A fix to Community Elitism. Getting into keys in S2 is Impossible

Just like last season, for the first 2 weeks, last seasons gear and performance mattered. Now, for the next ~15 weeks (based on last season) getting into “higher” (>=15) keys will mean either already having KSM or being on a mythic raid team. Once m+ players vaults catch up to raiders, it’ll even itself out. For the next 15 weeks, just get used to the idea that you’ll need to push your own keys because pugging will feel like applying for jobs in 2009.

What a compelling argument! I’ll take your dodging for what it really is.

How do you like these dungeons (SL) compared to BFA?

I feel like there was a little more variety in BfA. The dungeons we have today feel homogenized, in that no particular group comp makes it much easier. Class balance about who can get their AoE faster is the much bigger driver, compared to the near downright necessity of having a rogue (for example) for Shrine. It’s probably better for fairness, but it does take some of the RPG out of it.

I thought for sure when the dungeon list came out with 8 dungeons on it we’d be getting a few more. I’m still shocked that THAT went live. It feels too small.

BFA dungeons were my favorite set in a long time. Everything else about the expansion seemed designed to irritate players, but the dungeons were really fun. I don’t get the same feeling out of SL dungeons.

Despite how strong ret is, despite how much help a ret can be for a healer,

Lul healing. Damage is pretty much all that matters.

I pugged the majority of my keys (probably 200+ pugs) last season but slowly built up a solid friends list. Haven’t pugged a single one since late season 1 and now we’re trying to balance our keys through the week to fit in all our regular key-running friends. This is absolutely the way to get keys done.

Sums up my feelings. I mean I hated UR and Atal, but I liked the vibe of the dungeons. These new ones are pretty garbage except the Revendreth set.

I guess going from Waycrest to this set is jarring and really turned me off. Glad to see I’m not alone.

Wildly failing is worse than grossly failing. Wildly is like missing by more the 50%, grossly is like 25%-50%.

I can’t stress this enough. Towards the end of last season, I got into a “end of the week completion” run for like a 16 spires. It was apparent pretty on that the healer (current IO like 900, but had KSM on his main) was out of his depth. So, I did a bunch of off healing, kept innervate on cool down, and even kited a boss once after the tank died to normal, predictable tank damage.

And at the end of the dungeon, I was the lowest dps by about 800. No surprise to me, and we still timed, despite all the issues. So we’re doing the usual GG stand around at the end of dungeon and the healer just starts ripping into me for my “low” dps. He called me names, insulted my intelligence, the whole 9 yards. I just said “couldn’t dps, had to help you heal too much” and left the group. He harassed me for an hour after that sending increasingly disturbing messages until I blocked him.

At the end of the day, toxic people gonna toxic, but it’s so hard to quantify utility that it leaves a lot open to interpretation. They killed “support” classes for a reason. I’m not sure which is worse, honestly. Not having the utility or not being taken seriously when you use it because it costs so much dps.

They should make an algorithm like Facebook or Instagram to help match players better. Isn’t there some sort of player-type survey that shows if you are a killer, achiever, socializer, etc? I don’t think it would be that difficult.I would love to find a guild full of socializers to run raids and keys with.

Controlling player perception is impossible…

Run your own key. Use io if you don’t since it tells your S1 progress and that is a good indicator if you don’t have much S2 progress.

Also, befriend a tank or healer to help make group formation and admission easier.

I play 2 healers and 1 dps. It is really hard for my dps to get into groups because so many dps apply for groups. It is fairly easy for my healers to find a group.

It’s not elitism, every single one of those keys that denied you once thought like you did, then the key died because some moron decided to stand in every mechanic or pull extra mobs.

Ret also had trouble getting into keys for S1, it’s a class issue. I pugged the other day as feral and got in fine, albeit it was a +9, but my M+ score was garbage, I still got in.

Been running my own key more this season if my friends aren’t on. I used to get into any group I wanted last season for my weekly vault but playing a new spec and being behind in io in 9.1, gotta work my way up again.

Here’s the harsh truth…

You’re competing in group finder with people like myself who are already sitting at over 20 timed 15s and over 2k IO.

Git gud op?

have you tired finding a guild or some other community to join that actively does keys?

works great from my own experience

As opposed to, “you’re wrong” Fingers in ears Neener neerner How exactly would you suggest someone argue with that?

Playing a female character and never talking in voice chat, works too.

I truly don’t experience this at all running as pug tank with my only friend in this game being my teammate healer. We get invited to whatever we apply for.
