I accidentally bought CoD BO4 instead of Vanguards by mistake. I immediately went to the support site to start the automatic refund process, but when I submitted my request it was denied because “There has been a recent penalty on your account”. Like over a month ago I was suspended for a week for language, which was my mistake. But how can you block someone refunding a product they purchased by mistake for this? I am genuinely curious if this is legal.
Had to submit an appeal which has to be viewed manually by a GM.
I don’t know what you expect us to do about it other than make fun of you for somehow going through the entire checkout process without realizing you were buying the wrong game.
Blizz is full blown smooth brained if they think all those accounts I RaF’d over the years were real people
Surprise!
It was just me buying the RaF rewards because you won’t put them anywhere else so I have like 12 wow accounts at this point
I once tried to start an ironman character in Old School Runescape and wrongly assumed the guy to activate it was outside the tutorial island and had already put members on it (ain’t no way I play runescape f2p…) Once I realised my mistake, I made another character made sure it was ironman, and contacted Jagex to transfer membership and it took less than a hour and it was done.
I’d probably go to CS or get on the phone. Seems bogus, but if they actually have legal grounds and continue to use them I’d probably just dispute the charge on my card saying it was an incorrect purchase that the merchant won’t refund.
However always have to note that disputing the charge will result in Blizzard blacklisting that specific card so it’s up to you.
Step one is an automated help tool that has some very basic conditions.
14 days from purchase
not played for more than 2 hours
not related to a penalty
you have not been buying and refunding stuff a lot
If any one of those conditions is not met you go to step two which is having a real GM look over the account. They will determined that a WoW language violation has nothing to do with your CoD purchase mistake and issue the refund.
Yes. YOu are not blocked from a refund. You were just denied by the automatic tool because something on your account needed human eyes.
They do this because a common scam would be to buy a new account, bot/spam/break rules for X period of time then refund it. They don’t issue refunds for games when the person got themselves banned. Accounts with penalties or frequent refunds require human eyes.
Tyreal’s Charger was not really “free”. It was a reward for paying your WoW subscription every month for a year. It also came with Diablo 3 and access to MoP Beta.
If you signed up for the contract and did not meet the terms - as in did not pay your sub each month for the 12 months - you did not get the mount. You also could not retroactively request it by saying “I paid for the past year just give it to me”. You had to actually sign up for the program THEN pay your sub fees.
Blizz has no problem with people recruiting themselves and used to help people do it by explaining how on the CS forums.
Im an old bf1942 player…got hooked on the free wake island map when it first came out, never tried cod until recently…
downloaded, installed and cod was free for 3 days (vanguard)…this was dec 23 when i installed…
graphics are nice, game engine i think is outstanding however it ends there…
maps absolutely suck…and there is no manually choosing maps, their chosen for you along with the size (I am a fan of large engagements not the stupid little 6v6 crap)
anyway…dec 23 install…for 2 days i play,or try to…constant game crashes…packet burst errors…disconnects…and small maps (not the large maps that was advertised) but alas,i figured this is activisions way of “teasing” so i bought it…on dec 25th (christmas day)
now…3 days free play…i play for 2 then purchase…those 2 days i estimate out of 100% gameplay time…i spent 60% trying to reconnect to their servers and recovering from crashes…dec 26 after seeing that there was no map i liked and constant gameplay issues, crashes, etc i asked for a refund from blizz…i was told i played to much on the game and cannot be refunded, explanations of alot of that time was trying to reconnect fell on deaf ears…
cod has no forum…it was shut down…you deal with blizz if blizz store is where you purchased…and when an issue arises blizz tells you to contact cod support (which doesnt exist)
sorry to say…your gonna have to suck this one up and learn as i did…if anything has an activision name attached you should have known better as i should have…
in all fairness though…they did have “big map blitz” on last month in rotation…i battled both players and crashes/disconnects but it was the type of maps i like…but fun was detected and those maps are no longer in rotation and havent seen them (20v20–24v24) since…
mabey there are some that like the small crappy maps with 6 people per side…armed with smg’s that rival the best sniper rifle made “and” operate at 25k rpm…but im not one of them…
honestly if they’re legit not refunding a purchase someone wants to return because they bought the wrong product because the dude said a curse word a few weeks ago, that’s skeevy as heck.
It’s legal. Companies don’t owe you a refund, but most will give you one. If it were illegal than the thousands of business who do “no refunds” would be sued on the daily.
End of the day it was your mistake for rushing the purchase and not paying attention. I’m still fairly sure they’ll give you one after the ticket. But illegal? No.
Personally, I’ve never been that big a fan of CoD so after seeing that message, my next conversation would be with my Bank and I’ll happily go find some other FPS.
