A Solution to the rank reset

I agree that there is just never going to be a good time to reset the ranking progression of die-hard classic players in the midst of their grinds, but I have a suggestion. Nobody wants to put in time on something and have their effort wiped out at some random point in thr near future. For some of us, this wipe feels unnecessary and mishandled, perhaps calloused, that Blizzard would even consider this. Queue an Arthas meme.

If in latter expansions you carry through with your highest earned title, afford the same honor to those of us who fell victim to this reset we just really do not want.

Or just don’t wipe people’s progress. Because essentially you’re taking gear away from people who were steadily working their way to where they aspire to be.

We already have our highest titles saved, not to mention the gear that becomes available with those titles. It would be radical to suspect Blizzard would delete those. The likely scenario is that every Era player’s current RP will simply be set to 0.

Yes, that’s what I’m saying. However, you can’t use your highest title in forever classic vanilla. So, let them use it if they were a part of that generation. Permanent titles for those players. They worked for it. GMs and HWLs know that yes you can get to rank 14 but in time you decay back to whatever rank your pvping will support you. Give Permanent titles in vanilla classic.

Ah, ok. Your request is for RP decay to be removed and retroactively credited. The end result is still up in the air, but my guess is that won’t happen. The whole purpose of the advanced notice for the upcoming patch was to inform Era players of an imminent RP wipe. Time will tell.

The only thing that might not upset people about the rank reset would be a removal of the rank decay. If they said there will be no rank decay people would in most cases love the gear.

I mean best case would be to get rid of decay but allow gear to be earned this way post aq40. Because people were happy for aq40 release because so many of them didn’t need r14 any more.

In current vanilla era players starting with r14 will be on par with bwl geared players, so it will be a good baseline for entering naxx/aq40. But in a som2 allowing r14 gear would mean everyone would grind honor. So the ideal case would be no rank decay but allow r12-14 to be bought a bit after aq40 drops.

Just add Rank 15 - Hero or , Hero of the Alliance/Horde

Make it automatic for the next honor update to make them R15 that way nothing really changes. Everyone that becomes ‘Hero’ is removed from the honor grind requirements and thus opens up more people to climb the ladder. Also removes the silliness of seeing a Private roaming around in GM/HW gear xD

People always grinding and no one who reaches GM/HW is going to keep grinding (maybe).

And yes I know, no changes, but it’s a thought.

Hopefully they got feedback from people who actually pvp and not people who only look at rank gear from a pve standpoint

This Thursday we will find out what that new pvp system will be. PTR with lv60 Templates will be available to try it out.

I will definitely be giving my feedback. Good or bad

It’ll be the day before that the forum post explaining the changes goes up.

That’s the day the forum will be on fire.
Haha depending on the reaction the Brawl with the Blues on Friday could be interesting.

Who are the “blues”. Pvp blues?

Yeah, we might get some info tomorrow.

They dont have enough people on their staff to form a bg team. lol

Yea if only they had a council for the community that could help with things like this. Some sort of panel of selected players who advocate and raise questions and concerns on behalf of the player base.

If only such a thing existed. A Council for the Community so to speak. Too bad there isn’t one that does that though.

It was capitalized “Blues” so assuming that means company employees. Blizzard too cheap for a irl outing lol.

But we know where assuming generally gets one.

Here’s a link to that “brawl with the blues” thing:
Brawl With The Blues - July 14 - In Development / Classic Era 1.14.4 PTR - World of Warcraft Forums (blizzard.com)

I’m 99% sure “blues” means some devs: “Please join us on the Classic Era 1.14.4 PTR”

I am not working or doing anything at 2pm that day so I might participate but only if I think the changes are okay to good, as I won’t waste my time if I know I won’t like them.

Yes well, this whole thing has been interesting enough to get me back to the forums and I can for sure understand why the conversations would be interesting to read.

I’ll probably post my feedback with a short comment if I think it’s fine or a long rant if I don’t like it. Actually, if I thought my opinion would make a difference I’d write a shorter comment that might actually be read by the devs anyway. However, the wording on this has never shown the devs to care about feedback on this at all. This change, whatever it is, is simply their perspective on what is “best for the long-term health of the game” and the test is simply to make sure that their changes work.

Although the devs seem like nice enough people when they talk I’ve found that 95% of their changes that have been more than minor have negatively impacted me and those I can relate to on a human level (aka people who think beyond “Oh I’m so excited, I can gear my alt for PVE easier!”), to where so many like-minded people have quit that it makes me sad and not want to come back, but I still hold out hope I guess.

I strongly agree with this too:

We’ll see what happens.

Minor things might be considered but yeah they’ve already decided.
Hope people remember to express disappointment and critique constructively.
We’ll need every voice to even have a chance at getting anything “reconsidered”.

I think the honor system should stay the same but will still give feedback on these changes. Given how they messed up SoM, Wotlk, and even warcraft 3 lol, don’t have high hopes but at least staying positive
