It’s a “cool down” feature where if the system sees rampant flagging going on across a number of posts, it assumes there’s a heated debate going on and locks the thread down because tempers are flaring.
The theory is that it makes people take a step back and compose themselves and calm down.

Oh they have tried. I had a ton of greens when I woke up this morning. I will not tokenize the good graces of the moderation team but I do want this locked once the other thread opens. The other thread has everything to do with wow culture. This one is just me bringing to light a rather serious issue with the Forum culture. Hence they are different threads.
That I support Obama? No, not that it matters. I did support some of his programs though. I believe in human rights. Even if it costs those that can afford to lose a little to have to pay up some.
I got forum moderator experience. No they don’t calm down. I just know that if people are reporting threads for silly reasons I just ignore the notices until they give me a good reason.
“Politics” is not just a word to describe anything controversial. It has a meaning, and LGBT representation does not fall under it. Asking for LGBT representation in WoW is in fact related to WoW. Objectively. Factually.
No, they don’t. You can’t just label everywhere you go as an escape from reality and use that as an excuse to censor people. That is not valid, and I hope that you will take steps to be more considerate of other people’s right to speak freely in the future. The forum is for discussions between real people. It’s a part of reality, not a part of WoW.
Well the thing about that is, he likely got moderated when forum staff reviewed the thread after the first lock and wasn’t posting when the 2nd and 3rd lock took place. The third lock came exactly one post after the second, which does kind of strongly suggest false flagging. The second lock happened, a mod reviewed the thread, ONE POST happened that wasn’t even nasty? And it got locked again.
It’s pretty egregious.
I wasn’t entirely sure until I read what Alacialuun said. What they said makes sense and seems reasonable, but I wish there was more human involvement.
I hear ya. I wasn’t trying to get this thread locked or removed. Just responding to the other person. I have no issue with off topic things being in GD mainly because it’s where everyone goes. With that said it makes it a lot easier to run into issues.

We already got a few folks like it in wow already, why add more instead of plot or story?
I can see this thread is staying on topic and promoting healthy discussion.
Should be locked and deleted and if anyone else makes another one they should be suspended.
