You can use the group finder just fine without an authenticator. It auto generates all of the information needed. You not being able to type out your own title isn’t the game not functioning fully.

No idea. The other two MMOs I play have authenticators. And they’re more needy than Blizz’s. I have to enter the code every time for Old Republic. I have to enter it once a week or so for Rift. I haven’t heard from my authenticator for WoW in ages.
He means the criminal groups that target and exploit games to sell game currency, items, boosts, etc is a multi Billion dollar industry, mostly outside the reach of US law.
Those who buy from them often find themselves compromised in game, or their financial info stolen to buy throw away spam accounts.
Don’t spread misinformation. I go through Total Wireless, i.e. I buy cards every month to pay for my phone and I can use the Authenticator perfectly fine, same with SMS protect. I was with Net10 prior on an Android (have an iPhone now) and had no issues.
Solutions have been given for the auth issue, it’s just people wanting to put up barriers it seems, I’d personally rather have safety and less spam over what we had.
If the auto populated group finder for quests is broken that would be a bug. It should not be related to this. The change does not impact games that are manually named.
You are going to the boss area and using the group finder there right? It is all automated.
I think the new requirement is a step in the right direction. I can already see where the problems are going to be, but something had to be done about the ads.
I think this is was a great idea personally.
Shouldn’t need an authenticator either. Frankly an addon seems less impactful to me.
Somewhat telling too, that an addon creator could solve something that the devs could not.
He is not wrong. You are very very lucky yours works. Generally you need a contract phone these days to set up the Auth and it sets up SMS Protect at the same time.
It depends on how the phone company has the number registered. Some are registered as pre-paid but are not (Cricket), others may be pre paid but not properly tagged.

Yes I am at the boss and its not working right…it just spins and spins…I have only been able to get to it too work twice tonight with total of 12 lvl 60’s I have…its not working correctly.

Ok, but it did work. So it is not a consistent bug. I do wonder if the group finder is overloaded in some way. Not sure if due to patch day and reset day (higher player load), or something related to the new restriction. I would guess patch + Tues, but still.

Either high pop or new changes. Either way the impact on players is negative.

This is not some onerous process. I only have to engage with my authenticator when I’m on a new computer, and even then, I only have to press one button. The deluge of complaints about this seem off base and potentially even malicious. There’s a reason Blizzard is requiring this, and it’s to stop people from spamming LFG. My guess is that the spammers would like them to revert this change. The only real reason I can think of to be so angry about this is that scenario. I’m not talking about OP specifically, but there are a lot of threads about this, some of which are just rage filled. Keep in mind the context when reading them.

My issue, is that if I list a group specifically, it declines. I am able to solo queue into LFR, but I have not even gotten to the queue point for LFR with a group.
The groups I list are done to try and find some people to do it with me, but the group can never form, because it delists every minute. I had a person whisper me, because they thought I intentionally delisted it, but I can’t help but wonder how many ppl I missed out on joining my group because of this.
Edit: My account does have an authenticator, which is why I think it’s particularly weird.
A computer and a stable internet connection are much more difficult to come by than an authenticator. I suspect you’re just seeking attention.
Quit white knighting. My account has worked fine for 13 years I have never been hacked. I don’t visit bad sites or download viruses. Its that simple. They are taking away features from paying customers.
Got hacked years ago and put the authenticater on my mobile. It is so simple you don’t have to authenticate every single time but just ONCE and that is it. And you just press ONE button on your phone when you log in for the first time on a new computer that’s it. REally easy.
And you get extra bag space it’s not much to ask to keep you safe and keep gold sellers from using party listing to scam people.
