Yeah again I just am at a loss as to why we need a character boost in this version of the game. Where they’re attempting to recreate a legitimate classic experience of TBC. I’m really dumbfounded here.
I understand some people like it because they don’t want to level through vanilla but this shouldn’t be the compromise.
Tell me you’ve ever had more fun with a boosted character than a real one, or hell, if you’ve ever gotten a friend into the game based on a boosted toon, then you’re lying.
Fingers crossed that this isn’t in the final cut of the game.
Edit : A lot of people have made some wonderful points in this thread and I think I’m just chasing a dragon here. Accept whatever qualms you have with the game and have as much fun as you can.
And being toxic on forums is gonna get you nowhere, hope this gets out to anyone feeling the same type of way I did last night.

Aren’t people going to be leveling belves/draenei anyways?
Yeah, they’re gonna be included in a pre patch giving everyone a chance to get them up to 60 before bc content is released.
So it REALLY just looks like a tasteless cash grab right now.

I honestly don’t think many people will even use the boost for a main character. They’re either going to keep their Classic main or roll one of the new races. The boosts will probably be used by brand new people who don’t like the new races, or people wanting a profession cooldown alt I guess. Maybe bots too? not sure. i think it was a pretty bad idea

How about before you create a thread, you spend some time thinking about everything you want to mention in it. There’s no need to spam new threads about the same topic. Create your thread, make your point and leave it at that.

How about they don’t include character boosts.
And my hope is to get others complaining about it so they won’t include it in the final cut. I’ll make another 5 posts about it

Boosts are happening. Talk to your shrink and yall find a way for you to accept it or go play a different game. Making a dozen posts about it in an hour isn’t going to change anything

It just might homie. And I’ll make another 5, idgaf. So dumb

a lot of these people are private server players crying about the “sanctity” of the game. as if any of them actually played real vanilla/tbc.
Cool. Enjoy your forum vacation.

Yea. I’ve seen people complaining about boosts threaten to just go play on private servers… Apparenly not realizing that instead of boosts most of them just have like a 15x exp boost FOR EVERYTHING, which is way more impactful than a single 1-58 boost
and you can buy gold/gear/mounts/ranks etc from a store on a lot of those servers. but instead of accepting the reality of what they’ve continually accepted from private servers they seek to strong arm and manipulate blizz into giving them their ideal private server experience in a retail version of the game. which is where all the dumb F R E S H stuff comes from. sigh.
Is it a crime that I want to experience the game as it was when I was 12? We were told we were getting the most authentic experience they could provide. I know they aren’t famous for keeping their word but it sucks.
And I’ve never played on private servers because of how it feels. It doesn’t feel like that adventure I was in. Or how I feel when I play classic today. There’s that genuine feeling there. And it’s gonna vanish. And the way theyre headed, where does it stop?

you are a totally different person now than you were at 12. i was like 21ish when tbc came out (it’s late and my math may be off) and even classic wasn’t the same as i remembered it being. the feelings never existed for me in classic, or a lot of people closer to my age at the time that came back. you’re chasing a feeling you’ll never actually be able to catch. classic was ruined by private server meta gaming. tbc will be too. it’s not retail players that are doing this btw. i was so #nochanges for a lot of the time pre-classic and the first few months of classic. then all the retail people left and it was run into the ground by private server people. the same thing will happen again. you’re a retail player who stopped playing. we are retail players that kept playing. the private server people only wanted “no changes” so they could exploit and manipulate everything they had been for 10+ years on the private servers. even the mage boosting meta is private server stuff. essentially every change that’s happening now is cuz of private server related things. like seal of blood. that’s a private server change that blizz is doing cuz to those people that dps is enough to completely reroll to horde for etc. they min max the fun out of the game.

I appreciate the well thought out response, it kinda calmed me down a bit. I think I am chasing a dragon at this point and I’m taking it out on the forums.
You’re right though, wonderful points. Maybe I should just accept and enjoy the game as much as I can.
Its a bit petty of me to be this upset over it. Sorry for all the rage
Just wish I could experience those first steps into Outland all over again.

i stopped playing classic for a while when i realized what was happening. i was heartbroken as well. so i understand. but given what happened. and what’s about to happen again? if we want to enjoy tbc classic (and i do) we need to make sure to enjoy it for what it is, not what retail tbc was in our memories. you know?

Absolutely. It’s not ruined, I don’t think it ever was. Just need to keep in mind that better experiences will only open up to me so long as I allow them to and, actually, the fact that blizz even did this to begin with, much less coming out with BC is a blessing.
I just got a lil twisted last night and wanted to vent out some frustration. But this ended up being a lot more wholesome than I expected.

OK here’s the thing at this point I can only talk for my server.
But most of the time when I see a newbie there are generally only quest him by themselves anyway and onily that it’s a really good chance it’s not a main character.
Like it or not Most people that really do 1A level are probably getting boosted because it’s not their main character.
And new people really are coming to the game like it or not classic while it is not Newbie friendly
Well I guess I shouldn’t say that it’s not friendly when we’re this late in the game and I’m sorry but chances are.
If you are actually wanting to level the traditional way you’re probly gonna be doing it by yourself.
Unless you happen to have a friend who’s making a character with you
Where so late in the game And quite honestly at the pre patch isn’t going to be much different yes sir it’s going to be new talents and it’s going to be easier to level up anyway.
So he really see anyone who’s leveling up its probly going to be a drain I or blood Elf.
I mean me personally What I use the boost at the pans if I have all my sixties already then I would have no reason to.
But again it’s one per account 1.
How many people are really going to keep making accounts just to get that boosted 58.
Let alone you have to pay for each one on top of that so again.
I’m sorry to say this but I just think you’re making a big deal of something that’s just not.
