Weeping Angels and the Silence were the pinnacle of Doctor Who monsters for the revival.
did they announce the 14th doctor yet???/
Iām not expecting Doctor Who to be relevent to WoW.
Then again, I did not see the EvE-Who crossover coming ā¦
I gave up after Matt Smithās first season.
Chris Eccleston > David Tennant > the rest.
I tried it when it was brought back in 2005 but the only characters I really liked were Rose and Martha and you had to wade thru a lot of silly for the sharply intelligent bits so I only binge watched sporadically before giving up completely about half way thru Matt Smithās run.
Loved Torchwood though for its short run.
Dr. Who was great until the show went woke and charged the Doctorās origin. That pissed ton of fans off and from that point, the franchise is on life support.
I loved Doctor Who up through Matt Smith. He was my favorite doctor. David Tennant was the best though, and I will never say otherwise. Matt Smith was just my favorite. Peter Capaldi was okay. Heād have probably grown on me a bit more if I kept watching. But I heard what was after him and sort of justā¦lost interest. Never finished his episodes out.
I grew up on Doctor Who in the 70s and 80s but I donāt like the new incarnation (2005 to present). The original Who was all about the scripts, characters, acting, and taking the time to tell a story. New Who is just about people running around screaming to jazzy music in compressed scripts.
There are other Doctors than Tom Baker?
considering only the newer series:
Eccleston doesnāt count.
I loved Tennantās Dr. loved.
Smithās was OK but I didnāt really like him.
I loved Capaldi but think the writers hosed him over. he had some great moments.
I cannot stand the most recent Dr, not because sheās a woman, butā¦ I just didnāt like her. I also didnāt like that she had a whole party of companionsā¦ it was justā¦ why? it was too much. I stopped watching midway through her first season.
but pretty much, this. if all anyone knows of Dr. Who is the newer stuff, go back and watch the old stuff. itās so good.
as for companions
why does everyone love Donna? she was a screeching, annoying screecher mc screecherson. just nothing redeemable about her at all.
nothing to take seriously, good second monitor content, falls apart a little when you actually start paying attention to it.
havenāt seen the last 2 doctors worth of the show so canāt really comment on them.
The only thing I know about Doctor Who is that The Howard Stern Show used to use the theme song when Eric the Actor (RIP) used to call in.
When I hear this music I think of the Stern Show and Eric the Actor :
ā¦ I was at the convention where Patrick Troughton passed away. We were in the middle of a gaming session when the news came, and we kinda stopped for a moment, stunnedā¦
And then continued because we figured that heād want us to.
Sad that the closest I ever got to one of the actors who played the role was at his endā¦
How many decades of a show that can keep originality? Not more than one.
MASH lasted almost 4 times than the actual years the Korean War occured.
I watched jodies first season but it wasnāt very good so I didnāt return after.
When they decided to make it so the doctor wasnāt a timelord at all, lived countless lives before the first doctor, killed off all the timelords, and spat on all the loreā¦ yeah im never watching again
Oh, they hired the same writers as WoW?
The biggest improvement when they restarted Dr Who in 2005 that went through Capaldiās doctor was with the companions. In the old series they were just drones who were there so the Doctor could explain to the audience what was going on. Starting in 2005 they were real characters who actually added to the storylines.
The big problem with the 13th doctor is not Jodie Whittaker, she does fine. The problem is the show runner Chris Chibnall and the writers who have failed completely at creating any chemistry between the Doctor and the companions.
Watching the new shows is sort of like watching some people in the real world who work together and get along fine but at the end of the day they just say good night, see you tomorrow or have a nice weekend. At least that was what it was like in the first season of the 13th Doctor.
To get the ratings back they need to go back to making the companions more important and recreating the chemistry between them and the doctor. Then they should be fine.
