Having an authenticator is not taking features away from paying customers. It’s protecting your account. They also give you in game rewards for having an authenticator. Which just because your account hasn’t been hacked yet, doesn’t mean it won’t ever be. Not to mention that people often have similar passwords, for various accounts, so a hacked WoW account could lead to a hacked Bank account, pretty easily. This is all about safety, there isn’t anything malicious about it.

If you’re not using 2FA on important accounts, you are playing with fire. Has nothing to do with how secure YOU personally keep your account. You are not immune to companies themselves being compromised.

You agreed to that in the EULA. I know that is a tecnicality, but an MMO changes over time, that is a given. Features change, items changes, abilities change, the whole game changes.
That is the nature of such things.
If you disagree, you can decide where your money goes.
It is certianly a negative thing for those who don’t have a cell phone, don’t have a paid contract plan, or just don’t want it. But the majority benefit from less LFG spam. That is a topic that has gotten a LOT of angry feedback by player demanding Blizz stop it.
Oh, and you need a max level char too I hear? In addition to the Auth. Should hopefully reduce some of those stolen or throw away account spammers.

Keep your clichés to yourself. Going to “bad sites” is not how most account credentials are compromised.
They have taken nothing away from you. And the authenticator doesn’t cost you a dime.

I disabled my addons and it fixed this… Then re-enabled only ElvUI and it still functioned correctly. Guess is that addon authors need to do some code updating.

No. It is only required to do free form text in GF.
They couldn’t even be bothered to apply it to trade chat spam.
So it isn’t for “security”. It is just an asinine way to try and solve LFG sell groups.
