Why Boston over San Antonio?

Lebron also loves Pop. He considers him the greatest to ever do it. I remember we had a 10 minute argument going back and forth about Pop vs. Phil Jackson (I'm on the Jackson side.) The one advantage Boston has, other than mending things with Cryrie (which Lebron wants to do,) is that Lebron views Brad as a younger Pop. You want to go with the younger guy, because he'll be slightly more willing to listen. Pop is mostly set in his ways, and while people believe Lebron will be okay with being coached (and he will) - Lebron wants some say. Brad is still learning, and who better to learn from than the GOAT?

I'm done discussing sports/Lebron free agency with people who just want to argue, because of my legendary status in game.

The GOAT himself.

The only thing you have said that has logic and I agree with

He is the GOAT. Anyone that says otherwise needs to bring to me a reason and i'll explain why you're wrong. i love debating this topic :)

Me and you never had this argument. But i'd love to have it. I'm on the pop side. PJ had Jordan/scottie for 6 and kobe/shaq for 3 then kobe/pau for 2. The first 9 of those a first year coach could have got. I will say, pop did have duncan, but he didnt have 2 of the best NBA players of all time on each championship team. You could argue either way. But with the exception of rings, 9 of which we're like steve kerr's 3 with the warriors, he doesn't own any statistical advantages over pop
Pop also had David Robinson, who many people seem to leave out of the argument. Both coaches were blessed to have great players - but what many people seem to forget is, Michael Jordan failed to even make the playoffs before Phil Jackson arrived. There's this myth that follows Jordan around where he was this dominant postseason player long before Phil. That's not the case. If I recall, and I could be wrong - Michael Jordan had three head coaches before Phil Jackson.

Neither could do much of anything with him.

Phil Jackson is, hands down, the most brilliant mind, when it comes to coaching, I have ever seen. The questionable motivational tactics, some controversial. Most coaches would be fired for some of the things Phil said/did to motivate his players. The fact that a head coach could even coach (who some consider the GOAT), and still manage to be the man in charge. Let's not pretend Michael Jordan is Tim Duncan, when it comes to ego. Timmaaayyyy had his moments, but for the most part, he was an easily coached player. You need a special kind of guy to coach Jordan/Kobe/Shaq, and to keep them somewhat in check.

One of my favorite Phil moments, is the championship series vs. Boston. My nephew is a huge Boston fan, and when Boston went up 3-2, my nephew had this joy in his eyes. They showed Phil getting off the bus right before game 6, and he said to the reporters ''everything is going as planned.'' Did anyone doubt the Lakers were about to win two straight games? I didn't.

My nephew has never disagreed with my claims of Phil being the GOAT since.

Pop is a great coach, and I wouldn't really argue (much) with anyone who makes a case for him being the greatest... but Phil Jackson had that special something. I don't care about rings, honestly. He just had it. No one was bigger than Phil. Phil is a lot like me - If somebody thinks they're getting an advantage, it's only because we want them to think it. We're master manipulators, always one step ahead.
you make some great points there. I can't disagree with you on most of them. I put pop and PJ at 1 & 2. pick the order. They both had different players with different personas and egos. They both had different tactics that works. The only thing that could put PJ over the top is championships. but he did have better players on all those championship teams. so there's that to consider.
You guys and you soccer stuff jeez! I cannot wait for Football season.
