A courteous word about LGBT representation

Everyone wants to live. What makes their living more than my living? And why should I care if they are living if they have nothing to do with me?

I don’t want a debate either, I just want to log in and play with all the gay dragons outside by the ruby life pools. There’s so much grass I can touch, you should try it sometime

Sorry, this is too forced. I like my disagreements to feel natural.

Unfortunately I don’t think many people will know how deep this satire cuts, so I’m gonna be a nerd and assert that it does.

And some people don’t want to play with them.

You believe it’s forced cause you’re too comfortable being around others who agree with you on many things. So to you, when someone has a difference of an opinion you deem serious, the only thing your brain can concoct is: “It must be fake!”

So you insist that from 2004-now blizzard was forced pandering heteronormative stuff and religious stuff in the game?

you could always play a different game that suits your needs.

What a sweet answer.

“We are forcing our idealogy into your game. Go play something else until we do it again to your new space. And again. And again.”

Yeah I kinda figured this would go entirely over your head. No big deal.

The unfortunate thing is, and I can attest to it personally, there’s been more than enough (and one post is enough, honestly) open hate espoused on here. That includes the insinuation of grooming/pedophilia/defense of the same, that we’re actively trying to harm minors, prone to attempting the 7-letter s-word, mentally unstable or ill, etc.

There’s being around people who don’t agree with you on things, and then there’s people who just don’t agree on you. The latter has come out in droves for the past week. (Not “you” specifically, but citing a general “you” as a hypothetical person)

Well said OP.

This one gets to stay. And the other one. And those other ones.

But the ones from the differing viewpoints, or the ones pointing out that we don’t need the first group that can stay… those cant stay.

It’s true everyone. Mask off.
We’re infecting your game with “the agenda”. Pretty soon you won’t be able to play a str7 game anymore.

You got that right fam. Next they are gonna find where you live and force their “ideology” on you. /s

What’s str7? Is that some strange offshoot of the SNES’ mode 7 graphics?

That was such a goofball argument too.

First of all, Dragonflight isn’t the entire game; it’s merely the newest part of it, and overall the percentage of relationships that are recognizable same-sex relationships in the entire game would obviously be less than what you’d expect in real life.

Secondly, it’s common for certain areas of the real world to have more gay people than average. There are even some neighborhoods where the majority of the residents are gay.

Thirdly, if you look at the data on what percentage of each generation identifies as bisexual, the numbers for Gen Z are much higher than for millennials, and for millennials they’re much higher than Gen X (iirc), etc. This is almost certainly because there’s less stigma against same-sex relationships now. The Dragon Isles were probably never corrupted by the influence of Christianity so it just makes sense that there would be more LGBT dragons!

Finally, just because all of the memorable interactions involve gay couples doesn’t mean that gay couples are overrepresented; str8 couples aren’t as new because they were already like 99.999999999999999999% of the game, so when a couple is str8 no one cares, it’s boring (unless they have great chemistry)

Also where were all these threads when str8 couples were statistically overrepresented for at least the first eight expansions?

Next thing you know there might be protesters at their community events or attacking power grids to stop them from congregating! Ah wait a minute.

Yeah it definitely was

You’re aware that people on the other side have also been insidious in their insults, yes? There’s plenty of threads where all the posts of attacks and insults from that side are still visible and not moderated. And from my experience being around all kinds of people both online and offline, abcd people tend to be far more rude and antagonistic. If you say something wrong around them, it’s like a conversation full of landmines. They easily are provoked and it’s often with things you had no idea about.

Summary: I see far more hate from one side than the other.
