If it is being a Karen for reporting people for harassing. I’m ok with that, and yes telling me how to play or trying to improve when I don’t want is.
And honestly, I’d regret nothing. I do pray that we never cross paths in FF XIV. Would I say anything inflammatory or rude in party chat? Probably not. I know better. You can play however you want. But people are also free to remove you from the group if needed. It’d be resolved in silence, most likely, whether it’s a group kick or everyone leaving you to your own devices.
"Hey could you interrupt that so we can progress this dungeons?
“IM REPORTING YOU LET ME SPEAK TO FF14s MANAGER”
Honestly you seem more toxic than the ones trying to help others
Several things.
First, you started in WOD.
WoW was not always like this. In early WoW, people did help other people, there was less toxicity, people had reputations to consider. This is because of a few game design reasons and a few out of game developments.
In terms of design, in early WoW, servers were not combined, so your reputation was sticky, you saw the same people over and over in groups. There was no group finder, so if you were a pain, people would not have you in their groups, and if you were unfriendly, you would have a harder time getting groups. Your entire ability to progress in the game was dependent to a large degree on having a group of people to play with who did not think you were a pain.
In terms of outside the game, information became more “perfect” than it was at at first (now everyone who is serious has viewed the dungeon mechanics in at least one video, has read up on encounters, on their class mechanics, and has “done their research”, because the information is available and is reliable and is detailed. Other players see players who do not do this as lazy and reprehensible – this was not the case in early WoW because there was simply a lot less information available.
Also, people used to socialize in game more then because there wasn’t Discord or other social media. Now, everyone socializes in discord, and the game is for “gaming only”, and your friends, if they are not in game, are chatting in discord while watching netflix or what have you. It’s a different thing from the early years where there was a lot of socialization in game – that changed dramatically over the years to the point where there is now very little of that other than between people who are already out of game friends.
Today, and since you have been in WoW certainly, WoW is based on instance finders (other than very high end raiding). Servers are merged, cross-realmed and the like. People socialize with friends on discord and not in the game. So the game is made more streamlined so that people can get in and get out quickly, and much less social. Near perfect information availability makes people expect near perfect information acquisition, and when that isn’t the case, tempers flare because there are no relationships, other players are needed means to an end, and that is basically it. The game is more accessible, and less time-consuming, but also less social and less friendly, and there is much more emphasis on expertise in execution and much less on socialization and friendliness.
And, finally, WoW is a very competitive game. It has always been like that, but the changes in the game over the years away from it being social and towards it being more focused on excellence in execution based on perfect knowledge and research have made the game that much more competitive. Tools like damage meters and raid/io and the like are in wide use in WoW, and players strive to compare with each other and compete with each other – it’s a core part of WoW and a core motive for many of WoW’s players, and therefore also something very much supported actively by Blizzard.
FFXIV has deliberately taken a very different approach to their game – they do not want the same kind of game as WoW is, and that is intelligent of them because it gives them a niche for people who want an MMO that is different from WoW not just in content, but in focus and atmosphere and vibe/feel/community. The two games will always be very different though. It doesn’t make sense to try to make WoW like FFXIV and vice versa.
Or better yet. Say “it needs to be interrupt” don’t say you, and show tact sure. But we all know how the wow community is and how they give advice.
Also, If I seem toxic toward a community I hate. I’m ok with that.
Whoa isnt telling others to play reportable? How dare you!
It is also more abrasive to say what they said than politely asking someone to do something like you did. I don’t think they realize how they sound right now.
No that is telling the group itself it needs to be.
I know that is hard to understand. It is ok.
ROFL. Well, there we have it. Go ahead and close this thread.
Obligatory “Yeah, well, like that’s just your opinion, man.”
Good so it is ok to help others and inform them how to do things. Glad we finally came to this conclusion
And if they were hindering the dungeons progression and refusing to listen id simply punt them out.
(You can report me for that if you want)
Thankfully it falls under a “difference of playstyles” so…you couldn’t really be reported for it. Well, you could, but nothing would come of it.
Well apparently the FF14 community is extremely soft and trigger happy with the report feature so i thought id make them feel more at home
Ya, you clearly don’t understand basic reading comprehension. So it is not my place to teach you.
Holy shiit lol. “There is no such thing as someone being baaaad at anything, they’re just not as goooood as someone else.” No. People are bad at everything in life, and definitely bad at games. End of story. And there is just as much tolerance in WoW today as there ever was, go join one of the 10,000 player casual guilds on your server that have been around since the games launch.
There were always bad players, guilds for them, and people that didn’t tolerate them in their own groups and guilds. Glhf changing humanity
when you pay my sub you can tell me what standards I set for the people I play with. See that cuts both ways.
Karen.
You mean the standard of gaslighting that exists in FFXIV?
Your sub cost does not give you a right to harass other players.
Keeping the community clean of players like you I will gladly hold that title with pride.
Karen?
That is the 2nd most karen thing youve said lol
“A _______ player’s view of the WoW player’s mentality”
Oh boy, this is super fresh.
It’s kinda funny that people can be reported for forcing a playstyle on another player in FF XIV. That is exactly what you do, apparently, so the irony is real. “I will play how I want!” is telling others to accept what you are doing.
Hello kitty online adventure.
Holy crap! You only have 20 friendship points. …l2p scrub
