the top of the team so to speak.
Hope that helps to understand the process a little better.
Look at what they did to my boy
A good guildie held out of opening night just for using a VPN. Multiple appeals and it appears that all hope is lost. I am wildly disappointed
