Holy crap.
This… this reply explain why 3k… is a dead population…
Holy crap.
Yeah, it is. Cross-realm.

perhaps you should transfer to one of those mega servers before Blizzard listens to your request and locks out transfers. and faction changes… and unsubbing…
You gotta know, TBC, looking forward, it only gets worse… the reasons for the slow migration only get worse in Wrath and beyond.
I think i may be misunderstanding your post. Do you think that because server imbalance is a “player created problem” that nothing beyond a player created solution should be used?
You ask what could have been done to prevent this, but surely you could think of a couple different approaches from blizzard that might have prevented or even fix this. (e.g. directing players from specifc dead servers to specific destinations, just one example).
If you think that player created server faction problems should only be solved by player created problems, do you extend this logic to other aspects of the game? This type of logic to problems outside of wow greatly limits problem solving.
Why? Because outside of raids I finished the game? Because I don’t enjoy my class/spec in pvp anymore when Mages and Rogues are obnoxious?
Raid. Farm. I have all the badge gear, I have extra badges. I don’t play alts.
3K is plenty of raiders. Go do something with your time.
Because this is an MMORPG. Raid logging doesn’t work for that. It requires that there are a lot of people doing everything for the world to function. That is why 3k players that should be more then enough for a good realm fails… because 90% of those people are like you. They don’t want to play an MMO they want to play a boss rush. Why they don’t just go play a boss rush game I have no idea.
Wrong. I finished the part you call an MMO, and I’m at the end game raiding level.
Why would I run heroics? Why would I level alts?
If 90% of the player base is doing what I’m doing then 3K is fine 90% of the players.
a way they coulda prevented this was to whenever a server was created to limiting more of a particular faction to join if the balance is getting to far out of wack. Like despite all of new world’s problems the one thing they did do right was how they didn’t allow people to join one of the 3 factions if they weren’t close in numbers
Wrong… you can’t finish an MMO that is the entire point. You have done everything you wanted to do so treat this game like it is a different genre of game and wonder why there are issue.
Oh, I don’t know maybe because you enjoy playing the game, but I guess you don’t. It is cool that you only like raiding, but that isn’t all the game is, and when there isn’t people doing what the rest of the game is… it falls apart.
Yeah, it is fine for the players who don’t actually want to play an MMO. For those that do… which are the one complaining about dead realms. It isn’t enough. Because your 90% isn’t playing the game. The reason why 3k isn’t enough now, but was far more then enough back then. Was because there was always people leveling, there was always people farming, there were always people running dungeons, there was always people wanting to group for arena and bgs. Your playstyle while fine for you kills every other aspect of the game. Which is why realms like benediction have to exist… because now we need those numbers to actually have living realms.
No there wasn’t.
We raid logged original TBC as well.
I think you missed the part where I said if the trend continues with Whitemanes ally depop, the game will be unplayable due to faction imbalance, getting ganked having to travel on foot to the next 3 raids.
Better get your herbs and mining nodes before they connect because all it will connect is all the bots.
My 2 am farm sessions will be ruined just ruined.
Unbalance server for the isle will be horrible since u have to go through a portal or fly from silvermoon.
Sure you can.
Vashj and Kael are dead.
Games over till a new raid is out, then when those bosses are dead it’s over till a new raid I out.
When you beat sunwell you have beaten TBCC.
The fact of the matter is that Blizzard is forcing everyone’s hand in favor of this megaserver concept.
Whitemane WAS basically 50/50 all of classic. A few other servers were near that range. The alliance decline was do-able up until recently, when Blizzard announced an absolutely out of touch and messed up “free transfer” system that only allowed you to go to Bene or Faerlina or Whitemane. They know the real issue is balance, but they don’t care. They have pushed players on these imbalanced big servers to the point where if they don’t drop 25 bucks PER character, the rest of BC will be unplayable, simply because I won’t be able TO DO anything without getting bang bro’d by 10 horde plus.
And let’s say the day finally comes where all of alliance whitemane is dumped into Benediction, that server is already disgustingly overpopulated. Lagstorms will definitely be a thing when the new raids come out. That is not fun either.
I just wanted to play my favorite xpac of all time, which is one of my favorite games ever, but it is now impossible to truly do that. I don’t want to be on a disgustingly imbalanced megaserver, but I have no choice. The only way forward to play this game is to do so on a mediocre player-made concept that is being supported by Blizzard because it allows for quick cash.
Lag won’t exist because of layers.
Player base created these servers.
Blizzard enabled it.
“A dev’s job is to protect the players from themselves.”
There is no answer to fix server or faction balance aside from literally redoing the balance but these are prog servers and most likely won’t warrant those kind of changed.
Best course of action is to let the players decide what the servers become just like literally every other MMO.
Even when they tried to help all it did was made things worse.
Free transfers for servers just shifts the population and ruins more servers, remember when Stalagg was packed, how’s it doing now? Remember Heartseeker, how’s that server now??
If you try to police the servers then you get people who cant play with their friends, just like it happened to me, my server got locked and my friends couldn’t play on the server.
I mean fair, its probably too late now, but it remains Blizzards fault for enabling this.
I’m not into victim blaming.
And it’s dead now.
