So people can’t play the game because Blizz banned a few people who hurt other people’s egos by offering a gear path unacceptable to other said players?!?
I’m beeing silenced. I get an email telling me i’ve been reported multiple times by ABUSIVE LANGUAGE. If “WTS Torghast Layers 1-12” is ABUSIVE LANGUAGE, i have no idea what isn’t
Stop bringing up semantics. They provide the exact same restrictions in game. One is automated after N (where N is currently unknown) reports and the other is given after a GM has reviewed the reports and confirms that it’s a valid report.
I’m not bringing up semantics. If you bothered to read my post you’d understand there’s a discussion in the CS forums that I started in there for further information.
If he’s getting straight-up silenced then that means a GM is manually reviewing things and deciding the account should be silenced. If silencing individuals for selling boosts, assuming they’re not spamming, is becoming a theme, then it needs stopped and the GMs need to be trained better.
He specifically said “spam”. I specifically stated an example in which someone could post ONCE (literally the antithesis of "spam) and could still get silenced. Hopefully that helps clear up you’re confusion.
But at least it’s legitimate “trade” content. The issue isn’t necessarily whether or not people that ARE spamming are getting silenced. The issue IS that people can report others for not spamming ; posting even a single time; or as the GM’s have recommended - no more than once every couple of minutes.
Agreed, but I also think the squelch shouldn’t be happening if they can’t review the appeals in a timely manner. Having your gameplay disrupted for a day or more waiting on an appeal for something that doesn’t result in a silence is not very player friendly either.
It may be worth asking about this on the CS forum for further clarification. Do note that if you actually did something wrong, they will call you out on it.
They definately need to be trained better. It is insane how many people don’t understand the difference between banning BOOSTING COMMUNITIES and banning boosting itself. We had only 2 blue posts about it, and yet, people still don’t understand, and that is causing the mass reports for no reason.
If that was the only problem tho, the thing is GM’s aren’t actually even looking into those reports. I am not using abusive language and just a QUICK LOOK into my trade chat log would show that. They are literally going full-auto on the silences, which is just sad.
The definition of spam is not just ‘repeated messages quickly’. but “irrelevant or inappropriate messages sent on the internet to a large number of recipients.” Or " unsolicited usually commercial messages (such as emails, text messages, or Internet postings) sent to a large number of recipients or posted in a large number of places." I.E. Something like an Advert that’s unwanted by players. Hopefully learning the definition helps clear up your* confusion.
ANY message in trade chat meets this definition. The only ones that wouldn’t are DM’s to a “WTB” message; but then the “WTB” message would subsequently meet the “unsolicited” aspect.
The lesson to learn here would be the difference of adverts to a private area (mailbox, DM, etc.) vs. a public “forum” such as a trade channel. You can’t apply the “unsolicited” component to the latter because then every message would be in violation the instant anyone wants to decide that they don’t want to see it.
You are continually looking at it from the side of your perspective only. Why should other players who want to enjoy a game have nothing power wise to do with someone who is being toxic, angry, a jerk, or honestly…probably like you act, and not have anything to do. They pay the same sub fee you do, and you or the other person makes the choice to be a jerk
