A question regarding boosting experience nerfs and level differences

Hello, question for anyone who is familiar with the smaller details of boost experience nerfs and level differences.

I understand there is a massive drop in experience gained for boostees, for example, in a place like RFC/SFK/SM/Strat where the difference between you and your booster is very large, and the relational color of their level to yours would be red/grey.

Does the loss in boosted experience go away when they come within your green level range? Which in the case of TBC is within 8 levels (level 62)

Basically what I’m asking is, will Slave Pens and Shadow Labs boosting still be viable after the change? or does the formula cause some version of experience nerf all the way up to 1 level difference?

Thank you folks!

Slave Pens and Slabs boosts will be impossible because of the snare and slowing nerfs.

Oh that’s actually very true.

Lets say I’m a level 70 paladin who is tanking for level 62 friends to level their characters in dungeons. How will the experience be affected?

Level 60 friends would clearly be affected negatively because they’re within the “grey” relative level range, but level 62 is when they’d be in the “green” relative level range.

That I’m not to sure on.

I do remember someone posted the same or very similar question you have and someone replied with a story about how they were in a Stocks group and they leveled to I believe 26 and the xp tanked significantly but I don’t recall all the specifics around that.

Not sure myself, honestly its a shame that “boosting” got such a bad rep. My motto is “boosting is not an exploit, its an artform”.

That’ll probably depend on the dungeon. You could probably help with Slavepens and Underbog. The Hellfire instances might be too low.

That being said, a paladin would probably need to wear a pure threat set in order to regen enough mana to make it worth while.

The gaps in my knowledge are pertaining to how much experience those level 62+ players would get. I’m trying to decide if me tanking for 62+ death knights and what not would be harmful to their progress.

Many of these players will for sure just tank their own dungeons, but I have a group who doesn’t feel keen on doing so, and so I offered to tank for them if the experience hit isn’t significant. So now I’m trying to determine the experience situation.

I do have a level 62 warrior I could test this on the beta with, but I don’t know anyone with beta to test it.
