A Plea for Mercy for my Friend

The only thing they “May” do, is expose any untruths or outright lies (publicly, I might add).

Good! Let them!
I’ve asked him to post in this thread so they may be able to.

Tbf there have been rare instances where blues have stepped in and forwarded the info to higher ups and things did happen… however not with perma bans that got to a point where they told you to stop making tickets.

So unfortunately my vote goes into “the friend is lying” hat.

I can see why a stranger on the internet would believe he is lying, but I know he is not lying or hiding a single thing. Thus why I am so adamant. I hope this situation becomes one of those rare instances you are talking about.

That doesn’t really apply to account actions, more so when it comes to the outcome. They can see notes left and chat logs, but they don’t have any link to the appeals tema or talk to them.

Small update: My friend is attempting to post in the thread but the ban is making him unable to. When this gets resolved, he will, if he is even able to.

Unless you are with them 24/7 and seeing everything they do on their computer etc, you can only speculate - just like we can only speculate.

Unless you have access to the logs (none of us do besides Blizzard) - nobody can say for certain they’re innocent.

Most of the time we see posts like this, it turns out the actioned player was ignorant of the rules.

He was definitely ignorant of the rule about not being able to login to his PC from his phone to play WoW. If he had known, he would not have done it to begin with. Let’s make that clear.

From your statements you seem to think your friend had their license closed for Anti-Cheat violations. That is handed by the Hacks team, not GMs. GMs can, at most, check to see that the account was flagged, but not verify the ban criteria. To do that, it has to be escalated to the Hacks team who go back through their detection criteria to see if there is a false positive. Then they fix detection criteria, run the scans again, and unban anyone caught up in it accidentally - as a group.

The GMs do not have the ability to do the deep dive into Anti-Cheat that your friend seems to want. They also always use templates when replying to appeals. That does make it sound very impersonal.

As others said, nobody here can do that. The CS forum is an Information Desk to help folks navigate the Support ticket system, explain policies, explain account services, etc. There are no GMs here, and certainly no way to directly reach the Hacks team who handle Anti-Cheat penalties. The only person they will discuss this with is the account holder.

They can appeal up until the reply tells them that they are risking their Bnet account and crossing over into GM harassment territory. If your friend has not reached that point, they can submit another polite appeal, asking that it be escalated to the Hacks team and/or to have mercy and reduce it. The GMs won’t discuss it with them or allow a debate. They will get only a template back with whatever decision there is.

Just a compliment - your posts are well written and polite, which is always a great start when asking for help! It makes it easy for others to see what is going on and give the information and advice related to it.

All someone needs to post here is a Battlenet account with a level 10 character on it. Your friend is free to create another Battlenet account using their real information matching the first account, and a new email. Then level to 10 on retail and they should be able to post once the forums catch up to the account char existing. The Blues would need a char name - server from him when he posts. Calling out someone else is not allowed, but posting your own char name-server is.

Does he need to buy the game again/add a subscription to do so?

No. The Support forums do not require game time or a Sub to post.

unless you are at his computer 24/7 (obviously impossible) you have no way to know for sure

Ok, he is going to do this then. Thank you.

You are a good friend wanting to help, Kekbra - the problem is you really can’t.

Since it’s not your account, there is only so much we could share with you, practically nothing.

I can go into a little of what is involved in these from a GMs perspective, just generically.

This type of account action is not done by CS - at all. This is done by our Hacks Team. Any overturns or modifications also have to come from them. Now, when an appeal comes in they do look it over, but if it looks like the evidence is solid, it will most normally be upheld.

I can see this was sent to them for review - but that can take some time to come back. Sometimes the player is told about that, sometimes - if it’s doubtful of overturn, they may not be informed.

Now, if it comes back as a change they WOULD be informed. If it’s upheld, they already have the answer.

If you wish to share that with your friend you are welcome to do so, but that is absolutely the most I can share with you - or in this case, even with him since the review is still out.

Thank you very much for your response. It is ok you cannot share anything with me, I understand.

I will tell him about the review and he will also do what the MVP suggested to level a toon to 10 so he can reference his own character here of his own accord.

Thank you.

This is just to help, as I feel it may have been missed:

This is actually good news to know it was escalated to the Hacks team for review. That is the best chance your friend has. Keep in mind, this forum really is just an Information Desk about the support process so this information may be all that can be publicly talked about, even to your friend.

At least your friend now knows it has been pushed up to the Hacks team!

The OP did catch it and said he would pass it on to his friend

I think Zenjy was just trying to make sure the OP knew that the case was escalated to the Hacks team for review. That is helpful to know and, while not a guarantee of anything, is a tiny bit encouraging.

That is good news indeed. There is hope. Thank you, Mirasol.

Edit: I do not know for sure if anyone here was involved, but my friend and I just found out the account closure was overturned and his account was restored. I cannot thank you enough, truly, from the bottom of my heart. Thank you all so much for your assistance.

Glad to hear it all worked out.

Appeals can be cumbersome, and ones like this aren’t very transparent from necessity - but the system does work, albeit sometimes slowly.

I think it was more so that even if the friend made the post, they would get pretty much the same info.
Op did say they would pass it along and the friend would level a toon to 10 to post.

Which having their friend level just to post would be redundant since cs can’t help.

Wow, almost instant overturn. Thank you brah and thank you to the community support here. I did 3 or 4 tickets and kind of gave up a month ago after getting told repeatedly it was going to be upheld.
