I was surprised to learn that we’ll be able to change our genders over in the barbershop now, which is all fine and dandy. However, because of this, I propose one more thing be added to the barbershop. The ability to change our names.
Take Shadina here for example. I have been Shadina for literally over a decade. If I elect to change her gender in the barbershop, a male being named Shadina (an obviously female name) just would look odd, and keeping with the theme of self-identification being important, if I wanna change her name, I shouldn’t have to pay money for it. That’s the only other thing that cannot be changed in the barbershop at that point.

The name change thing makes sense, it’s kind of like they are opening a can but only halfway.

The thing is there’s no getting around paying money for it because when you pay gold for it, which has a dollar weight to it. So I think if you could it shouldn’t be at the barber it should be somewhere else and it should be about 70k? I would say that’ equals around ten dollars.

Name changes shouldn’t be bought at the barber.
Name changes are easy to abuse. Be a jerk, change your name. Might make it hell for people you want to keep track of you, to keep track of you.
It’s a 10 buck feature.
And shadina sounds fabulous for a male blood elf.
I’m pretty excited to learn about the free sex changes in the game.
Although I wish I had chosen a better race for my Paladin. Draenei dudes are…ugh
With the new draenei customization I think they will be tier 1
Ignore options persist through name changes, as well as friending someone on your friends list. If you encounter someone who’s rude / mean / someone you don’t wish to talk to, invoke your ability to ignore them and that no longer becomes an issue.
Like I said in another thread, I don’t think name changes should be changeable on the fly. I foresee problems with that.
Less of that and more of “server reputation”.
I prefer it when being a douchebag can get you blacklisted on your server. Hard to blist someone that changes their name every 2 minutes.
It also screws with the current naming system. If a toon over level 30 is renamed or deleted that name is soft locked to the account for a while in the off chance you want to reuse it. At least it used to work like that, and I’ve no indication that it changed.
You could keep names tied up forever.

I foresee a heck of a lot of issues with this; between hoarding names based on the current system, to players ducking server reputation. A better solution would be for Blizzard to modernize their naming system, with each account having a last name. From there you could name your PC whatever you wanted in the barber shop.
