A Guild Master’s take on Server Queues

I’ve been GM of my guild since P2 of original classic. We started on Earthfury (ya know, the one you said didn’t exist!) and from p2 - p4 it died like a majority of the server populations. Leaving us unable to find new recruits, support ourselves with the AH or have any kind of fun experience playing a social game. What did you do? Nothing. So we transferred to Faerlina out of pure survival only to find an immense amount of bots and boosters, again you did nothing. Then Pre Patch came, you all fcked that up beyond belief and on top of that the Queues began. And again, you did nothing except blame us for surviving your lack of action. So we soldiered through, spending way too much time having to keep our guild members happy because of how bad you lot are at your jobs. And then you actually opened free xfers to either new or dead realms…. That those of use who have been around Classic long enough know will not last 2/ 3 months before they die as well. So we try to just simply play the game and then we get hit with 10k+ Ques that we are blamed for by the fcking people we PAY A SERVICE FOR TO BE ABLE TO PLAY YOUR GAME, and you blame us for your own fumbles? The worst part is you know we will keep playing because of the type of game this is and the people we are. So you don’t care, we are money symbols to you, nothing more. Long gone are the days of the Dev Watercoolers, Ghostcrawler and actual community interaction from Devs. You obviously do not care about us anymore, you actually blame us for your own f*ck ups and horrible admin. I only wish you would pay as much attention to your player base as you payed attention to your female co workers you assaulted. And the absolute tragedy of all of this, is as a GM I have to watch each one of my members get aggravated, frustrated and lose hope. And there is nothing I can do about it. I believe I speak for everyone here when I say FIX THE SERVERS. But hey, thank God we have body type 1 and 2 and fruit paintings….

They deleted so many servers before wrath launch. Saying the non-megaservers are all going to be dead a couple months from now is a fallacy. Look how long of a run classic had originally and now with a fraction of the servers available you think all but the megas will die in a couple months? It just doesnt make logical sense.

If you believe that then what you’re saying is you think the only people who will play wrath past a month or two are only the people who played TBC right till the end which I think is ridiculous. Wotlk is one of, if not the most beloved xpacs in wow history, it will have a run closer to original classic than tbc imo. And again thats still not accounting for all the servers they deleted!

  • Blizzard allows servers to completely atrophy and offer no solution for months
  • Players spend an absolute joke amount of money to join a server that isn’t dead
  • Blizzard allows servers to become completely overpopulated so they can keep collecting server transfer money all the while knowing those populations are unsustainable.
  • Players are hit with 8 hour ques on prepatch and told to transfer to a realm of blizzards choosing ( this happened before, they died, majority paid to leave)
  • Blizzard cannot fix this issue!! ( Even though community managers put that lie to the flame)
-Players are told by other players this is their fault! Blizzard can’t do anything! They cant see server population apparently ( proactive efforts), and they wont be refunding that transfer money btw!
  • Players are once again sent to dead servers to restart the loop and pay blizzard $25 per character to leave.

The population will be a fraction of what it is - that’s the point. Megaservers can survive half their pop leaving, smaller servers can’t.

Yeah because they DIED before TBC even came out seem familiar?

See comment below

…. Are you serious?

Right. Obviously, which is why they NEED transfers now? That’s the whole point! I don’t understand how you’re not getting this. Yes some people will fall off in a couple weeks. Many will not, at least that is my belief, maybe im wrong but again I know for myself I played all of classic on a healthy medium pop server and it was great right up until the very end when many including myself got burned out. I never had any plans of playing tbc but always knew id be back for wrath. I think there are many others like me. We arent here for a short trip, we are back for wrath in its entirety.

I mean they survived some way into tbc but again I agree I dont think tbc is the data you should be comparing to is my point. I think wrath is a totally different beast. And now with a fraction of the servers there were for classic launch I find it highly unlikey if the populations were somewhat evenly spread from the megas what we have now woild all die in a couple months.

See above

It’s a chicken and egg problem. Nobody wants to transfer to a realm that might die. If people trusted Blizz not to extort them out of $25 that is.

Ever heard of the expression : “Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me?”

Homie you do understand how easy it is for people to gear up quickly and be done for the phase in Wrath right? People get their stuff then stop playing… I watched servers die after AQ and Naxx, I watched them die after SSC and TK and we will all watch them die a month after Naxx. You can not understand simple logic and pattern all you want, my question is why defend the people who dont care about you at all and just want your money? Youre screaming about transfers as if they dont already have them and it hasnt done sh*t…

Homie you’re comparing the first month of WRATH - again WoWs most beloved xpac - to AQ and Naxx?? You realize that was well over a year into classic launch? How long of a shelf life do you expect a 15 year old game to have? Add on top the burn out everyone had from world buff meta and yeah idk how you cant understand that these are two completely different things.

I dont care to defend blizz at all. They screwed leaving me on a dying server but now that we’re here im simply pointing out a lot of the issues people are having right now could be fixed if people on mega tool the free xfers. See that’s your problem. You guys think the only problem right now is megaserver Qs and you completely ignore that there are low/medium pop servers that have the opposite problem - they need some more bodies so that when the inevitable drop offs do start to happen it wont leave them completey dead.

As a guild leader myself I can completely understand your frustration. There is nothing I can do asside from stream some movies from my netflix for people stuck in ques. I have deep connections with my members and have known some of them since OG vanilla.

Grobbulus was a great server until blizzard closed the dead realms and allowed them to influx here. We are now having 13k ques every night. There is a 1.5 hour que RIGHT NOW. The players on Grobbulus did not do this, blizzard did this. Blizzard simps are quick with the just transfer bro bull. We built our community in our guild and value everyone and I have to sit here and start to figure out a way to keep us together. We have started a discussion about transferring because there is no way we will be able to raid m, especially if this que hits every content phase. While some are eager to transfer, a larger majority refuse to leave our emerald dream 2.0.

I have even offered to pay for the transfers back when the server is no longer locked and behind a que OUT OF MY OWN POCKET for every member but that’s as much as I can do. I’ve never seen such an incompetent group of idiots heading a flagship game development company.

What makes me even more angry is the fact that they are radio silent on the matter, just the transfer off bros.

BLIZZARD YOU DID THIS BY NUKING THE DEAD SERVERS INSTEAD OF JUST OFFERING TRANSFERS TO THEM.

Note* Old Blanch is even full

But to wind my rant down @op you are not alone brother, there is a massive non silent majority that stands with you on this.

I agree completely with that. Unfortunately some people are going to have to make the plunge. Or don’t I guess and just hope Qs level off sooner than later. And those of us stuck on the lower pop servers get to play private server wrath. Yippie

Theres no good answer if you only focus on what players can do. Everything is trade off, but Blizz obviously made things a lot worse.

Amen brother, I respect the effort youre putting in for yours. We also discussed xferring off, again, to a resounding no. I also offered and actually payed for some of my mebers to xfer to Lina from EF myself. Im glad im not the only one out here dealing with this  I hope the best for you guys!

Bro you have some serious reading comprehension issues. You literally compared the launch of wrath to the end of classic. Or did AQ and Naxx come out on classic release?! The f lol…

And you may have not liked wrath the first time around (weird that you’re back now if that’s true but ok) but I as someone who did also play it back then loved it. Hence why i played all classic, knew i was skipping tbc but would be back for wrath.

You can call me whatever you want but check my post history i am far from a blizz defender lol. I just think it’s ridiculous you ‘megaserver or nothing’ crowd cant understand that If some of you spread out it would help not only the Q for tjose servers but these other struggling servers as well.

Also- please save me the ‘we just want to play with our friends’ BS. That’s literally not true because if it was you have the solution in front of you. ‘Hey guys lets all vote which server we want to transfer to so we can all play together.’

Lmao you are thick. I think its perposterous to assume 10s of thousands of people would want to leave where they are with their friends to go to a server with 200 people on it…
