They can enjoy their content droughts that come earlier and more often when the replayability of the game is relatively lower without systems in place to keep content accessible
The real compromise would be remove the auto grouping but add in the teleportation. Itās supposed to be for random dungeons. Nothing says random dungeon like being forced into a group and getting to pick a dungeon. At that point Iād rather make the group and gate keep fresh 80s after 3 or 4 weeks. Iād never run occulus or violet hold ever again after I had the achievements.
We have different opinions on what makes this a good or a bad game. You think RDF makes it better, I think it makes it worst. Iām trying to propose a way that allows you to benefit from some of what you like from RDF, while allowing others not to suffer from what they donāt like about RDF.
I guess we could also just continue to be black and white in our opinions and argue that itās all or nothingā¦ but that didnāt serve one of the two camps very well, and while Iām on the winning side, I donāt necessarily enjoy seeing other players feel betrayed and unable to enjoy the game the way they see fit. It will be 100% impossible to please everyone, a compromise seemed like the best option.
Because what server your on matters about 0 but who plays there does.
Content droughts will exist with and without RDF. They donāt suddenly cease to exist because of RDF, thatās frankly absurd.
Not false. I guess for my ācompromiseā to work, the auto-grouping feature would need to assign a dungeon to that group, and lock entry into other dungeons for a small period of time? Idk iām not a game designer xD
If the new LDF tool was half functionalā¦ maybe. But itās not. Finding a group for the daily heroic is going to be a total PITA for some specs. The only thing most of us Pros care about is wasting time spamming chat.
Of all things to keep from classic and TBC, I would have thought mindless spamming would have been the last thing anyone would have wanted to keep. I was wrong.
Wellā¦ i think the compromise I suggested would almost entirely eliminate that for those who donāt wish to use the LFG channel?
Exactly. Without RDF there is no deadmines or stockades for horde. No ragefire chasm or wailing chasm for alliance. After TBC, without epic flying mounts, RDF isnt necessary since you can get to any dungeon in under 2 minutes
Itās a band-aid fix due to Blizzardās negligence. I donāt see an issue with opening RDF up to cross-realm after a certain point in the queue.
I donāt mean to disrespect, but is this a real argument? Implement RDF so that RFC, Wailing Caverns and Deadmines are more accessible for opposing factions??
How many times do you think we heard, ānoā in regards to Classic WoW? We even heard it on stage at Blizzcon.
Wrath had the longest content drought at the time in ICC (one year), but RDF was also added. And, somehow, the population was stabilized that whole year.
How do you think?
RDF is not needed later on. Its only necessary in classic
Itās definitely still needed later on. But without it on Azeroth very few dungeons will be run.
Difference is Classic was an easy way for Blizzard to make tons of money. Everyone knew they would eventually do it.
RDF isnāt even remotely comparable. Not even the persistence from the RDF crowd is on the level of the persistence of the ENTIRETY of the Classic crowd. Itās desperate to try and compare the two, which is why itās completely unsurprising to see this comparison from pro-RDF.
Could be anything, could be the period in time, lack of other games, the rise of streaming, Warcraft videos going viral, could also be the culmination of the Lich King story, a story that was being told across multiple games for over a decade now that people were invested in, etc. etc.
I donāt know and you donāt know either. You should stop pretending you do.
Itās nice to hear from you again though.
Youād think player retention would be important then.
It also costs far less to implement than Classic did, and see above.
You think the story was the reason players kept playing for a full year with no new content (and RS was laughable)? You think for a full year there werenāt other games to play?
Nobody knows, not even Blizzard. So itās a very questionable decision to axe a system added at the time that very clearly has a lot of love from the playerbase. Especially when weāre already bleeding players, as we always do in content droughts - but has happened much faster in Classic, even before all the content was released.
I am not a fan of RDF as it was originally implemented. However, I also agree that there should be room for compromise.
-
Old Azeroth (1-60): After the XP buff goes away and WotLK launches, I could see there being difficulty getting these dungeons going. I would be find with RDF for dated content like this. Since there is no flying, I wouldnāt care THAT much about teleportation. I would also be OK with this being x-realm.
-
TBC: I think there will be decent activity here. Whether RDF is expanded to include TBC or not, I am indifferent. Teleportation is not necessary. X-realm is not necessary.
-
WotLK: I wouldnāt do RDF for current content but for compromise, not going to be upset if they allow it (same server only, no teleportation)
It sure is. Relevance?
Any cost at all would be too much. Thereās absolutely zero financial incentive for Blizzard to do it, and you think theyāre willing to go into the negative for it? Why, to prevent a vocal minority from making a big fuss on the forums? Not a chance.
Certainly one of the many possibilities. You donāt know and I donāt know either.
Over 10 years ago, yeah, I do. Are you new to gaming or are you just completely ignorant of gaming history?
Right, so as I said before, you should stop pretending you do.
How immersed are you really getting on a 5 minute flight path? I think this is by far the worst argument from the anti-crowd. Are we going to become friends and meet people from Dalaran to Gundrak? No. Not at all.
Iāve been playing classic since it opened. Hi. Need summon? You know a tank? GG. That is 99% of everything ever said in a pug instance group over the last four years. This isnāt a singles mixer. We arenāt going to become friends waiting for a Scarlett Monastery tank.
Iāve made my peace that they arenāt adding it anytime soon. If I have to struggle to find groups every day, Iām gone. I am not alone in feeling this way.
Not even remotely how my dungeon runs go.
Mind you, I am a social player. Not surprised that anti-social players barely utter a peep and want to treat this like a single player game.
