To be honest those ballista should bounce off the ship or just get stuck in it.
If we are talking about real world physics.
Those Kultiran ships would completely decimate the Zandalari fleet.

If we start applying logic, the obsession on naval power in a world with in-lore mass teleportation and flight is absurd.
You need at least a little logic otherwise why bother with ships?
Get canoes.
I think you need to go back and watch it again. I counted like 26 Zandalari ships just in frame compared to I think 7 Alliance. And the way it is shot, it looks like there are more than the 26 the go of the side of the frame. When it cuts to the Alliance ships sinking, all of them have multiple fires on them and balista are continuing to rain down. This tells us a couple thinks. One, each ship took multiple hits to have separate fires. And with Balistia still raining down, all the Zandalari ships are still firing. The way it is cut together does not show you every hit, but it does show enough to indicate a far outnumber Alliance, with all Zandalari firing and the fact that the Zandalari fired multiple volleys. Sorry, not a one shot, one kill.
Each one takes multiple shots. And, I donât think they actually sink as much as just forced to move off. Also, be careful trying to consider raid mechanics as lore. For example, it takes different amount of shots depending on difficulty. So, which difficulty do you use?
I think you might under estimate real world physics. You absolutely could sink a ship with them. Given a choice, a cannon is a better option. But there is no way a balistia shot is going to bounce off a ship. There is way to much mass behind them.
The threshold for ships being an idiotic plot point is far beyond the minimum level of logic we need before the types of ships used is a factor. If you think too hard about the plot, thereâs this giant, throbbing mess hanging over the entire story. It screams, this plot hole. It gibbers and snarls like a Old God. Every so often it opens one of its many mouths to scream;
âWhy donât they just portal bombs on top of each other?â
Occuleth can already open a portal in Boralus with pinpoint accuracy, having ahead of time remotely identified an abandoned basement to use. This is not fan theory, he does this in the war campaign.
If we start thinking too hard about boats and their relative strengths, the Great Plot Hole Beast might remind someone that Occuleth/Mages/Void Elves can just slam dunk any location they like with some goblin demolitionists and one mage.
Letâs stick with Ballista popping galleons in a word where steel aircraft carriers and airships exist. Itâs nicer here.
I went back and watched it just now and youâre right. Itâs not clearly one-shot, one-kill on every ship. Thereâs several that could be interpreted as taking two (Although thereâs no secondary explosion so itâs more likely they overshot, but Iâll be generous), but also clearly ships that have been dropped by a single shot.
One or two, theyâre dead after a single volley. The very next scene shows no additional hits and the ships are keeling over, hard dead after the initial barrage.
Magic.
Besides its not like they are steel ships they are wood a Ballista bolt would not bounce off. Also they blow up on impact.
They sink if you watch them they will slowly list and burn as they fill with water then finally sink.
Doesnt matter how many it takes in what difficulty they sink. Also it could be that they would sink with one in lore but one would be too easy for a raid.
China liked to claim it was a great empire once.
Then the british arrived with their op!um.
That naval engagement ended rather quickly.
To be honest, the Horde swept through Ashenvale, decimating outposts and having Rogues assassinate entire settlements. Then the Hordeâs armies made their way into Darkshore, wiping out additional Kaldorei towns/settlements.
When you think about it, the only Night Elven settlements unaffected by the War of Thorns would be those in Feralas and the Eastern Kingdoms. I can only think of one in the Eastern Kingdoms, and itâs in the Wetlands.
Feralas. Desolace. The outer edges of Ashenvale. Hyjal. Winterspring. Felwood.
None of those areas are major population centers.
Camps and forts at most.
Not to mention the capital for centuries (if not more) in Moonglade.
Night elves are pretty wide-spread. And mostly seem to live in small settlements.
From Elegy:
The World Tree was more than a city. It was an entire land, home to countless innocents. How many night elves were elsewhere in Azeroth? Far too few. Now, they were all who remained of their people.
Um the alliance is in very much the same position, why do you think you all are about to start conscripting farmers? If anything it could be said the alliance is In an even greater state of decline with the desturion of stromgarde alterac lod and Gilneas a long with dal becoming a neutral city you all are on the ropes
Lastly, as per the end of the raid dialog the Horde is the one in the ropes with the Alliance weeks aways from victory.
No thatâs what the optomistic alliance leaders are saying and itâs all rather irrelevant anyway due to the fact that you are all on the verge of conscripting farmers. Could the alliance take silvermoon? Most likely but then youâd be stuck in the same asymtrict war the horde is on dark shore and wasting even more troops trying to secure eversong. You could assault org but letâs be honest last time it took the combined might of the horde and alliance to take that city. so given the current state of things Iâd say both factions are running out of steam. The best thing the alliance can hope for is that the horde deposes the current warchief and that the new warchief will be more willing to come to the table for peace talks
taking the sunwell can be a powerful bargaining chip.
You effectively hold the blood elves hostage.
And blood elves only have loyalty for themselves. Besides this war was started by Sylvanas going full arthas.
Both the Nightborne and Blood Elves should be bloody outraged but so far they are âconcernedâ.
I am surprised the Highmountain are not ALREADY in full blown rebellion.
Their ancestor fought and were blessed by Malfurion and Cenarius.
How could they be possibly be ok in joining the Horde to kill him and his people?
too many cooks in the kitchen.
They tell Christie to make Teldrassil as horrible as possible.
Tell some other guy to write for Lordaeron.
Tell some other guy to write for Dazaralor.
According to the spreadsheet we are now even.
Actual payoff: Not found.
Nearly every Tauren NPC Hordeside after Lordaeron is a Highmountain Tauren. Flightmasters, quest givers, commanders, generic troops, etc.
Theyâve been big supporters of the war so far.
Nobody tell Cenarius. He might take those epic horns away.
