A FFXIV Player's view of the WoW Player's Mentality

Except I will tell you what to do, and you will be kicked If you don’t listen. You can choose to not like that, but you can’t make it not happen. Welcome to the real world.

You sound like a mega loser trying to escape into a fantasy and getting mad that people are the same there as they are in real life. Big oof.

If you tell me what to do. I will report for harassing. and that is that. You would not need to kick. I will just laugh and leave.

We judge ourselves by our intentions and others by their actions…

I’m guessing you would be kicked and blacklisted before you even knew what transpired. At least people like yourself are easy to spot. Thanks for that.

Me too. That’s probably because they pull everyone in tight leash. The forum’s are EXTREMELY strict. If the forums there was as strict here, we probably wouldn’t even be a forums most folks would be banned LOL.

I think WoW should add commendations in dungeons and a better mentor system (I never hear about our mentor system here).

So I’ve noticed that helping players in need starts with me. Meaning I don’t expect other players to help me. But, I am a solo player at heart. However, I will jump in if someone is getting low on health or needs a heal and I’m on a healer.

As for the rest of it, the community is the community. Players are focused a lot on playing, not socializing. That doesn’t mean they won’t socialize though. They will, it’s just that playing the game comes first. Unless the structure and mechanics of the game changes to make socializing more of a thing, I don’t think it’s going to happen.

so if someone tells you how to do a fight, you’re going to report them for harassment and leave the group?

and then you say tripe like this?

look in the mirror dude.

after 15 years of wow I found helping new players ends up with " can I have some gold ?"

it gets offputting.

Hope it came with a warranty lmao

Yes? it is not your place to teach me.

Coming from you of all people that is funny.

Sort of. “Get good” is relative because while WoW arguably has a higher skill ceiling it has a MUCH lower floor. Sure there are a lot of bad FFXIV players out there but the average FF player is better than the average WoW player. FFXIV forces you into dungeons/trials/raids many times (often with mechanics FAR beyond what WoW has even in leveling dungeons.) Anyone who can’t party play at at least minimal levels quits the game long before hitting the level cap. In WoW you can hit max level without ever joining a party, leading to much worse regular dungeon experiences.

FF14 is the number 1 piece of crap. The community there is just as crappy as their game.

If you’re in a group with 4+ other players, they’re fun is just as important as yours. If your actions are causing those 4+ others to not have fun then the solution to that problem is very clear. The needs of the many out way the needs of the few.

Oh boy.

The joy of hard carrying scrubs through everything and getting banned if you complain about it.

I’m glad WoW didn’t implement this… yet.

You can do the same in FF XIV, reach max level without ever joining a party I mean. Fates, Deep Dungeon and purchasable job/story skips take care of that. And there’s still a couple sources of exp I didn’t mention.

Personally I prefer it this way. I’m not confrontational in the slightest anyway so even if there’s someone bad in the group I’ll just rage to myself and move on with my day. Players are generally kept happier this way and will likely have more fun without being told “ur bad” or “get gud” every other dungeon they join. It’s frustrating dealing with bad players, but fun is the entire point in playing games so I don’t let it get to me. Plus it makes me feel like a super good player in comparison lol.

No it is not. You pick to do a pick up group. If you care so much about your fun. Join a guild that has the same mindset as you.

Same as above. Treating the pug scene as if it is a guild is laughable at best.

Or they can filter people like you out of their parties and attempt to surround themselves with like minded individuals. Good teamwork doesn’t happen solely in a guild/static setting. More often than not, yes, but not always. Every once in a blue moon, honest to god PUG magic happens, and is the result of of a good team composition and mindset. You certainly lack the mindset at least.

Yes, it is. If you being in the group is causing 4 other players to not have fun. Then there is a clear problem with a very clear solution. Either try educating you on how to play the game or remove you from the group.

This is why you can’t have normal conversations on the internet. People take everything too literally.

Obviously it’s technically possible to hit level cap without partying if you buy a level boost and grind in old zones and stuff, but the number of new players who have actually done that can probably be counted on one hand.

The fun the 4 other players have is not my problem. I am in that group to get loot, or to do a quest. It is not my place to tell you how to play, and it is not your place to tell me. Win or lose.

Just because you make the group does not give you a right at all. The only thing you have the right to do is kick me. That is it.
