I notice a trend in these classic forums over the past month or so.
Many more posters are vocal that some changes are not only coming but are also welcomed.
I am not talking about flying or arenas or adding new professions, positions not even I advocate anymore. The more I came to understand the role of a server with many of the classic traits I loved back then, the less radical changes I personally advocate for.
I am talking about sharding, updated graphics, mail system, tokens, in store purchases and several other things sprinkled throughout the forum.
I think a large part of this acceptance is realizing that at the end of the day, blizzard will have to take everything into consideration (to include profit models, long term sustainability, etc) and release the version of the game that will help them reinvigorate an aging franchise.
Cheers to you, classic forum. Of course I know I will see people call me a troll and argue that they will quit and all that non-sense. However, I see much more healthy debate on important issues today than I did a month ago.
Everyone is allowed to wish. Everyone is allowed to hope. But temper your expectations and prepare for disappointment. At least for a few good years into Classic’s release.
The mail system thing won’t bother me much, if it’s the old one, someone will for sure make an addon to get that in line. Not really sure what tokens are or how they work, I stopped playing in WoD, so I briefly remember something about them but not sure what type of impact they have on the community.
A player can buy a token on the auction house, with gold, to get 30 more days playing time. (On the retail side, we are still waiting for release to see if it will be on classic side too. However, 30 days retail side applies to classic side also)
It is one of the changes I like and that will probably lead to more classic players in the beginning. Since retail and classic subscriptions are one and the same, I bet that many retail players will at least try the classic server out.
Ahhh gotcha. So that wouldn’t be something they would “put” into classic, just something that retail has an option to use to pay with. I haven’t subbed in quite a few years. Whats the cost normally, I might have to see how much gold i have horded away
Ahhh…well I guess they can just have the $15. I think I might have had maybe 12k on all toons last time i played. Prolly more time effective just to choke up the sub fee
The other forum I read is arenas and I ran across a thread where a lagspike asked about the ease of getting to transmog rating in current meta.
I know you don’t mean my thread well with your popcorn posts, but if you play arena and are looking for a free and friendly boost to 2k, I reach out my hand to offer you assistance. I even have a partner who can heal or dps as needed and we are both over 2600.
I love reading all these “QoL Changes” posts. Vanilla wasn’t about QoL. It was about the grind, as Classic should be. Build a bridge and get the F over it.
oof, small world isn’t it? You know I just counter troll your threads for fun. I appreciate the effort you put into your posts. Even if they aren’t intentionally trolling, I love the responses you get.
But yeah, I play alliance, disc priest is my main. Can switch to holy, but I am super bad at shadow. Got 2k once and it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done in this game.
I guess i’m not too concerned with new professions and flying just because if classic does well they would most likey continue with BC. Which i think would be fun to look forward to and that way they wouldn’t need to put it in the vanilla release.
It is entertaining to see the usual troupe of trolls come in to add likes and support for obvious trolls like Whiskee. Cannot wait to see the hot take that Padapwn is typing up.
Yeah, Failanaa, it is totally because we “don’t agree” with his ever so innocent position on issues.
You’re not wrong OP.
Before the forum migration there were far more hard line purists than we see now.
When they announced sharding and shared loot I almost expected a unanimous No from the forums with a few trolls egging it on.
Lo and behold all of a sudden half the forums accepted this as good changes and the slippery slope fallacy was all but forgotten.
You’re right there are quite a few trends here.
I believe if blizz was serious about getting better at communication they would start with the way these forums allow and even encourage trolling.
Yes guys flag another post to waste GM’s time because you don’t agree with the topic.
