A returning players awful experience (account locked)

Just because I haven’t seen it notated anywhere (and if I missed it, I do apologize)? I know you said you’ve played off and on since Vanilla, but nothing more beyond that of your history. If you have ever been hit with social sanctions before (language, poor naming choices, etc.) Those do stack and the black mark doesn’t ever degrade. So something you may have said back in 2017, that mark would still be there. If you had perhaps just gotten a period of being silenced - that would have been a one-time “warning,” though technically all of the rules and such in the TOS and whatnot are also considered the warning. Sometimes that first offense isn’t quite up to snuff for a full-on suspension, but a silence is only a one-time thing.

It’s why we always tell people to appeal and keep appealing until a player is warned that no more appeals will be accepted, lest they face further account sanction. If they were mistakenly sanctioned, even if the appeals were still ongoing when the suspension was over? They can wipe that black mark away from their account so it won’t impact them again down the line in case they really do break the rules and are suspended again.

Social sanctions especially tend to double with each infraction.

No, I’m talking about full Battle.net closure. In-game. Someone from Moon Guard, ironically enough, was the last one I saw. And I’ve seen a couple of those full account closures from just social sanctions. Suspensions were well over a month at that point so Blizzard made the decision to permanently ban them.

As to your posts, Jelincic - some have already been removed entirely it looks like, others not hidden anymore. The thread was at 99 a few minutes ago and the count is down now even with a few posts I hadn’t seen as yet. So you can take a look at what posts had been removed and make the deductions for yourself or whatever a mod may have notated.

Ok, there is a bit to unpack here.

First off - Jelincic , please stop. Just stop. Not helpful.

Ok, now to this issue.

It is VERY important to read a TOS, that’s what you are agreeing to. Now, can we make you do it? No, no we can’t. Is it in your best interest to read a contract before signing it - well, that’s what I was always taught, your mileage may vary.

This thread has gone on for over 100 posts - and it’s not the problem.

Yes, you COULD easily have an issue if you break the rules of the social contract - but this doesn’t have anything to do with that.

This was a payment issue. You keep putting in tickets under appeals. You just aren’t likely to get a good answer in that category with this issue.

You need to be submitting this under purchase.

Providing I’ve found the correct Battlenet account - which, btw you setup under a totally bogus name (also very much against the rules), it’s not suspended, it’s locked - for a payment issue.

You need to be submitting a ticket under purchase - and get the name on the account and the payment issues sorted.

I’m going to unlock this now, but please - try to keep things civil in the thread.

Thank you.

Done! To be fair, all I received in ticket to my initial inquiry about suspension was this.

"Greetings,

This action has been taken in accordance with our Terms of Use and our In-game Policies which all players acknowledge and agree to prior to playing. These policies and conditions allow us to maintain a fun and safe game environment for all of our players.

Our Battle.net Terms of Use can be found at

Regards,
Game Master Team
Blizzard Entertainment"

and then I followed up with
“I am still not sure why the account is locked? And for how long? Is it the character name? “trainme”? Its referring to be tunneled in arenas. Other then that I can’t think of anything. Am I going to get the account back? Do I need to do something specific to get it back?”

And didn’t receive anything after that.

I was also extremely frustrated at that point, as I had just dumped my whole weekend into “preparing to play”, and had only just got everything sorted out, and then was suspended, and not sure why, and my time to play over weekend was slipping away.
But once I thought I figured out the reason (swearing), I just cancelled the ticket. Looks like I was wrong about that reason.

Happy to resolve whatever issue is, and will send in another ticket.

You rock, thank you so much!

OP, you can submit a Purchase Failure ticket here: https://us.battle.net/support/en/help/contact/167/ticket

Good luck getting everything all sorted out. ^^

Also, just as preemptive warning? You may get a TEMPLATED response with some general suggestions to help negate the need for a ticket. This is normal. Just hit the button to the tune of “I still need help,” and it’ll kick it back into the queue for a GM to look into it directly. And too, please don’t get disheartened by a ticket timer. That’s not the timer for YOUR ticket specifically, only an estimation based on the oldest ticket in the system.

Billing and account issues have their own higher priority queue, and tend to be addressed quicker than appeals and general game issues.

sent it in. I also did check all payments, and they are still showing in statement, and said complete in blizzard account. (I checked yesterday), and I actually tried to re-purchase everything on account yesterday, incase it was a payment issue, and it wouldn’t let me. I really didn’t think payment issue was the problem. I also did just end up re-purchasing everything on a second account anways, but character boosts are still pending I guess… (I bought 3, with different payment methods, to try and get one to work)… As you can see, I am less worried about the money, and more worried about trying to get in and play while I have time to.

You are going to need to fix names on accounts too. We are required to use our legal name on our Battlenet account. Not having your real name on it can cause all sorts of red flags in the system when it does some comparisons.

I see Orylia mentioned it. Once you get things unlocked, I suggest you try getting that fixed. Orylia can guide you through that process I am sure. It may be a bit tricky.

Just clicked the link. Looks impossible.
Maybe I can transfer characters to this account, that I bought another game license on for EU yesterday (Didn’t know I could do that at first)

You can only transfer characters to accounts within the same Region and that are in the same legal name. If the name does not match you can’t transfer.

Orlyia coming in with the facts. Gonna say there was an awful lot to gloss through in six hours worth of posts.

I do wish to add a few things. First the Social Contract isn’t exactly new. In fact it’s the same ToS that has always existed in a more easier-to-digest format instead of you delving through pages of legal talk that’s a bit harder for the layman to understand. Being a jerk to others in 2008 had as much consequence as being a jerk to others in 2024.

There’s absolutely no reason to lash out swearing at folks, especially strangers. Friends is a different matter, just like the kid from A Christmas Story sometimes you refer to your friends with curse words.

Now there is a filter to block out swearing but if a player has to do that and you’re still feeling a need to fill their chat box with various symbols and characters, that doesn’t resolve the problem. The existence of a filter is not an excuse and certainly a pain if multiple players feel the need to do so.

This is my own experience but I found PvP, especially focusing heavily on PvP tends to bring the worst out of me so I try to avoid it as a matter of course. I will say I am not a perfect saint when it comes to swearing but I do try to avoid it. Especially now when I usually feel too ill and tired to really get too mad at anything except health care.

Glancing through the thread again (it’s almost 100 pages so you must forgive me if I missed it somewhere in there) it doesn’t show you tried an appeal. You can attempt that to try to lift the suspension to your account. Outside of that you’ll have to poke Billing about the services you purchased as others have mentioned to fix up your info.

Anyway, best of luck on your endeavors. Sure once you get the assistance you’re looking for this will all be ironed out.

That won’t work till this gets unlocked.

You could have put those licenses on your main Battlenet, a Battlenet can hold up to eight WoW licenses - but I’m seeing some issues on that one payment wise as well. Seems something is going on with Paypal payments.

Now it’s setup this way - you won’t be able to move the license, but if you wished, you could move the characters once things are sorted - including the name on the locked account.

I dont care if I can’t move license. Just chalk it up to misunderstanding, and lose a few$ (actually made that account to try plunderstorm on EU servers a couple weeks ago… because game was laggy, and was curious how regions worked, couldn’t change, so made a new EU account, only realized later I could add a EU license to first account).

I am just gonna assume at this point that I am atleast 2-3 days from being able to play… sounds like a mess. I will buy 3 more game licenses if I have to… I really just don’t want to have to gear and setups macros and keybinds again… although with character transfer, I guess I can’t avoid that…

Or keep current locked account, if I can just do a name change. Don’t really care… whatever is quickest

It’s not really a wise idea to come here, using the same language that you’ve already gotten dinged on.

For the game itself, it is rated for the ESRB. People are warned about the game content itself with the T for Teen rating. Blizzard has to abide by those rules.

Players have a different set of rules that they all WILLINGLY AGREE to abide by. But then for some reason get really bent out of shape when they realize they’re going to be held accountable for their actions.

And as for the OP - they weren’t even suspended, let alone for language. So it’s a moot point for that particular caveat.

Yeah was talking about that part of his post.

There’s no such thing as a “g rated swear”. Profanity is, by its very nature, not for a general audience which includes children.

Beyond that, your personal opinion on what should/should not be allowed in this game is irrelevant. Same with mine, anyone else in this thread, even Vrakthris or Orlyia’s personal opinion. The ONLY opinion that matters is Blizzard’s. They make the rules, and they have said no to ALL of it.

If you don’t like it, then you don’t have to play this game. And if you continue using profanity in game, then one way or another, you won’t be playing the game anymore.

This part of the post is irrelevant to the topic’s discussion, so please don’t dredge it up to continue the arguing.

Having said that, it has been explained ad nauseum that masked profanity is not allowed either. If it’s not allowed, whether you like it or not, then repeating it and quoting it is not allowed either.

It still stands that you may want to remove the words you’ve already been sanctioned for once already from your post. It can absolutely reported as it is against the CoC. Getting suspended once for it doesn’t mean you can’t get hit again for the same exact thing - just here on the forums.

And there isn’t any such thing as “g-rated swear.” It’s vulgar language, period.

Why should they be forced to read your filth? See what I did there?

AGAIN, the inappropriate language is NOT the topic of this thread. You are not wrong, as other players shouldn’t have to see it. But please stay on the current topic, and do not dredge up the incorrect arguments from before.

I will say, I am absolutely flabbergasted by the posts of mine being removed here, and the reasons cited. Jaw dropped, shocked. But I guess no reason harping on it.
