Let mage tower stay dead.
They don’t need new rewards. If they can manage to not botch scaling like they did with everything else Legion, then it won’t matter what gear you have - you’ll still be at least somewhat challenged and can try for the appearances you missed out on.

Just recolor the damn things.
I personally would love more colors of the havoc DH warglaives from the mage tower the 4 current colors are very boring now and hard to mog with aside from the green ones.

Given the nature of this idea which does seem to be one that keeps on coming up I am think new colours of the existing weapon and druid form models would be cool beans.

I think it’s funny that people keep harping on the mage tower stuff but nobody ever asks for the WoD challenge mode weapons, which are in many cases cooler than a lot of the mage tower stuff.

Just make new things; New challenges, New appearances.
Bring the tower back as Timewalking solo thing. But without the artifact appearances, instead, you get something recoloured.
Opposite opinion: WoD weapons were dumb. MoP outfits were cool and recolored. Time for Legion weapons to be recolored. Different colors, less glow. Then maybe people will quit whining.
It was a very fun solo challenge especially for all my alts and specs I never played.
Don’t worry. You’ll be able to do the mage tower as much as you want once Blizzard finally releases Legion Classic.
I’m sure they’ll even provide a $40 Classic->Retail transfer service so you can bring your character’s earned appearances to retail and add them to your retail appearance collection!
If they went to all the trouble of reworking the mage tower for all specs using current standards, it would make zero sense to charge 5 million gold per pull, except as the most gigantic and greediest cash grab imaginable.
A fair number of exceptional players did all specs. Most specs required many pulls.
Oh, so its like Torghast, we “can” solo it… but its more fun to have some friends.
Well protection got the flail while Retribution got a shattered blade that looked …crazy in its own way good or bad. I didn’t look into holy spec much but yeah and the other specs for warriors that weren’t protection got like I think Helya inspired blades
No. It was only a solo challenge. You did it yourself.
Sad thing is even though you mean it as a joke it could actually be a thing.

There have been threads started by people who wanted to play classic, get no longer obtainable items, and transfer those items to their retail characters.

No, sorry, bad idea.
Players should not be required to pay enormous amounts of gold for something that was effectively free in Legion (apart from an entry item which could be earned ingame).
A far better idea is to have a permanent challenge - perhaps in an area of Torghast or somewhere else - that players can enter and take part and it rewards a unique mog skin for their class and spec. They can go back at any time in the future and do it, and if necessary it could be scaled up to provide a degree of challenge.
Thats all that’s needed.
Everyone knows that’s the only reason people want mage tower back so they can be a wearbear.
