Wow, what a brilliant idea! Let’s complicate the already smooth process of kicking people from groups in online games. Because what we really need is more rules and less fun, right?
First off, making groups not automatically jump to the front of the line after kicking someone? Genius. Now everyone can enjoy the wait even more. And the vote-to-kick system, which is never abused, should definitely have more hoops to jump through because clearly, players have nothing better to do than to think critically about each kick.
Allowing role switching after a kick? That’ll just make things run so much smoother, especially since no one ever gets confused when roles change mid-game. And let’s not forget the nuanced system for “valid” kicks - because tracking if someone’s been AFK for exactly one minute or if they’ve been silent in chat for a week is totally practical and not at all a hassle.
But the best part? Not giving the deserter debuff for “invalid” kicks. Because nothing screams “justice” like letting someone leave without consequence, only for them to come back and repeat the cycle.
Great thinking! This will surely make gaming communities more friendly and less toxic. Flame on, indeed.
Ideally, all kicks should need to be initiated by the healer, who would also have sole voting privileges on whether the vote passes or not. DPS kicked should also have a three day ban and transfer 10% of their total account gold to the rest of the party, and then the dungeon should auto-complete as if it were timed at a +2 speed.
Pulling out all the buzzwords, because you can’t come up with a response to how my post ever once claimed that the two things I mentioned absolutely never ever happen, eh?
What you’re telling me is that you’ve probably misjudged my character and are talking about me behind my back to people that will later steal your lunch money.
This is why I included chat in the original idea. The theory is that if the person isn’t saying anything, there haven’t been deaths, they are active (meaning both in combat and pressing buttons) these are things to easily programmatically check.
If a vote to kick happens the system could do a quick audit and determine either:
“This person was active and didn’t say anything, the run was going fine, this seems like the person was not a bad actor” and then the system would not award the deserter debuff.
Alternatively the system could see “this person was chatting a lot and not pressing a lot of buttons” and then that healer that was holding your group hostage would be receive the deserter debuff.
Your friend fails to understand this part, that the system would attempt to act as a judge and prevent well-intentioned people from being punished by bullies.
It’s a start. These are things that could be refined over time. Conditionals changed.
They just did a mass 2-week ban for people bricking M+ keys with no intention of finishing the run. This shows me there are both ways for them to see this, and also the intention on Blizzard’s part to deal with bad actors in group content.
