A thank you to the Community Council

In Particular, on the Topic of the Faction Divide. I was Scared that the Community Council would be too careful when it comes to tackling tough topics. But I am glad to be proven wrong. So again, Thank you.

I personally believe that the Absence of Cross Faction PvE is one of the biggest problems this game has. And I’m incredibly happy that the Community Council decided to make a statement on the Problem.

I can Agree with an Opt In system that allows for Cross Faction PvE, that is mutually exclusive with War Mode.
The only other thing I would want to add on top of that is Cross Faction Guilds, and Mail Between cross faction guild members.

This is just to avoid innevitable problems with Cross Faction PvE Groups. Such as “I Play with this group all the time Across faction lines, Why can’t I be in a guild with them and share our resources and such?”

I think this is too far. This is no longer opt-in cross faction.

Sounds like it’d be good otherwise!

In What way?
If you only want to play Cross-Faction every now and then, You would be able to Opt-in and out.

But lets say you have IRL Friends that want to make a Guild that utilizes Cross Faction PvE? Should they not be able to?

I think this would be okay with communities, not guilds themselves.

Since a guild exists with war mode on or off, I think this would (further) break world PvP. It would become easier than ever to phase others into specific shards, exploit cross-faction killing achievements, etc. The more coordination possible between factions when war mode is on, the worse imo.

Communities are a little more limiting. For war mode, this makes sense to me instead. Being able to coordinate with friends regardless of faction sounds nice for PvE!

This is Fair.

Perhaps their is a Workaround, Because It seems silly that people wouldn’t be able to form raiding guilds using races from both factions.

Just Because guilds have access to things like the Guild Vault to supply people with Flasks, Pots, Gems, Enchants, you name it.

Can you perhaps think of a Workaround? because I don’t have any Ideas.
Possibly restrict it so that Cross Faction Guilds can only acsess guild functionality when WarMode is turned off?

I’m open minded to comprimise.

Yeah imo the main concern with piling into one faction and a handful of servers on the same datacenter is number of players and therefore higher chance to complete content, also to have a healthier economy, and more. You solve those issues the faction dogpiling issue isn’t so much of an issue anymore.

I went to a higher population and more popular server to increase my chances at seeing and completing content.

My Guild, Orginally started on Alliance, I came over to the Alliance from the Horde to Join them.

This guild was comprised primarily of Friends from my life, So I was willing to join the Alliance in order to play with them.

But, Particularly during BFA, The Alliance was So Barren it took us literally hours to pug content, It was unplayable.
We Transfered to Horde, and our problems were gone. Except now nobody (except me) gets to play the races they enjoy.

Cross Faction PvE would fix this problem for us.
It would let people have an easy time getting into content regardless of something arbitrary like Race Choice of all things.

I’d personally prefer cross-realm guilds before cross-faction guilds. Maybe both would be fine, but on my dead server, having four extra players from the horde who wouldn’t want to join my guild anyways would not help me much.

I like the idea of course, but I think there also needs to be some level of story and lore integrity as well. Would this entire group/race be okay with existing in Stormwind or Orgrimmar? Should any race be playable regardless of affiliation?

But yeah with the prior war ended things could be more relaxed.

If it were up to me, Things would stay pretty strict.
No Horde Races in Stormwind, no Alliance Races in Orgrimmar, Guards attack on Sight.

Faction Specific Quests, Faction Specifc Mounts, Armor, All of that should stay faction specific.
Races should stay faction specific.

But, You should be able to group up with people Regardless of what Race, or Faction you are. Guilds Too. Just Have A toggle on and off like War Mode.
Ez Pz.

This thread you’ve linked to is a prime example of why the Community Council is silly. Nothing they say is particularly worthwhile and ought to be ignored by the developers.

I think it’s good that They’re trying to bring positive change to the game.

What is your problem specifically? Do you think That Opt-In Cross faction shouldn’t be added?

a solid rebuttal. they should probably just listen to you instead, to keep things simple!

Has anyone there posted from a Horde point of view?

I assume not.

I consider myself a Through and Through horde player Brewa.

My Perspective is that This change provides more options to the players, Especially players that feel restricted by their race choice.

The solution is to make allied races what they should have been: additional racial options. Grimtotem for Alliance, Defias for Horde, etc.

Not to remove factions from the game.

I’ll never understand what Blizzard was thinking when they made Dark Irons an Alliance race instead of a Horde option.

So. Every Race should have a Duplicate on the Opposite faction?

This won’t be removing factions from the game. The Linked post in the OP says that an Opt In like War Mode that allows you to Group up with whoever you want.
The Factions, and the restrictions therin would very much still be there.

I Agree wholeheartedly. 100%. Even the quest felt weird.
The Dark Iron Dwarves don’t feel adequately represented on the Council of 3 Hammers! So they’re Rebelling!

Hero. Go Crush this rebellion so they stay Allied with the Alliance.

You cannot have an opt-in like war mode. Are you aware of the MASSIVE amount of stuff in-game gets reset if you faction swap a character? That isn’t something you can turn on and off like a light switch.

You can have cross-faction play for queued content (LFR, LFD, holiday bosses) like they have for Merc Mode now for random BG’s, but you cannot have cross-faction regular play without removing factions from the game entirely.

And anyone who thinks otherwise doesn’t understand how the game is built.

I am Horde.
