I wouldn’t mind if gear was completely irrelevant before max level. Grinding out gear=/=skill.
Then why are you playing an mmorpg? Fortnite is waiting for you.
Games not remotely balanced before 120 with unfinished classes and wonky scaled abilities. Gear discrepancies just add to the mayhem.
Play with the big boys at 120.
There are all kinds of ways for people to hide who their alts are. There is one undocumented forum feature that I discovered. When I put some people on mute, I also stopped getting notifications from others who magically showed up every time the muted person did to fight their battles. I discovered it a while ago in the GD and tested it here.
I’ve not see so many people have conversations with themselves since Willy back in the original forums.
Ya because the gear grind and gameplay at 120 is such fun. Doing WQs and other timesink gameplay just to get AP is not my idea of fun.
I hate to say it, but I’ll have to take one from your book to respond to this:
No seriously, if the main focus of this game is not fun, maybe it’s time to find another game?
You mean gameplay that doesn’t involve one/two shotting people with broken abilities at low level with almost zero room for counterplay?
You’re just being lazy or is that what they tell the levelers. I get confused sometimes.
This is the one ironic thing I never understood. Why is it ok for a person to refuse to put any effort into their max level character… and it’s perfectly acceptable regardless of their reason but can turn around and tell a casual leveler that they’re lazy for not going above the norm, regardless of their reason?
I’m not complaining. What reason do I have to complain?
I enchant heirlooms on each of my alts, which I can post on upon request. That’s how I know that they aren’t enough.
I can also recall a thread from recent memory in which a twink attempted to prove that the difference was close enough by doing a side-by-side comparison of the stat breakdowns for heirloom/dungeon gear clad players and full twinks.
His results backfired, showing a considerable difference in raw both stat numbers and their allocations.
That thread might be tougher to dredge up- those few replies in particular. Maybe I could break out my archaeologist outfit later and try to find it but many of the posters in this thread were in that one too and I’m not sure that I care enough at this juncture.
I do remember that thread. And the gear that he was posting was just blue gear. Now that those with XP turned off have all the time to make those blues into purples, the numbers are even wider.
Twinks will happily show you the stat differences between one heirloom and one BiS piece because the difference appears reasonable in that vacuum.
They’ll seldom show you the overall differences between characters geared in these ways for good reason.
The only comparisons I’ve seen were blues vs heirlooms. But you are correct, if the difference on 1 piece (head, for example) was just a simple 3, that doesn’t sound so bad. But multiply that by 14 total gear slots, that comes to 42, which is nothing to scoff at. Now, make those blues into purples and see where those numbers go.
He also didn’t include the stats gained by enchants, which levelers have realistically limited access to (we’re not going to enchant non-heirloom gear, for example, and most of us don’t have heirloom rings, heirloom trinkets are garbage, etc.).
I used to say “feasible” but limited access works too. I remember someone talking about how cheap enchants were. I told them “maybe on your server”. On the 2 servers I play on, one has reasonable prices for them and the other… lol, they’re high even for people with gold.
You definitely should. Rings with an enchant will last you 50 levels. I dont have time for no garrison shipyard ring, ima just enchant the first blue I get from a BG.
With you on that. Some server economies are so whack. Most of my twinks are characters I started leveling when I first started playing, so they’re on low pop pve servers with like 12 people actively selling things on the ah.
My lower pop server, prices are fairly reasonable and fluctuate (which is expected) but my high pop server, prices for everything (not just enchantments) are so stupid. I’ve made a killing just off those Battle-Scarred Augment Runes.
It depends on the enchantment. Max level relevant enchants are almost never a good purchase and are almost always the most expensive ones (Besides Naga Hide, fun fact, the proc for 15k shield isn’t scaling based on level at the moment ). There is a weapon enchant for 2hs that gives 50 agility, very cheap mats, and BiS until 110.
Just sort by price and grab the cheapest ones you can find and you’re good imo, even my twinks arent using the best enchants, just the ones with the most bang for my buck.
Most non-heirloom enchants are under 150g, so very easily obtainable, and allows your items to last for dozens of levels.
I can do that on my low pop server easily. And I speak for only myself. My high pop server… I sometimes wonder if it’s some kind of anomaly with the market because I’ve dabbed in a couple other servers that friends play on and they were not like that.
The only good thing about it is world PVP was much more fun. I don’t have to actively search for it.
