Once again, I am perfectly aware of those. It has nothing to do with what I said.
So how does that have to do anything with what I said to the other dude that I would love to see him play his classic mage with 3.0-3.5 sec frostbolt/fireball castings in Mythic fights like those?
Season 2, 3, 4 and now season 1 of TWW counts as 4.

I was asking for clarification because I coulda swore ice lance build was good in season 1 of DF.
It was unfortunately and frost was beyond awful and miserable to play.
It stayed w/ the awful build till the mage rework I believe in the .5 patch into S2

Damn never thought id see the day where players would rather just spam FB over and over again and call it good gameplay

Don’t forget this is the “tiktok” generation of players. They’re not capable of having an ability take more than 1 second to ‘go off’. They must have their big numbers now, and if there’s an API of 600 then even better!
Maybe Blizzard needs two versions of retail. One for the under 25s and one for old people who don’t actually mind when a spell takes 2 seconds to cast.
In seriousness though, do people not remember how terrible the gameplay was for Frost for so long? NoIL in BFA, IL-spam in SL, 2-button rotation in DF… Sure, Frost is a little busy between GS, CmS and Ray/CoC but I’d warrant that most players would take that over the garbage rotations we had during the “dark times” (Yes, BFA/SL were worse than WoD and Cata).
It was the best we had & it was weak. Why the revamp at just before Season 2. Mages were in revolt.
Why I call this the Nerf Mages thread.
I agree. I hate comet storm but love GS. I wish they brought back pet freeze instead of comet storm to double shatter those glacials like in bfa.

Glacial Spike is the one thing Frost really does well. It makes the spec as a crowning ability with shatter mechanic, and it’s available all the time. I don’t mind Comet Storm but so many specs are you sitting and waiting for a timer to finish to use the ability which is like whack-a-mole. GS is a good example of class play done right.

I love Glacial Spike with all my heart. I’d hate to see it ever deleted. Thanks for reading!

Very large dps loss in ST to not take it. But in m+ if you want to specialize on freezable enemies it can be valid to drop it when doing large pulls.
Well, with frostfire horribly bugged we really only have the option of playing Spellslinger in Frost and most of the time you won’t really be using glacial spike anyway. I mean…technically we’re supposed to when it’s the “right time”…but this ridiculous rotation right now involves not wanting to use anything with a long cast time for fear of wasting a splinterstorm and you practically have to be clairvoyant to know when that’s going to happen.
Until they change it I’m going to try arcane. Fire is basically not an option right now because it does less damage than tanks.
