Account Locked refund request

I renewed my 6-month subscription last Saturday to hop into Northrend and the next morning I found my account was locked. I submitted a ticket reporting this issue and have still received no response from customer support. I’ve reached out to my bank to contest the charge and am requesting a refund since I have not been able to play. The “account locked” link on the battle.net window just sent me to a page that explains my account may have been locked as a result of violating the terms and conditions for code of conduct. Maybe my account was hacked but I have no clue. All I did was do a few quests in howling fjord and a few dungeon runs during the short time I had access to my account after renewing my subscription.

Chargeback is the worst thing you couldve done i wouldve filed a apeal first.

I seem to be confused about what you see on your account.

If your account is locked, usually changing your password would unlock it.

If your account is suspsended, that would require an account appeal, but you should have received an email explaining why and how to appeal.

If your account is compromised, during the appeal it will likely be noticed that the account was not accessed by someone at your location.

If your account was suspended because of someone else accessing your account at your location, then what happens on it is still the owners responsibility.

Ticket times are beyond normal now due to a number of issues, but if you received a ticket number, then your ticket is still pending review and should be coming up shortly.

Please note, I am not a employee, and there are not GM’s watching this forum. A moderator might be able to clarify what is going on, but ultimately this will have to be handled by a ticket. Which you hopefully opened sucessfully.

On this Battlenet? The only license I see on this one that is locked is a very very old starter license.

Your named license - which is even older, had a sub starting on 10/8 - and it looks fine.

Double-check you are on the correct license in the dropdown

So, you don’t know why your account is locked? Don’t they usually send you an email saying “Hey, we’re locking your account because of (insert reason here).” Not sure why you’re wanting a refund so quickly. I’d at least get your access to your account back first then get a refund.

Hopefully you come back and explain what it is your seeing, otherwise as noted, you should be good to go.

Requesting a refund is the only option I see that I have at this point. I submitted a ticket over a week ago and haven’t received a response back to that ticket. I also didn’t receive any email explaining why my account was locked.

So why are you requesting a refund? Is it because you don’t want to play anymore and have given up on Blizzard? Or is it because you’re frustrated? Because I really don’t think you should be trying to get a refund if you can’t even access your locked account.

Read the Blue post. Your account isn’t locked. Check the account drop down on the Battle.net launcher. Sounds like you are trying to log into your old starter account.

Read the blue post but I don’t think that is the case. Not at my house right now but I will double check to confirm I am trying to launch the game on the right account and not that starter account when I am back home later tonight and will update you guys. I appreciate the quick responses!

It is very common for the launcher to display a license you have not recently used and it makes people think they have no characters, no gear, no game time, etc. It would not be your fault. It is just something the launcher can do, esp if it has no recent history to go by.

Hopefully when you get home you can verify what the Blizz blues have to say and the license with game time on it is active and available.

If you did put game time on the wrong license and can’t play it, they can usually refund that if you ask in a timely way so you can put that on the proper license you wanted. Chargebacks are a poor idea as they can cause an account to be locked until re-paid which is not a simple thing.

Just got home, checked the launcher, and the blue post was right! For some reason my launcher changed my account to the inactive license with no game time and that was the reason it was showing it was locked. I feel like a big dumby now lol! and lost a week of game time because I didn’t look into it closer. this has never happened to me before though so I just didn’t think that was likely the case… but turns out it was. still don’t know why it changed to that locked license but thanks everyone for the help! Glad I can jump back into Northrend now  sorry about the false alarm

Good to hear that the issue was a simple one

Not sure if this will work on a locked starter game, but you can give this self-help option a try and remove that starter so it is no longer on your account:

Woot! Great news. I am sorry you lost a week, but really glad it is resolved and all your chars are there to play.

Another launcher oddity - sometimes it does not display the amount of game time you have left correctly. A sync issue with the account server maybe? Always check your actual account on the website to verify game time applied, currently in use, or pending billing.

Used that link to remove my starter account, quick and easy! Thank you very much! Now I will never run into that issue again haha

Glad to hear it! Another suggestion: call your bank and cancel the chargeback. If it goes through, then you are going to encounter more issues in a few days.

Just going to pop in here and suggest that you contact your bank if you actually started the chargeback and cancel it. If you don’t, this account will also be locked, and you won’t want to go through that hassle if you don’t need to.
