A courteous word about LGBT representation

Yeah… current events suck sadly…

Not the zinger you think it is, since this has been done by both “sides”.

Extremists aren’t arbitrarily named.

Nah, I sometimes see people use the same types of words and it gets boring. so I’ll say other things like str7 or yoke just to keep the haters on their toes

Okay this is true, but responding bc I like geeking out about numbers and methodology.

There’s a lot of studies that report LGBTQ incidences (e.g. pct of US that identifies as part of the community) that range from like 8-12%? I think I saw one done by Harris Polling that had like 17%, which was quite large.

There’s also research that shows that younger people are more likely to identify as LGBTQ. And that Gen-Z has the highest pct of LGBTQ identified individuals.

So we know that younger folks are more likely to be LGBTQ, and we assume that WoW’s demos skew younger than the US Populations, then the pct. of WoW players that are likely LGBTQ would most likely be higher than the US.

There could be other factors that might mitigate this. Say if WoW players skew conservative or some other attribute that is correlated negatively with being LGBTQ. But I don’t really think that’d be the case.

TDLR; WoW playerbase probably has a higher proportion of LGBTQ folks than the US population.

Maybe they’re rude and antagonistic because you refer to them as the abcd people.

Maybe you see more hate because your actions foment hate.

Now you see why no one likes the group.

If you use the term “cis” you’re a victim of ideology, bro. It’s a fact o’ life.

Let me know when left wingers put laws into affect that make it so churches or heteronormative people can’t talk about basically anything or do much of anything like right wing has, or point to any events from the left like I just described.

Would you cut it with the “abcd people” line? It’s apparent as anything that you’re using it to push your point alone, drive us off as rude and antagonistic, fragile, easily provoked, and… honestly, even if that were the case, wouldn’t you be if hateful topics and rhetoric directed at you were the regular occurrence for an entire week since the expansion drop?

It’s ok, we don’t like yours either.

Oh god forbid I use a prefix.

I don’t put much stock in these censuses right now. The ranges are so wide, and so many of them insist on self-identification of LGBT as a community as opposed to being someone who that community may champion, for lack of a better way to word it right now. Not enough coffee, there’s definitely a more eloquent way to say this.

Hate begets hate. I use to be fine with people like that until they became routinely rude and obnoxious. Being gay doesn’t make you immune to being either.

It’s a slur given the imprimatur of faux academia. Nothing more really.

It doesn’t excuse perpetuating the same, either. Many have tried to defuse things elsewhere… but what has it earned? More hateful rhetoric.

So stop it then (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)

Prayers were removed from schools many many years ago.

How about this. We can trade articles starting with you, painting one or the other side in a bad light. I don’t care which side I’m forced to demonize, if that tells you anything about my stance on this.

Nah it’s not a slur.

Lemme guess though, you think ‘terf’ is a slur as well huh? Usually the two go hand in hand for absurd claims.

“Cis-” is not a slur in and of itself. “Cisgender” is a descriptive prefix only.
