A Software Question

My adult children just gave me a Redragon Keyboard and Mouse. The keyboard does not have software for it, but the mouse does. My question is, can I install the software so I can program the buttons or is that software going to get my account banned?

No one here can give you a definitive yes or no, except Blizzard, and they are definitely not going to give an answer.

Generally speaking, keyboard/mouse software is not an issue, in and of itself. However, it is very easy for outside software to cross the one action per keypress (or mouse click) threshold, even unintentionally.

The software itself is generally not an issue, but how it is used.

As long as its one click per action u should be fine.

You can install the software as long as you do not program the buttons for WoW to do things you can’t do normally in-game. Only use in-game macros, not out of game macros.

Additionally, do not use it to spam-click or do anything that you cannot normally do in WoW without the software installed.

I have had a Redragon Keyboard and Mouse, for the last 4 years. I have the software installed (you can find the software on their website, if you need to), and have had no problems. I only program keys/buttons for one push = one action (i.e. Left mouse button = auto attack on/off; or F6 = heal pet, NOT F6 = heal pet + emote bow + auto attack).

Edit for words bc they are hard

The problem with keyboard and mouse software is that people use it to do things that we aren’t able to do in game. Like create macros that go around the one keypress per action rule.

As long as you’re using the mouse to only keybind current spells in game or macros you created in game, you’re fine.

In general it’s fine, as long as you don’t use it to break the 1 hardware action = 1 in-game action on one client rule.

I use a competitor’s package, but I’ve programmed my mouse buttons to do things like fire “Alt+F7”.

Just treat them like additional keybinds and you’ll be fine.
