Illutiankade:
You, and pretty much everyone else, completely misunderstand why Blizzard did what they did for Covenants (Shadowlands) and LFD/RDF (Wrath Classic).
The real reason they did what they did, despite the protests of the community, was because it increased/will increase ‘time spent subbed’.
Seriously. All you need to is ask yourself, when questioning a design decision, is “Does this make the player need to play more to get the result they want?”
It’s not about vision it’s about MAUs.
It really is obvious how they’re applying Retail design to Wrath Classic. Which involves:
Artificially slowing players down. Time gating things. Creating long, tedious, unnecessary processes.
The experience means nothing. Fun means nothing. It’s just about manipulating metrics and making a powerpoint presentation full of graphs showing how many players spend x amount of time doing y activity.
Sad to see Wrath reduced to that.
