A simple void elf request

Ahahaha, I wasn’t serious like serious that’s why I put the laughy faces but yeah I hate how different Nightborne and Night Elves are vs Blood elves and Void Elves.

Since it was by the guy who proclaimed that he was “the rightful Prince of Silvermoon” as well as the fact that his father was “Uthar the Lightbringer” (and not Anasterian somehow?) who also supposedly formed the Blood Knights, I wouldn’t dwell too much on why he chose a very Alliance chest-plate.

lol, :joy: doing these comparisons I just realized how noodlely Nightborne males arms are.

Haha, it does capture how shafted Nightborne are and how much Horde side got screwed over in the so called elf swap.

The version Kraes is wearing is a recolor of Lightforge. Here’s the original set plus the other variants.

Original:

Upgraded Tier 0.5:

TBC Recolor (What Kraes wears):

The original Lightforge set is probably more aesthetically appropriate for a Blood Elf in Silvermoon color-wise though.

It’s still got the lion on it, so it’s still kinda off on a belf imo.

Meh, I’m less concerned about the lion than I am about the colors. Blue and Gold are traditionally the Alliance faction color scheme. Red and Gold are typical of the Sin’dorei.

This is a big reason as to why I usually wear red on belves, and wearing blue on them weirds me out.

this isnt necessarily true

Oh for sure, it’s not a hard and fast rule or anything. It’s just usually the way I play it.

Ok look things are like this:

BfA was particularly rough for Horde players -with the villain batting, overall idiotic writting and NPCs calling you a scumbag every 5 secs for an event the devs basically treated as “narrative shock” and nothing else A.K.A. Teldrassil-.

We Belf players have been getting depictions of our NPCs that tend to present them since Cata´s pre-patch times in not a very positive or encouraging for players to feel proud ways:

  1. Aethas went from a potentially decent character in WotLK to a joke over incompetent Bosses at the end of MoP and an overall joke to plain incompetency in Legion.

  2. We got Johnny Awesome who we all know IS the parody of the “Jersey Shore” esque superficial vain elf AND the first iteration of the "Belves have no males and look like females for the rest of Azeroth bad joke

  3. We got not one but TWO additional in-game quest that literally repeated AGAIN the aforementioned joke over other races mistaking male Belf NPCs for females in Cata. As if to reinforce to the playerbase that their joke in bad taste was “so awesome”.

  4. We got a Dalaranian High Elf esque NPC making our Horde arcane sanctums in Talador in WoD… while Liadrin, Astalor and the other Belf NPCs -that included mages, yes- got ignored in favor of this. As if to imply them Belves “weren´t good enough mages”.

  5. We got the literal Sword of the last King of Quel´thalas used as a bargaining chip to enter Dalaran in Legion -now THAT was VERY offensive. To think your rando Kirin Tor mage has Felo´melorn ditchjedf somwhere inj some rando vault IS depressing-

  6. We got the Baine rescue scenario in BfA that frankly Is insulting AF, especially because it justified Hathortel being a “villain” under the argument he was a Sylvanas ally but NOT over the actual Purge scenario (as a matter of fact the Baine scenario dialogue implies Hathorel WAS innocent of the crimes inputed to the Sunreavers because Jaina never contradicted his accusation about him and his friends getting unjustly and unlawfully detained back then).

ALL of the above certainly do not build trust from our part as Belf fans on Blizzard, nor much less on how respectful Blizzard will be to our race visual representation. The customizations were this ray of hope that got extinguished very fast after we realized apart from 3 new haircuts (that everybody got), unlocked DK hair colors (that everybody got), 3 “beard” options, the skin colors every pinkish race got and like 2 new hair colors… we only got truly related to the Belf race ONE model of phoenix esque cultural earrings / necklace combo and nothing else (the rest of the jewerly is VERY generic) and ONE exclusive eye color (golden), cause the other two eye colors (blue/purple) are shared with Velves.

And then we go look at the other core elf race (the Nelves) and we see they got their leaves and their moon themed necklaces and their different eye colors as per the lore and the scars and tattoos and damaged ears and so on -SO much of that REALLY inspired in the lore background of the race- and we wonder why devs thought we would feel happy over ONE stance of jewerly when the lore of our race is BIGGER than “muh jewel incrusted on Lor´s most recent armor model”. The difference in the treatment we got in comparison with what Nelf players got is the same as the difference between the ground and the sky (Nelves didn´t had to cede stuff to the Nightborne, quite the contrary they GOT the previously exclusive Nightborne only skin colors).

Then, when players come here to say they want yet ANOTHER concession made against the Belf visual aesthetic in favor of the Velves, we kinda explode. Cause it´s not merely the hair color stuff, it´s the hair color and sharing the skins and sharing eye colors and being totally neglected in regards to cultural representation of our race and devs making the scarce customization based upon “how pretty and vain the elves look” and NOT over how the race is described in the lore (bitter… Belves are described as “more bitter”, not as gaudy socialites whose males can´t be differentiated from the females). It´s a snowball that became an avalanche after years of jabs made either by plain ignorance from the part of the devs in the best case or in literal bad faith to coddle the bad taste jokes in the worst case.

I was one of the people saying “let them have them if this means Blizz will respect the lore of the Belves”… and then they make Lor´themar simp to Calia in such pathetic way in pre-patch. And then I realized I shouldn´t conform with my favorite race getting dismembered so everybody and their mother can get their own piece of it just because some people haven´t processed Belves became Horde since like a decade ago.

Isolated fighting over the hair colors of a fictional gameplay model seems indeed childish… but when one looks at the whole picture? Not at all. It´s not about mere visual looks, it´s about not letting Blizzard walk over us as if we are second rate customers.

So as you can say, the issue with the hair colors is not by the hair colors per se, is because it´s perceived as yet another jab made from Blizzard against the Belf fans. And we are fed up with being the but of the jokes as far as elves are concerned (Nelves get the victim treatment, but they cvertainly don´t get the joke one).

Turquiose too… it´s the other color in the “Icon of Blood”. Such a dissapointment devs remembered it existed for Lor´s new model but NOT for the heritage armor -that still puts green jewels as if Fel was still the only deffining characteristic of the Belves-

I hated this as well.

It seemed to be simultaneously excusing Jaina’s conduct during the purge, while making any Blood Elf still upset over it look like bad guys who “just won’t let it go”.

They really should have addressed the Blood Elf victims of the purge with a lot more grace, in my opinion at least.

I wonder how Nelf fans would feel if we get an scenario in which they have to defend Sylvanas from Maiev and the writting of it basically whitewashes the Banshee while Maiev gets demoted to “cartoon villain cause reasons”.

Night Elves have an unending victim complex, it’s in the lore and it shows with players, there’s literally tons and tons of threads about it. Lol.

This isn’t exactly the olive branch of the century that you seem to think it is lol

Not all Nelf players are NEFPAS… most are sensible individuals. But the ones that complain endlessly and whose only real valid solution is basically a scenario in which their racial leaders put chains in the whole Horde while only using their pinkies are indeed bothersome victim complex AND superiority complex individuals.

His/Her very first post on this thread related to this issue was not as nuanced as he/she would have liked. Several of us got triggered precisely because of the language used on it. Trying to deflect with “I actually mneant I wanted more Belf proper customization options and not rely only on hair colors” after the atrocious way he/she justified copy-pasting Belf hair colors on Velves certainly can´t be as easily forgotten.

I mean If he/she only wanted to say she rather get more exclusive and lore appropiate customizations, then why mention the natural hair colors for Velves stuff at all?

That’s most of them, very few are cool about stuff and realize that the storylines suck all around thus we get all the threads.
