I’ll get flamed for this, but this is why GDKP was so nice. Even if you didn’t win any loot, as long as you contributed you still felt like you got to walk away with something by getting a gold cut at the end.
I’ve done 3 full MC clears and it took until the end of the 3rd run for me to win my first item under the 2SR system. While it was great to see my friends get loot the first 2 runs, it felt pretty bad to come up with nothing after buying all the consumes and getting world buffed.

Exactly. And even buyers who get outbid on an item they wanted can console themselves with the fact that they will profit from the high bid at the end.
Basically the only sad faces at the end of GDKPs are those who screwed up and got their cut reduced as punishment. And they deserved that.

I personally don’t want it to be on fresh. I’m mainly a Whitemane guy and like the server having something unique to offer.
So, raiding’s not fun unless you’re guaranteed to get something?
That’s like not playing PvP games unless you win only.

Theyve been completely unhinged about the GDKP ban for a year now. Theres been DDoS attempts over it. An entire planetary supply of salt all because they cant use RMT’d gold to buy gear.
Fun fact: a large chunk of them have taken to “silent auctions” instead where they hit a venmo/cashapp account, skipping RMT’d gold entirely, to buy gear. The bidding is entirely done via discord.
The issue is that several former GDKP groups have had someone dump the account and run off with the cash, going completely radio silent and off grid, absconding with - in at least 1 case - 5 digits worth of cash leaving the rest of the group with zero recourse due to the nature of the transactions the account is being used for.
You love to see it.

I mean, it’s more fun when you are. So I choose to raid on Whitemane.
It’s not fun when having a sizeable pile of gold is required to get anywhere, turning raids into marketplaces.
The average player wants to roll on gear, not buy it through GDKP.
Hence the ban- it has enough power to change endgame, and it has before, Classic 2019.
People who engage are just afraid of losing rolls.
It’s not healthy when no one plays the game ‘normally’ because all PvE requires bidding.

This era of WoW wasn’t about getting all the loots handed to you. It was about experiencing the journey with people you enjoy playing the game with. Obviously getting good loot is nice, but it shouldn’t be your main focus.

I would never raid with a raid that allows to roll for loot. It can happen that some person wins all loot, just because he is lucky.
Always raid with a loot council, the person with the worst item / needs it most will then get the loot.
Loot Council is fine until the Guild Master’s girlfriend/wife gets all the loot.
