A Returning Itch

Title. I haven’t played Hunter since Cata and I’ve been pretty much jumping Classes ever since then. The appeal of it just wasn’t… there in the past. But? Now it’s starting to bubble back up, I used to play BM a Ton and MM on the side. Should I give in and go back to my roots? How are you guys liking Hunter, all the Specs not just the two I mentioned.

Survival is fantastic! And I also really enjoy LW MM.

If you’ve play BM before, you’ll find that hasn’t changed enough to be a challenge now. SV is our most fun to play Spec, usually if one says different they are lying or just haven’t played it. MM is fine numbers wise, but it’s a love it or leave it Spec. LW is a choice between damage and utility. HTH

Fun is subjective, seems pretty ignorant to say everyone will find survival the most fun

I recommend both BM and MM highly, survival is a fun distraction but it’s not amazing or anything to me, my 2 cents

It’s a pretty common response said by those who play it. Even you yourself call it fun. Those who claim to not enjoy it tend to (almost always really) add that they are still angry over SV becoming Melee and will never play it. It’s an easy trend to notice when one reads the posts made by both sides.

BM and MM both raid viable, good even. However PVP is probably worse it has ever been. Survival is okay for PVP but honestly its a huge learning spike just to be slightly below average.

I played SV and like to play it more; however, I always end up back to BM. It is just much simpler rotation, and when it comes to soloing open world npcs it can not beat SV.

The other issues are caused by have better range weapon options and Azerite talents costing too much to swap.

I don’t have a problem soloing elites as spec personally, but I can understand having better gear and going with that Spec.

Having to carry around two sets got overwhelming, so started focusing on BM.

Even if okay gear my pets were having some issues with Nazja elites and rares, so did not think soloing as MSV was a good idea.

I hear there are some pretty good creams for that itch. You should check those out, especially if it’s returning.

There there Naham. After accusing me of being ignorant towards MSV the other week? Granted you sort of took it back but still…

I can guarantee you that I have tried it and still did not like it. You also know why. I don’t like melee combat. Plain and simple.

Now, you did say ‘‘usually’’, so I’m guessing you don’t mean everybody. But it does imply ‘‘most’’, which I would argue as well, not to be true. It probably is true, in some cases, but not all that many…

Honestly, if you feel the draw, go for it. Noone else can tell you yes or no.

If you last played hunter back in Cata, you will find that a lot has changed(as it did with most classes in Legion).

BM is still a BM spec, though with more focus on niched stand-alone abilities.
Most things that enhances your main pet are passive effects.

MM is intended to be the lone ranger/sniper now more than ever. Pet use is not promoted in any way. And you can opt out of using one entirely if wanted.

SV has changed the most, as they made it into a melee-spec in Legion.
Sort of with the intention of taking it towards the early roots of that of a hybrid with both ranged as well as additional melee capabilities.
Difference now though is that the main focus is melee rather than ranged combat.
And the ranged aspect is not about using a ranged weapon. You have some niche abilities as well as much focus on using a pet to fight alongside.

They really homogenized pets alot so if you can live with almost being forced to use certain pets then go for it.

It’s great being able to essentially solo anything you want, I have mained BM since vanilla as a casual pleb purely for this reason. There have even been low keys where I just end up clefthoof stomping a myth plus the last 35%ish of a boss fight to finish it up.

Read the posts of other people and then get back to me on it.

You’re the one who made the claim so it is on you to provide the examples.

Technically I don’t but… look in these threads:

Really though just look at most SV threads since Legion. You can even skip Bepples’ posts even though he fits that to a T.

Yea, that’s fair.

While I haven’t gone out of my way to really dig into the pros and cons offered by both sides, what I have read (aside from the posts that whine for the sake of whining), I’ve actually seen myself agreeing with some of the legitimate gripes people have with melee-SV even though I enjoy it myself.

Your claim was that most people who say that they don’t think the current Survival is the most fun spec to play, are lying or have never played it.

How can you possibly say this?

Personally, I have only tried the MSV spec in Legion or now in BfA during the Alpha/Beta testing. I’ve never done any raids or PvP with it.
Only levelled with it and done…1 or 2 dungeons.
I say that it certainly isn’t the most fun spec to play.

Am I lying?

I don’t like melee combat. No matter how much I play MSV, I will not come to like it.

Now, I agree that there are a few who post replies which when read, it kinda tells you that they don’t really know what they are talking about.
But to say that most people who talk about MSV in a negative way are lying or haven’t played it…

Because I have been reading posts from both sides long enough to make the observation. There is no need to make the statement personal. You can always do the work to prove me wrong. ATM you are an outlier, an exception to the rule.

if you haven’t played since cata then don’t bother. the class is boring and gutted now. i dislike every spec.
