A New Hardcore Community

The HC rules many of us are following are not strictly speaking designed to make it more challenging, they are there to eliminate pay-to-win. In fact, if I had my choice, I would like to play on a realm that had grouping, trading, email and the AH permanently disabled. It would mean no bots, no gold selling, no gold buying, no pay-to-win, no power leveling. For me losing some of the social aspects of the game would be well worth it. Besides, look at the HC guild chat and tell me there is no social aspect to HC play. A great deal of fun is had by all.

Hardcore is bad and against the core values of Classic WOW. It’s also EXTREMELY boring.

Yea most people dont just play super safe grinding green mobs.

Im on hardcore at lvl 29 and killed a 32 elite mob today. Did a lvl 35 quest that was red. Now some quest are just obvious you cant do without a group in the world so those are off limits but alot of people are taking risk.

The fun part is that dying is a consequence so you feel the risk of the world in everything you do. Making the game feel more intense at later levels as there is so much to lose if you mess up. Some people will play very cautious because of this, many play the same way and just have to make the right choices to not die. People go in caves, they aoe farm on mages, and do all the dungeons. Its up to you if you grind green mobs for 8 days or play in the way you want. If you just grind green mobs GL surviving in max level dungeons and raids though as that is the next part of the challenge which you cannot just grind green mobs anymore.

The OP? :dracthyr_a1: The OP was fairly respectful in their post, and have been in the discord so far since I’ve been in it!

Were we talking about Blindrune? Or Daddysinpie? Because if it’s the former, yeah - that was just… kind of an unnecessary rant over a playstyle they clearly dislike. And it’s fine to dislike HC! No one is forced to do it, and many even do different variations on the HC challenge depending on their personal preferences - like myself. Being so aggressive about your distaste for the challenge and playstyle, though, isn’t really constructive to anyone.

No one is really forcing anyone to do HC challenge, or even do the HC challenge the “proper” way with the addon and all. Complaining about it as they did seems pointless, when it is very easy to just not engage with it at all.

Nah.
You’re not bad. Not even a bad HC player because it’s simply

If you’re enjoying then you’re “doing it right” and a good player.
That goes for everyone.

Urge to roll yet another new character is rising. Starting fresh on Atiesh sounds like a lot of fun but I’m spread a bit thin at the moment as it is. :frowning:

Same here, admittedly. I haven’t even made much progress the past couple of weeks on this lad for the LotR challenge I was doing with him alongside my friend… been busy leveling some alts in retail (including a retail version of this very character :dracthyr_crylaugh: What can I say, I got attached!).

I have characters sitting ready on Atiesh for when I get to them, and my friend and I did sort of start the HC journey on a couple of troll shamans, but we haven’t played them much either yet.

But oh well, I’m honestly not in a rush. I don’t have a lot of time as is, so I usually play retail or Classic as the mood suits me. Classic tends to be my more ‘chill time’ version of WoW, ironically - its a lot slower paced, and me doing the varieties of no-death challenge means I tend to take things slow on top of the built-in slowness, so I end up having lots of time to just enjoy the journey and take the world in.

Feel free to hop in the discord, though, if you ever do decide to roll an Atiesh alt! It’s a little quiet at the moment, but most of us are aware this kind of community takes time to build up.

Yeah, at the end of the day, these various challenges are meant to be for fun above everything. It’s why I don’t knock people who adjust the rules for the HC challenge or the LotR challenge or whatever - nor talk down to the people doing it the “proper” way, either. So long as people are having fun with whatever way they’re doing it, that’s all that matters!

This is a video game. Fun should be the priority.

With the possibility of official HC servers, this Discord community won’t really be necessary if that’s true. I will keep the Discord up, untill it’s 100% confirmed by Blizzard. If Blizzard does officially announce Classic Era (Please, Blizzard, NO ONE cares about hardcore retail, give us era and wrath) then I will shut down this Discord server, as it won’t be needed. Since an official server fills this need.

Why would you shut down your discord bc official servers are made? Most era servers have a discord, or atleast era clusters do. It makes sense to have a discord, perhaps reconfigure it to allow people to start getting their ducks in a row for an official server launch  Then It can be used from there to find guilds/groups/etc…

Well, the point was to have a place for people who want to play HC, without all the extra rules unless they specifically choose extra rules. Though, that’s a really good idea. Def something to think about.

How is the server doing?

What your doing is not hardcore or ironman challenge.

More rules in Ironman challenge then Hardcore.

I would call your style of death=delete Softcore

This is a great idea, so many people play HC this way already on BB, will join!

I mean playing hardcore and using third party addons is pretty weak imo

whats the name of the guild?

With official hc servers in the near future, this has been disbanded. Since there’s no longer a need.
