A true net negative patch

Like a new team?

I suspect they need to grow a backbone and stand up to the uppers that have no clue at all about coding. They need to scream, “It’s not ready yet!!” a little louder to the idiot bean counters.

Again.

Every patch in WoW’s history has launched with bugs. Every single one. I know because I’ve been playing this game for 20 years; I’ve been here for every major and minor patch launch, including the many vanilla patches that had labels like 1.0.10c because the 10c patch had to fix a bug introduced by the 10b patch.

You could put every patch through a year of QA testing and you’d still have bugs drop on launch.

You keep returning though, so your revolution seems a bit half hearted.

Yea, but this expansion has had more egregious bugs. Not all bugs are equal. Like you’re saying, some are expected and tolerated, but this has been consistently bad to where its broken in certain areas. That’s more of the issue Ive have, is that it’s seemingly every patch. Am I quitting? No, should these people lose their jobs? I don’t think so, but something has to change, and then when you’re trying to actively fix this, and if it still doesn’t get better, then maybe it’s time to move on.

You’re not Ion, but you must be a part of the game’s staff somehow.
You can’t be seriously defending the state this patch has launched in as a player.
So far, it’s indeed a net negative patch for many people, even if I wasn’t even affected at all (no repeat vault over 6 chars, no character lock out, idc about the new UI element).

We really need a longer patch (even expansion) release cycle, with more actual features on release and much more polish, but ignoring PTR bugs to keep the schedule is how Blizzard works.

The timegating is getting out of hand too.

What’s more worrying is the zero compensation, “sucks to be you” approach to the bugs, which seemingly are more impactful these days.

That’s because there is a huge difference between, “Uh oh, this NPC dialogue is misspelled.” and, “Uh oh, where did all my characters go?”

No, not at all.

There were bugs in previous expansions that were so bad Blizzard had to do server rollbacks. There were bugs that were so bad that Blizzard had to give free game time out for the amount of time the game was offline while they fixed them.

The bugs in this expansion? They’re small fry bugs. Minor inconveniences compared to some of the bugs that hit the game in earlier expansions.

Hell, I still remember when Warlords of Draenor launched and no one could enter their garrison because they got ‘instance not found’ errors thanks to a bug, and if you were in your garrison when that bug occurred, you just got instantly DCed on login. And because the garrison was critical to being able to do most of that game’s content, well, not being able to use your garrison meant you were screwed.

Okay. The new dailies are fine. They’re fast and every bag seems to award a piece of gear so putting together the transmog sets should be relatively painless.

The Nightfall event is broken tho. Kind of embarrassing since without Horrific Visions it’s kind of the advertised feature of this phase of the patch.

So you’ve cancelled then, because of yesterday’s issues?

I disagree. There has been some big bugs in past expansion, but to my estimation not at this rate, which is why i was saying, every once in a while I get it happening, but not when it’s literally every patch even the small ones. I also don’t consider not being able to log in a bug or broken game. I consider that to be them working on the game so it’s not broken. I’d rather than honestly than releasing an unstable version.

I think, as it’s been said before, this game has code piled on code. It may get more difficult to keep it stable as time goes on.

You’re free to disagree, but you’re wrong all the same.

Just to quote myself with an edit:

Fun fact, the server instabilities due to bugs in Warlords of Draenor even hit the damn news!

https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-30079037

And if I had the energy and time, I could probably trawl through years and years of posts (including posts on Wowhead, MMO-Champion and Reddit) to find all sorts of complaints about serious bugs that had major impacts on the game.

Which is why this expansion’s bugs have been small-fry bugs. The most significant bug that this expansion has had wasn’t even one that affected most players; it was the bug that impacted the Undermine Race for World First contest.

Or where did my entire 6 tabs full of items in my guild bank go?

That was really bad, and I remember that, but again, I’m talking about the consistency of broken patches, not 1v1 patch vs patch. There has been worse patches than this sure, but the consistency I don’t believe has. Every patch there’s been major issues this expansion. It’s just a fact. It is what it is. I don’t see the need to pretend like it’s not. Doesn’t mean they suck, or people are making fun of Blizz and being mean. It’s just a fact, the game has been very unstable this expansion, and there’s even good evidence when their QA team got fired, or left I forget which one.

How about losing items in your bank/guild bank? Currency during warband transfer?
Which are both bugs that are allegedly still happening, with zero compensation?

No, this expansion takes the cake as the one with the worst bugs without any compensation whatsoever.

Eat my grits

lol even as much as I am in these forums, I logged in and opened my vault. I’m really lucky I didn’t get the bug. Even if I read the notes, I’m still being locked out of my character. I haven’t read anything in any notes about bugs with purchasing something the auction house and being unable to log into my character and then can’t access my warband bank after that until my character becomes available again.

I didn’t know I would have to wait until the next day to buy something from the auction house after that to upgrade a piece of gear I got from the vault, even though I tried on all my characters to do that.

It’s really weird.

The date thing, is less relevant than the bugs and lag. But still would be nice to be highlighted a bit more than they are so people know when it’s coming out without having to look into it so much.

100% the reason they don’t earlier is because it immediately kills any hype for the patch date itself.

Been saying this exact thing since this all started, but sadly blizz higher ups don’t care so we’ll never be heard / listened to.

Doesn’t really count. It’s optional. Just don’t use it and stick to WAs.

When I’m putting furniture together I wing it. Pretty common sense
