A plea to Blizzard for regular flying in Dragonflight

And maybe enabling normal flight alongside so people have a choice or there is an option for those who really can’t deal with the DR mechs/visuals.

This is what I want. Enable DR everywhere so that people who enjoy it can use it. But enable normal flight for people like me who have issues with DR.

Why wouldn’t that be the case? Blizz already said it would be coming at some point.

was more pointing it out for those who see things like “DR is the way from now on” and can’t even think of the idea that it will be alongside normal flight.

Agreed. Blizz is depriving paying customers of content they paid for. There was no warning that people with physical challenges may not be able to do the content.

I’ve fought with it to the point where I simply cannot do it anymore.

Oh cool! Made-up statistics, neat!

They aren’t going to sit there and say anything negative about something they have trumpeted as their main expansion feature. However, number would indicate a problem. To quote a report on their recent financial report:

However, despite the increased retention in World of Warcraft , or the higher engagement hours for Overwatch 2 as well as season 3 of OW2 in February, MAUs dropped 40% versus last quarter.

The MAU (or Monthly Active Users) isn’t a subscription number, its an indicator of people logging onto their game. So that’s down a whopping 40% from last year, and a goodly part of that has to relate to WoW. If dragonriding is “incredibly popular” then it seems to be incredibly popular with an ever declining number of people. The MAU’s for the last quarter are as low as they were in June last year, in the middle of the Shadowlands drought.

Do I know that driding is the cause? No, obviously not but if it was as popular as you and others say, then it would be tempting more people to play, which it does not appear to be.

as somebody who doesnt struggle with dragonriding at all and completely and utterly prefers it to the point where I’m gonna demand it’s in the rest of the game forever… I agree.

regular flying should be an option for all players, particularly as an accessibility option but even just as a lazy preference for players who’d rather point and click autorun. there’s no actual downside to this being allowed sooooo I really hope they can do some sort of toggle-mode in the future or something so everybody can fly how they want all over the damn game

I don’t champion it because it gets rid of bots. It won’t get rid of bots, in fact I still see bots.

It does however, make the act of flying both FUN and INTERACTIVE, two things a game should be doing. When’s the last time you had fun on a standard flying mount, outside of your first time to a new zone and seeing it? Exactly. Dragon riding is like driving a Ferrari. Whether you’re getting groceries or going on a weekend drive for fun, it’s blast. By far the best system blizz has added in yeaaaars

I would quit the game on the spot. I think I would delete my account.

Wow… I had no idea. That’s actually quite alarming. Queues are getting longer and longer to where many nights I just log off from doing nothing. Even during SL I always had something to do (Pandemic “helped with that”. Over and above everything, I miss my mounts so much. I am so tried of Dragonridign dragons only.

Or it’s very popular among those still playing? I’ll just go by what Blue has stated even if it’s just spin as opposed to guessing.

If someone wants to chug along slowly on an old mount then god bless. I just want my old mounts to get the dragonriding treatment.

I dont think a mode of transportation is going to get anyone to log in specifically for that feature. For me its fun to use as a tool but not something I am saying: “Ive gotta log in to go Dragonriding!!” Did they think that would be the case? I dont know. They sure made it a focus in the DF hype though. I think the “less chores” may have shot them in the foot. I think the xpac is fun but its just more WoW at this point. I dont know if anything they do in the future is going to move the needle too much. I cant imagine them GAINING players in a game this old. People who are going to play are basically already playing IMO. Ill be playing, I still enjoy WoW as a passtime. But I realistically expect users to decline to a lower base level after every xpac surge from here on out.

Regardless, it was hyped as a major feature, and I doubt it was ever something that people really cared about. Normal flight at launch would have been just as enticing and as big of a break from their normal mold as DR is imo.

I agree , I was looking forward to it as a novelty, something new to mess with… and I still enjoy it. Did I “care”? eh… I go back and level alts with regular flying and dont find myself “missing” DR-ing. So I would have been fine with regular flying too. Oldschool flying DOES feel like moving in quicksand though.

100% agreed. Regular flying should be an option for those who dont feel comfortable with dragon riding

Ya sure Lightbringer is deader by the day I think its DR along with one of worse xpacs ever . I just told guild I will be unsubbing . Big part is dragon riding !!!

Understandable, another one of my mates declared he is unsubbing due to still not getting the real flying mechanics in this patch…

Don’t blame them…I am sick of dragon flying while trying to gather ores or herbs…the constant lose of vigor and having to stop to allow vigor to rebuild up is maddening…I want my Druid herbing Flight form back so I can pick flowers the right way with my druids claws.

almost 5 months of expansion and you still haven’t learned how to use the dragon?

I almost NEVER lose stamina farming herbs, even more so with the choice to regain stamina every time I gather herbs
