The Alliance Medical Association will be returning to Ironforge’s Hall of Explorers for recurring, twice-monthly meetings every other Wednesday — starting this Wednesday, June 24th, 6:00 pm Server/Pacific!
What is the Alliance Medical Association?
The perfect opportunity for some midweek roleplay, the Alliance Medical Association (AMA) is a medical-themed lecture series, each installment of which usually lasts around 2 hours total. Events generally consist of a lecture (given by a community volunteer) on a topic of health, wellness, or safety followed by a question and answer portion or hands-on engagement session where audience participation is encouraged (though never required.) After the lecture, some of us (who are still awake!) head to the bars of Ironforge for a little less-than-intellectual rp. Attendees are invited to participate in the afterparty. The pub crawl is not structured — just some free-form fun with your fellows.
AMA strives to serve three main purposes:
1.) The lecture series presents a chance for community members to share their knowledge and passions with strangers.
2.) It should also be an opportunity for both shy and outgoing roleplayers to get a little guaranteed rp in by participating, reading along, and having fun in raid chat/discord. Audience participation during events is strongly encouraged, but never mandatory. I strive to facilitate moments where every character has a chance to learn and/or be an expert and teach others.
3.) Finally, presentations exist to open up new concepts to players and characters in order to potentially inspire new plots and create discussion during and after the event. Please feel free to reach out to presenters and your fellow attendees after events conclude!
AMA is beginner-friendly and welcoming to a wide variety of character concepts: healers and non-healers, the magical and mundane, knowledge-seekers and novices are all encouraged to attend. No prior knowledge IC or OOC is required to enjoy the lectures, which draw on lore, fact, and a smidge of unreliable narration.

i dont really rp at all but i like how much dedication ya have to this and making the most of the game hope it all goes well and you have alot of people attend, have fun with it all!

You’re too kind! It’s been a while since I’ve been able to do recurring events, but I’m very excited to get AMA up and running again tomorrow! 
Tonight’s the night! 6:00 pm server/Pacific (7pm Mountain, 8pm Central, 9pm Eastern) in Ironforge’s Hall of Explorers!
The topic of the night is ‘An Introduction to Runic Healing.’ In addition to the lecture, expect opportunities for attendee participation, show-and-tell, and a little debate on the morality of certain types of runic magic.
I always had so much fun at these and I’m so glad they’re back! come stop by, even for a few!

The next AMA meeting will be one week from today! Catch us in Ironforge’s Hall of Explorers on July 8 at 6:00 pm Server/Pacific for a session on healing the undead. Expect a lecture peppered with debate about the efficacy of magical schools (among other things!) and opportunities for hands-on practice. As always, all are welcome and encouraged to attend!

Hey, thanks for asking! Right now we’ve only got a few lectures queued, because after this coming Wednesday I’m going to be seeking guest lecturers! Once I have a list of interested parties I’ll have a better idea of the long-term schedule. For now:
July 8: Healing the Undead (presented by me)
July 22: Amputation and Loss of Limb (presented by me, possibly with a co-host)
August 5: Guest Lecture/TBD
August 19: Guest Lecture/TBD
If no guests are ready to present by Aug 5th, I’ll probably host a lecture on non-magical emergency medicine.
Ouuu. I would definitely be interested at some point if you ever need guests to come speak! My character is always looking for ways to make medical connections!

@Skrimps—how long do you guys typically run for these events? I’d love to bring one of my alts along as I’m working on his RP story a bit (I’m fairly new to this). His name is Docsenior and he’s your friendly street dentist! He’s based on a video you can find online. Indian Street Dentist
Very cool character idea! Actually, I heard another dentist character may be interested in attending in the future. Perhaps your characters could get to know each other!
The events usually run 1.5 to 2 hours, so expect them to end around 8pm Server/Pacific. Usually people show up late, so don’t be worried about not making it on time. And, if you miss the lecture but want to spend some time with other medically-minded characters, afterwards we all head to Bruuk’s tavern! It’s in the Military Ward, right above the ‘R’ in WARD if you look at the Ironforge map.
