How very interesting and peculiar! I shall have to make a voice log reminding me to further investigate this organization pertaining to Gnome-Kind.

Last time, on Gnomeregan Far Fielder…

The Far Fielders had completed their migration and setup in a formerly unoccupied warehouse in Boralus, where they were preparing to test the first of many new teleporters and remote beacons. While the initial test was promising, the introduction of a signal flare to the teleporter pad proved disastrous, and caused the pad to swap polarity. Instead of teleporting what was on the pad, everyone and everything in the near vicinity of both the transmit and receiving pads was teleported instead.

The Far Fielders arrived high in the mountains of southern Drustvar, and almost immediately came under enemy sniper fire. Quick on their feet and swift in their planning, they employed the use of additional signal flares to distract the sniper long enough to surround the unknown enemy and charge the overlook. While the feint was successful, they were met on the ridge by more than they bargained for: a detachment of Horde troops guarding a fledgling outpost and, apparently, trying to lure the unwary in on what should have been a single haphazard sniper.

Through the quick and bloody battle that followed, the Far Fielders were able to use their position to their advantage and surprise the Horde detachment. After ending the life of the enemy commander and his subordinates, the Far Fielders took a moment to heal and rest before dismantling the Horde outpost. Within, they discovered log books containing Alliance troop movements, convoy schedules, and recon information, along with an abundance of provisions and supplies- all of which were promptly put to the torch. To one side of the encampment, up on a snowbank and against some trees, they discovered the three bare corpses of a Gnomish expeditionary force who had clearly been captured, interrogated, and then summarily executed. On the commander, they found one half of an ominous correspondence:

Cmdr. Ulrik-

I have received your package- you’ve done well, especially with leaving no witnesses. I will forward the information on to one of the Reliquary commanders for the region, Lieutenant Borath. I’d say it’s a pretty long shot that this ‘Mechagon’ actually exists, but with the war on, we can’t take the chance that the Alliance could discover it and tip the balance of power. I agree that the Reliquary is the best suited to look into this affair. Take extra measures to camouflage your position, and do not provoke an Alliance response. Our foothold on this region is still tenuous at best.

Also, you’re welcome for the imported firewater. I thought it would help with the low temperatures.

For the Horde,

Cpt. Isari

Now, the Far Fielders begin to plan their next move: locating the base where the captain resides, and recapturing the package he currently holds in his possession. If the Far Fielders can also obtain the remaining correspondence in the process, it could surely pull back the shadows clouding this mystery…

Last time, on Gnomeregan Far Fielder…

After nearly a week of extensive scouting and reconnaissance, the Far Fielders had finally discovered the location of the hidden Horde base within Drustvar, and identified the captain meant to receive the cryptic package. Although they couldn’t explicitly confirm the package’s location, the Far Fielders decided to commit to at least capturing the Horde captain, and, if present, securing the package as well. From their basecamp in a warehouse in Boralus, the Far Fielders discussed the initial recon report and created a tactical overview and timetable for the operation. With all preparations in order, the Far Fielders redeployed to Drustvar.

Lead elements of the Far Fielders arrived at the Horde base ahead of the main squad in order to both scout the present troop strength as well as place several remote-detonated high-yield explosive bombs at key locations around the outpost. While the veteran troop strength of the Horde outpost was nearly 3-to-1 against the Far Fielders, the scouts were also able to locate a fuel and ammunition stockpile as a means to further even the odds for when the main force arrived on site. With the yields placed, the scouts took up positions both at a high elevation to provide fire support, as well as nearby the Horde captain in order to enact the capture operation as soon as the chaos began.

The main force arrived at the outskirts of the Horde base and launched a surprise attack on a Horde patrol that had been reconnoitered earlier. The two Orc patrol was quickly overwhelmed, and attempted to launch a signal flare to warn the main base. Fortunately, some quick thinking on the part of the Far Fielders sent the flare sideways instead of straight up. Using the mountain snow, the flare was quickly smothered from sight in the night, and it seemed the Horde base was still unaware of the imminent threat. Advancing up the beaten path and concealing themselves temporarily among the treeline, they signaled the scouts to begin the operation.

All at once, hell arrived on Azeroth. The bombs detonated to spectacular effect, sending debris, people, and munitions rocketing into the sky, trailed by the dying embers of gunpowder. The captain’s two elite guards were killed instantly in the blast, having never even seen the faces of their attackers. In the ensuing chaos, the specialist scout in the rear of the base leapt into action, using a garrote wire to silence the captain, bring him down, and knock him out. As soon as the job was done, the scout began painstakingly hauling the body out through the rear exit. While vulnerable, the chaos that had erupted was the perfect cover for not being observed.

While the captain was subdued and slowly hauled off, the main force of the Far Fielders engaged the Horde garrison at the base simultaneously. The Horde lieutenant at the forefront called for one of his troops to run back to advise the captain- an act that would have meant disaster for the rear scout- but some quick thinking and Gnomish shock-tech engineering put that Orc warrior face-first into the snow. With the odds now 2-to-1 against the Far Fielders, the lieutenant gave a battlecry and warning, finally alerting the entire base to the enemy presence. Horde troops began to rally and reinforce their front line, while the Far Fielders struggled to pacify the forward garrison.

The tables turned when the scout opened fire from the elevated ridgeline on the reinforcements sprinting towards the front. Launching a grenade-tipped arrow, the impact was immediate and deadly. The Orc that was unlucky enough to get caught inside the blast was torn to shreds by the shrapnel instantly, while the other troops were injured. Still, the reinforcements advanced toward the front with all possible haste. Radioing ahead, the ridgeline scout advised the frontline that enemy reinforcements were imminent.

Thinking quickly, the frontline Gnomes put the remaining Horde troops on the defensive long enough to give sufficient time for a specialist to throw down a line of electromines in the path of the reinforcements soon to come. Sure enough, the Horde reinforcements blundered right into the mines as soon as they came down the slope, giving the frontline Far Fielders the break they needed. One of the Gnomes used his rocket boots to leap into the air and perform a trademark death-from-above, landing on the head of a prone Orc, while another used her greatsword blade to impale and promptly gut another. The final Orc lieutenant was valiantly kept at bay by the Far Fielder commander playing defensively, although despite his best attempts, was being slowly driven back. The fight finally came to an end when the ridgeline scout sent an arrow at the lieutenant’s lower spine, dropping him down to his knees and bringing his neck within reach of the greatsword blade that would end his life.

The din of the battle finally died, and the Far Fielders rapidly withdrew from the field after confirming the rear scout’s successful disengagement. Regrouping at Corlain with their captured spoils, the Far Fielders assessed the unconscious captain’s belongings and discovered both the package they’d been seeking as well as the other half of the correspondence that had brought them here in the first place:

Cpt. Isari-

As ordered, we have arrived in southern Drustvar and have set up a small outpost outside of the detection range of the nearby Alliance cities up in the mountains. However, while we were establishing the encampment, a Gnome scouting party blundered into our operation and were successfully captured. Although 4 of the 5 captives perished during the interrogation (the last has been executed as per the no-witnesses order), we were able to determine they’re apparently searching for an ancient city known as Mechagon. It would seem the Gnomes had made several preliminary investigations and discovered a cache in the northwestern region. I feel this should be brought to the Reliquary’s attention, as they have the expertise best suited to proceed.

I have attached the cache the Gnomes had in their possession. Please advise.

For the Horde,

Cmdr. Ulrik

The package itself contained a heavily annotated map with several key locations circled, along with a gyroscopic compass that didn’t point north, a mechanical arm of unknown make that the compass seemed to point toward, and an encrypted journal no doubt kept by one of the members of the deceased Gnome expeditionary force. The Far Fielders have their work cut out for them as they begin the preliminary operation of scouting the mapped locations, interrogating the Horde captain, and decrypting the encoded journal…

Question: Do you accept characters that aren’t exactly lawful good?

We do indeed accept characters who are not exactly the most ethical. If that’s your deal, you’ll want to contact Celby directly and inquire further. They’re the go to for our shady business.

As Phelburt said: yes, we totally accept characters that are evil-aligned. That said, chaotic evil characters would have a very hard time (as this is a lawful organization), but lawful evil characters will fit right in without issue. We have a bit of an internal dynamic set up to make this possible and fit within the scope of the organization.

Celby is going to be interrogating a Horde captain soon, for example, and they certainly won’t be playing Hearthstone to determine his fate. Ahem.

Lawful evil is the alignment that rocks.

Anyway, just drop me a note in-game or on Discord if you have any questions about it!

Last time, on Gnomeregan Far Fielder…

After discovering a map from a previous expedition, Zulion and Lugston take the initiative and investigate one of the more prominent areas denoted. This is the first time either has interacted with the other one-on-one and a bond was quickly formed as they traveled.

They worked their way to one of two entrances of a junkyard. They were confronted by a pitted, short-circuiting mechanical wolf. It appeared as though it was damaged by someone prior. It was disabled by Lugston through means of an electrical surge dart. Afterwards, the head was removed and Samantha held on to it in the hopes of examining the memory core later.

The pair ascended a ridge-line on the western end of the junkyard. Nestled behind tree-tops and veiling a small footpath into the junkyard, the camp they discovered was an easily defend-able choke-hold position. Samantha stayed back as Lugston set up a telemetry beacon and returned to inform the others of what they had found. Sam, during this time, set up traps and destroyed their tracks leading up to the ridge. It’s now unsafe to ascend the ridge to anyone who does not know the way - thus, it has been claimed by the Far Fielders!

If you want a constructive and heavily inclusive/receptive group, this is the one to approach for broader story lines and group oriented shenanigans. It’s a blast!

Eddy slipped down the hill and back into the rock garden, completely camouflaged from the battle above. Snaggle, his white tiger companion, curled up at his feet and slipped into a cat nap, aware and ready for approaching enemies. None would come, though. Eddy was now far away from that sort of mess.

The explosions had been massive. An ammo dump. Probably munitions Flashbang Exports had supplied. A good thing. More weapons, more profits. But that wasn’t why he was here. Boss Mahoney had concerns about an increased Gnome presence and sent Eddy to investigate. She had good reason. The Gnomes WERE up to something, and it was big.

He lifted his goblin radio to his mouth and keyed the mic. "Eddy, he-yahs. You were right, Boss. Dey ARE up ta somethin and it ain’t good, I can tell ya dat. Took out an in-ti-yah Horde base wits tech the likes I ain’t evah seen. "

He released the key and glanced around. Nothing near. Time to wrap up and get back to the office. “I’m skedaddlin, Boss. Not sure we’s ready for an outfit like dis. Eddy P, out!”

((Hope you guys don’t mind us hopping in here. Your RP is intriguing! And, of course, anytime Gnomes get marching, us Goblins pay attention. Cheers))

(( That was a fun read! We’re currently looking for our oh-so lovely rivals. But, genuinely, also just friends out of the field. It’s all for fun and creating exciting events. So inclusion with the community is paramount - especially the Horde. While we’ve a set story-line and inclusion of characters, we’re also able to chat and actively discuss ways of bridging the gap!

So, please, feel free to reach out to us. Our officers are: Lugston and Celby in-game. And the Guild Master is Phelburt. I’m positive (what, with work and all) we all can be a bit busy sometimes. But we’re active and seeking more fun opportunities. ))

My discord is Phelburt#0780. We would love some cross faction RP to get going.))

Last time, on Gnomeregan Far Fielder…

The Far Fielders had been gathering research and information from the scrapyard in Tiragarde for the last week. Although it was slow going, they’d manage to discern a few more clues and had also decoded the old journal that was left behind by one of the deceased preceding Gnome explorers. This, fortunately, shed some more light on the mystery as a whole. Planning ahead for the worst, the Far Fielders deployed a minefield around the ridge of the scrapyard and added forward Alarm-O-Bots as an early-warning detection net. Although the Far Fielders had managed to recover the package earlier, it was likely a preliminary report had been sent and that meant the Reliquary would show their face sooner or later.

That possibility became a reality last night when one of the forward Alarm-O-Bots sounded an intruder alert and then promptly went silent. The Reliquary scouts that had arrived promptly blundered into the minefield, and two were killed outright before the others withdrew temporarily. The Far Fielders barely got more than a few minutes of time to plan their strategy before the main detachment- eleven additional troopers and two sappers- arrived. The entire situation quickly turned to complete chaos.

While the Reliquary sappers frantically worked at clearing the minefield, the Far Fielders began using guerrilla attacks to hinder their efforts and try to draw the Reliquary troopers either into the minefield along the ridge, or down into the scrapyard proper where unaligned mechanical nightmares would attack the Reliquary just as assuredly as they’d attack the Far Fielders. The Blood Elf commander, however, was able to reign in his troops before they’d made a disastrous mistake, and instead focused their efforts on clearing the minefield up along the ridge with a growing urgency. Although they had originally no doubt meant to raid the scrapyard, the priority had clearly shifted- even at the cost of some of their own lives.

During the skirmishing, the Far Fielders had spotted, at precisely twenty-one-hundred-hours, an object emerging from behind the mountain range to the immediate south. As the minutes ticked by, the lone scout who had range on the object finally reported in a confirmation: a Horde gunship with artillery pieces and range on the scrapyard was obviously waiting for a signal from the ground troops.

Thinking quickly in the growing chaos, two of the Far Fielders volunteered for what was likely a suicide mission. The newest Far Fielder and teleportation specialist mage was able to teleport them onto the top deck of the gunship, and as soon as they arrived, all hell broke loose. Suddenly in a fight for their lives, the two Far Fielders fought tooth and nail to make their way below deck into the direction of the engine room. Facing countless soldiers, they lobbed one of their last two bombs behind themselves to give each other a few more seconds as they barrelled forward without regard for their own wellbeing.

Down below, the Horde troopers had managed to finally breach the minefield. Meeting them on the other side was a single Gnome warrior and a tandel of Alarm-O-Bots that had been refitted with chainsaws. Screaming bloody murder and incoherent frenzied taunts (ex., “Blood for the blood god!”), the fighting was brutal and vicious. Although the detachment of soldiers met their end there, the Gnome warrior and murderbots fell as well.

The remaining Far Fielders on the ground further back had managed to skirt around the Reliquary troops, and with a well-placed arrow, assassinated the enemy commander finally. His death, however, brought about the wrath of the last of the Reliquary troops, and only with some quick tag-teaming were they able to barely stem the tide. The cost was high, though: one of the rear scouts had nearby been cut clear across the middle by an Orc axe, and the other hadn’t been able to stop one of the troopers from frantically going through their dead commander’s belongings. Apparently knowing that his death was near, the trooper produced a flare gun, aimed high, and loosed an arcing red flare that shot into the sky.

The gunship was a flurry of activity even more than before, as the artillery pieces were recalibrated and homed at the ground from where the flare had come from. Just as the cannons began to thunder, the gunship shook violently and listed heavily to one side. The Far Fielders below, against all odds, had managed to breach the engine room and detonate the fuel supply. The artillery shots went wide, striking the scrapyard itself and the mountain. Resigned to their fate with little hope of reaching their teleport entry point, the Far Fielders below could at least rest knowing that their comrades on the ground wouldn’t fall victim to the deadly barrage.

The Far Fielder mage on the ground, however, wasn’t content to leave things be. Throwing personal safety to the wind and using the full extent of her mana, she strained to tear open a portal below the listing gunship in an effort to blindly retrieve her comrades. The effort was, perhaps, a little too successful: not only did she manage to retrieve their unconscious bodies, but she also retrieved a large chunk of the gunship bulkhead, with promptly landed on her now-somewhat-more-knocked-out companions.

When the smoke cleared, nearly all of the Far Fielders were bloodied or heavily wounded. One was in critical condition, and only two of them had managed to make it out of the encounter in somewhat decent shape. As they began to ferry their wounded comrades back to the Boralus medical facility, Boralus gryphon rider interceptors- drawn by the artillery display earlier- streaked across the sky in the direction of the limping gunship to finish it off. Although the operation was a rough success, it would no doubt be some time before the Far Fielders would see this kind of action again.

The pyrrhic victory a week prior left the Far Fielders scattered, at a loss, and dismayed in plenty of ways; foundations of friendships shaken by choices, and new bonds forged through the strife. Though progression could not be halted - thus the Far Fielders sought to reclaim what had been otherwise left in ruin.

Assessing the detailed damages of what transpired to the campsite in Tiragarde was the first priority, leading the ascent up the pock-marked landscape that was once a field set for mines. Much had been swept by the incursion prior but a few deadly remnants were encountered along the way. Mortar rounds, cased in crude steel, painted with wicked laughing skulls were found lodged in the uprooted soil. Perhaps sliding from the deck, casting to the earth as the bombardment of the tailing airship fell from the sky, leaving these deadly reminders as an issue.

Through a variety of discussed means the Far Fielders had chose to recover one to salvage and the others were to be blown sky high from afar. These eruptions causing a magnitude of seismic activity rumbling below the ridge. But it goes unnoticed through the turmoil that became acquiring a shell of a mortar. While the Far Fielders were aided by a Kirin Tor Magus, locating and weaving a portal to transport the leftover munition brought more troubles, as, descending to the junkyard where it had landed, a trap had been set in wait. The previous owners, whomever they were, were efficient. A Shock Turret, quick to rise, had pulsated out a charge that had narrowly been avoided by a few of the Far Fielders. The mortar, thankfully, had been transported.
In these final moments, ascending the ridge and reaching the campsite, a rumbling quake bursted through as the earth pitted in on itself. A chasm opening below the scattered campsite, swallowing it whole, as the ascended flames of Azerite crested through the cracks. The emergence of a pillar of this precious resource swept skyward, jutting from the earth, and it’s trailed by a towering behemoth of an Azerite Elemental. Infused by the crag beneath, this stalwart defender encroached on the Far Fielders as they were scattered.

The fight pushed on - narrowly avoiding being crushed by the towering goliath, the Far Fielders were left at a loss to how to handle this. The morta shell leftover was the first suggestion given by one, but haste was given through the act of a grenade being thrown into the combustable being. The eruption that followed floored the group, leaving a crater in the wake and access to a pivotal amount of Azerite now cresting from the earth.

While the campsite was lost and the inherent point of even trailing back to assess damages was pointless, a new and brighter future is presented through this turn of events. Financial, or otherwise…
